  1. Wow, how freakin' exciting for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOHOOO! The album is awesome! I had never seen the rest of the shots, only the dunce one. They're brilliant!
  2. Jedi and I finally got back into it this morning. I've gone right back in his fitness training so we only did 10 minutes but he's able to keep up at a faster pace now. He sure loves it, too!
  3. Oh no!!!!!!!!!! Huski that is AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope Daisy comes away unscathed mentally... What a scary thing to happen.
  4. Week 9 My speedlite broke this week (well, I dropped it...) so I decided to take a shot without any flash but at night so that I was working with poor lighting. It was quite fun actually!
  5. I've done that in the past, it seems that it depends on the luck of the draw with the instructor what's 'allowed' or not Personally, if someone told me what I was "allowed" to do with my dog between exercises I would tell them to go jump. As long as you are participating and your dog is not out of control and distracting the others during this down time, what does it matter? You are trying to get the best out of your dog and asking for 100% focus for an hour is ridiculous.
  6. That's awful. Do you have anyone near you who has stable dogs who could do group stays with?
  7. At ANY age, they shouldn't be expected to work for an hour, let alone a puppy! I don't put my dogs in classes anymore. Jedi went through classes and I had to do a fair bit of work to motivate him once I decided classes weren't doing us any good. Now if I enter a class with Soaks or Jedi, it is for a specific exercise only - usually stays. My club applauds handlers who say their dog has had enough and leave early or those that take their dog aside and do some play or give it a rest while the handler still watches the class to still get the information. You shouldn't feel 'forced' to try and keep your dog's focus for an hour - it's your dog, you do what you think suits it best.
  8. Soaks has a brag... She's now finally gotten over the problems she was having with her flyball runs (missing 1st jump back on return and dropping the ball at the 3rd jump). I'm so proud of her! She's come into season early (by a whole month!!!!!) so we have had to pull out of her two comps this month, but that might be a blessing in disguise! She'll be really solid after her month in quarantine! This was her in the backyard this morning -
  9. He's doing better... Losing hair like no tomorrow and is about 50% nude, but his skin is looking better. He still scratches but mostly of a morning when he wakes up and then there's not much during the day and evening. He can actually concentrate on an activity now! So we've got our first OB trial on Friday since I put him on sick leave Hopefully we go okay! Sorry about Tilba... I hope she recovers soon.
  10. Yep, it's a Keeshond. Doesn't look small to me.
  11. Congrats Jess!! That's fantastic news!
  12. oh dear! That's a dangerous website!
  13. good question - what does everyone else think? Nope... One cue for both. If I keep asking after they've peed, the dogs know to go poop :D
  14. Aww, we were at the show and the flyball!
  15. I haven't trained with Jedi for a month now... February was a complete waste - I was doing 50-60 hr weeks and often wouldn't get home til 9pm or wouldn't get home at all so it was impossible to do any training outside of the weekends. Next week I'm moving to a rotation with much less contact hours, so that'll make it easier to get out there with Jed.
  16. "Hurry up" - Jedi "Jobbies" - Ahsoka (her breeder uses this one so she knew it when she came to us. Soaks also responds to hurry up).
  17. If you email the coordinator in your area (someone already posted the contact info), they can send you a list of all the assessment items they do with each dog to assess whether they are suitable to become a therapy dog. In a nutshell, the dog must know sit, drop, stay, come. They must cope with being yelled at (verbal only), bear hugged, bumped on the bottom, walking through crowds including crowds making noises and with medical equipment. They must walk on a loose lead and be comfortable with being left alone with a stranger while the owner is out of sight. They get patted roughly and by someone making lots of unpredictable movements and noise. Good luck!! Therapy work is loads of fun!
  18. I don't think there have been any other dominos born around that time, so I would imagine it was him.
  19. Jedi was put through a mock trial (CCD) tonight... He did so well despite it raining at the time and the grounds being soaked. He missed one drop but aside from that he worked nicely. Only 2 weeks til our next trial!
