  1. Wow, I never realised he was 11 - he looks great for his age. Hope it's nothing sinister.
  2. Yep, sorry you are going through this Bindi but it doesn't mean you will love little Georgea any less. She is lucky to have a wonderful home with you. As others have recommended, get her to a vet for a full checkup. Regardless of where she came from, I hope she will still help to heal your heart
  3. He buys entire litters of puppies from breeders here in Oz, then ships them to a chain of pet stores in Hawaii.
  4. I actually think that's a really valid point. Perhaps the requirements for placing a litter listing on DOL should be stricter?
  5. Looks like they are re-enacting an Animal Planet doco
  6. To those who have questioned Bindi's choice of breeder - just try to remember that most non-showies/breeders would not read the export section of the gazette , and certainly wouldn't have a clue who Mr McDougal is. Enjoy your baby, Bindi-Boo - she's gorgeous
  7. 10 Facts About... Kyza 1 - I waited 7 months for this boy, and he was worth every moment 2 - Despite the fluffy white coat, he is actually very low maintenance as far as grooming is concerned! 3 - His show name is Japanese and means 'white marshmallow' 4 - He is fascinated when you go beeeeerk berk berk and imitate a chicken noise 5 - He almost got named Kaji or Hiro, but neither of those names really suited him 6 - His best friend is Xena the cat 7 - His favourite treat is roast chicken 8 - He has a water obsession and loves the swimming pool 9 - Kyza likes to lay on the ground in the froggy position with his legs straight out behind - sooo cute! 10 - He is a very naughty show dog and likes to embarrass me in the ring at every opportunity
  8. Gorgeous photos!! I especially love the Giraffe one.
  9. Same here. For a routine procedure such as castration, and when the clinic is not staffed overnight, I really don't see the point of keeping them in. Will they allow you to take your dog home the same day, if you request?
  10. It does happen sometimes, if the vets/nurses weren't too concerned about it then I wouldn't worry too much Have you had another look at the tape, is she still bleeding? It should have settled down by now. Just keep her nice and quiet (no jumping up and down on furniture and no zoomies!) and hopefully she will get the all-clear at her checkup tomorrow
  11. Gorgeous!! You should head over to the Spitz breed thread, we are a bit lacking in the JS-owner department at the moment!!
  12. I get so confused about the whole resource guarding issue. Some people say that you should never interfere with your dog when he/she is eating a high-value food item. Those same people then usually say they are able to remove a high-value item from their dog without any problem at all, if the need arises. My question is, how? Are they just lucky that their dogs are not big on resource guarding? Then there are the people who say you should practice removing the item from your dog, replacing with an even higher value item, teaching the 'leave' command and so on. I've also got a JS who resource guards. If he's eating a chicken wing or pigs ear, he can be very stroppy about protecting his food. I do TOT with him, and have done so since day dot - it has not made an iota of difference.
  13. My dogs get sardines in oil every week.
  14. If your dog falls within the listed weight range, use a whole tube.
  15. Oh yeah I thought of another one... not from a Royal, but I was walking my boy a few weeks back and we passed a lady with a cute little Silky cross. She asked what breed my boy was and I told her 'He's a Japanese Spitz', but I mustn't have said it clearly enough as she nodded and repeated back to herself "Aaaah, a Japanese Bitza"
  16. My JS got called a Pomeranian at the Royal, which I can kinda understand - but HUNGARIAN VIZSLA?!?!
  17. My dog didn't get any weird comments at the Royal this year - how disappointing!
