  1. Ahsoka howls more often than woos but the howl often turns into a woo... She does woo sometimes though, it's just not her favourite vocal thing to do. She is very vocal with whining and other noises, too particularly to let you know that things aren't active enough for her! She's certainly not a quiet lappie. Her sister, Jaana is VERY vocal as well and her owner said that she woos. Must be genetic
  2. I don't do classes - I don't get much out of them and it's really just too long. I get constantly 'nagged' to go into class but I never do unless it's for group stays or a few minutes of a heelwork pattern. Plus, I'm training 3 dogs at the moment so it's really not conducive to class work! If my club had a rule that I couldn't do that -- then I wouldn't go there. You need to be comfortable with how you train - it's not worth staying around if you don't agree with methods or if they're not flexible with things.
  3. I start straight away, too. It's all fun and lots of playing.
  4. Now THAT is Jedi's type of weather!!!!!!! :D
  5. I see labs in ring up here all the time! I always thought they were generally eager to please, maybe that's just in comparison to my dog :D I figure Huski - if you can train Daisy, you can train almost anything!
  6. Beans was in melt down when I left after picking up some foreign food which she was obviously allergic to. Within 24 hours she had ripped holes in her chest inner thigh and foot and was continually scratching poor baby. It is now a case of waiting for it to pass and managing the syptoms as best we can. So I really really know what you are talking about. Best of luck on Anzac day - any chance of increasing the anti-histamines for 48 hours to see if that helps? He's not on anti-histamines - they never worked for him unfortunately. He's only on his immunotherapy at the moment. The last cortisone tablet he had was over a month ago because he was doing so well and I'm not really supposed to give him any at the moment because he's about to see his dermatologist and he needs to see how the immunotherapy is going without the interference of the steroids. I'll just see how he goes - if he's really bad before the trial I'll give a tablet just to take the edge off. One tablet doesn't really change what his skin is doing so the dermatologist said that was okay.
  7. Did you get that one on video, Ness?! Sounds like it would be an entertaining one!
  8. Thanks for coming up and saying Hi and letting us meet your kids its great to put names to faces. Hey TerraNik have you ever thought of doing agility - the way your kids jumped out of the crate and came running to you was very impressive - a 500 jump would be no trouble whatsoever and I forgot to ask whens your next obedience trial? Yeah that was quite a surprise! I was thinking "Geez, that dog sounds SO much like Ahsoka!" -- Turn around and there she was! At least they managed to find me rather than terrorising the other classes! The class I was teaching had a good laugh about it! I used to do agility with them, but flyball took over. I might start back doing agility with Soaks eventually! She'd love it. Jedi's next trial is Anzac Day, but he's a lot itchier than usual at the moment, so not holding my breath.
  9. That's exactly what you're supposed to do with it.
  10. She is going to be practicing as long as I am alive and have pets. She doesn't know that yet, of course :D . Well thank goodness for that!
  11. Oh yeah... Dr Penny Mead (Hornsby vet hospital) is my hero! She is amazing and I take my guys to see her now even though it's a 30-40 minute trip out there. She was recommended to me by a bunch of people so I took Jedi to see her when he was having severe allergy problems that none of the other vets I had been to were really helpful with. She was the first to be proactive about Jedi's condition and was willing to take the time with us to work out what was going on with him and what the best plan of action should be. She referred us straight to a vet dermatologist and because of that Jedi has a much better quality of life now. I'll never use another vet as long as Penny is still practicing!
  12. Is it a Rogz collar like this? If so, yes - you feed the clip through the metal ring before fastening to the other half of the clip. You shouldn't have the metal ring floating around.
  13. Just noticed the dates! Exactly one year ago!!!!!!
  14. Someone asked that a while ago... Here's the thread - http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...&hl=anatomy
  15. Morning meal only, but I do training with them most nights (food rewards), so they really get two meals a day.
  16. I pronounce it the same as well. Mostly becuase it I once did German in school and Hund is the German word for dog so I just assumed it was the same in Finnish. Yep
  17. What a surprise to see Soaks and Jedi in your photos! Food on a stick challenge... Sounds like something I would do! I haven't been game to try the cheese on a stick though... what was the verdict?!
  18. Swedes temperament-wise are more like kelpies. They have higher levels of drive and their off-switch isn't as easily accessible They don't come in the multitude of colours that flappies do - usually black with or without a little white. They can also come in a dark brown but that's pretty rare I think. We only have blacks here. They are slightly shorter than flappies (very slightly - only a cm). I assume you're not interested in the little changes in conformation between the two breeds? Another big difference here is that we only have one kennel breeding slappies at the moment and there are only a handful in the country.
  19. Congratulations!!!! Wahoooooooo! You guys ROCK! (but we already knew that! )
