Great shots everyone!

What pretty colours in the balloon, SheWolf!

It's so true... And often said by people who have never been involved with the breed in question.

I hope that's not the one that I want to join! I'd be screwed! We do obedience, flyball, herding, showing and now tracking (though we haven't joined a tracking club yet).

LOL The first one he was actually jumping out of the fridge... So not technically a handstand! This was what he was doing before he jumped out -

Training/trial Dog Containment
TerraNik replied to Tiggy's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I can fit two of my dogs in the one crate (they are quite happy in there together!) and I do that when we're at training (saves me carrying two crates!). For trials and shows I keep them separate in their own crate. -
That would've been a good one!

Too funny, JS!!!!!! I had my Chief Dog Wrangler help me... I got in position and OH picked Jedi up and put him on my back. I was quite shocked that he happily stood there! I'm considering teaching him to jump up there himself now!

Congrats!

It's so he doesn't damage his skin when he scratches. It's working and he looks pretty trendy! Lol - next thing you know, he'll be wearing band merch... Is this so he doesn't have to wear his bucket? Sort of... He's scratching more than biting himself at the moment, so the bucket wouldn't really help. The t-shirt keeps his nails from cutting up his skin.

Look! A Dane in the CCD ring! (about to recall) It was so great to see one in there! Lovely to see! I'd love to know who she is! Ooh I don't think I have the catalogue anymore...

I agree... I believe EVERY breed is trainable. It just depends HOW you train them and how much work you put in!

So I finally solved my problem!! I'm doing a month of Jedi & I photos (one photo per day). I'll have to do a month of Ahsoka & I because I have NO photos of her and I! Here are a couple with Master Jedi - "How do I work it?"
-
There's a really good book called "Tracking Dog - Theory and Methods" by Glen R. Johnson. I've been reading it (Ahsoka's just started tracking) and he says that ANY dog can track. There are photos of a Westie, Poodle, Wolfhound, Maltese terrier... So why not a Mal or an Akita?

I wouldn't do it. One of the main reasons is having enough time to train and bond with the puppy. It would also be difficult to teach manners in that they can influence each other, just like an adult dog will influence a puppy. My two are 4 months apart and I would not recommend that to anyone unless the first dog was really well trained (Jedi was an angel and was trained exactly how I wanted him to be as an adult by 6 months of age, when Ahsoka came along). I think our situation was an exception - there's no way I would have introduced a puppy when Ahsoka was 4 months old if she was our first dog She is only just starting to mature at 19 months!!! I'm only just starting to consider when we should add to our crew and that will most likely be when Ahsoka is approaching 3.
