  1. Having met Charlie, I think he would make a great therapy dog. He's a real sweetie. But yes, service dogs live with the person they are helping. That's not to say that you couldn't train him to do some of the things service dogs do, like retrieve items, pull off socks, turn on lights (well, maybe not with his height LOL), put away laundry, etc. It's a lot of fun to teach some of these things and he could be very useful in your house!
  2. I don't know what the actual letters for the Neutered champion are... I imagine N.Ch or something, too but it does say in the rules that previous non-neutered champion titles will take precedence, so if your dog has it's normal Australian Champion title, it would be Ch. N.Ch <dog's name>
  3. Where does it say that? it says in the declaration, "2. Has not undertaken any form of training where the dog is required to bite, or grab hold of a person regardless of whether that person is wearing protective device or clothing. This includes the activities known as Schutzhund or Dogsport. " Nothing about ANKC events. I think grumpette left out a comma... It reads very differently then. I think it should read -- No, dogs that participate in ANKC recognised events like obedience, agility, herding, flyball, tracking and retrieving are allowed to participate in the program. As in they ARE allowed. Dogs that participate in bitework are not.
  4. Shell and Articmalamute both use Ruffwear Palisades packs. If they don't see this you could PM them. I know AM does lots of hikes with her mals with them.
  5. I have the exact same one! I love it!
  6. It's very typical of spitz breeds to not want to do things without a 'reason' (e.g. in Jedi's ET he didn't want to keep running after 6km until I told him there was a pigs ear waiting for him! That was reason enough to keep going! ). Lappies are easier to convince than most spitz breeds because they are after all, working dogs. But not doing anything unless there's a treat being waved around is something that is more likely linked to how you've trained her. We can talk about this tonight, if you like.
  7. I love the one of them running through the grass! And #2
  8. Well done, Seita!!!!!!! Can't wait for the video!
  9. Jedi had a blast too - he was the one that coaxed her into the water in the first place! Not that she needed much encouragement
  10. This weekend Woofen, Agentvee and I drove 5 hours south for a Flyball comp... We stayed overnight and woke up the day of the comp to find it was BUCKETING down. After a few hours of waiting and deliberating, the comp was cancelled! It wasn't a complete waste if you ask Fable... She had a ball! She was running through the creek and decided this time to try and clear it! (yes, she made it!)
  11. Huge congrats to Sas and Dante! I'm so sad I missed you guys! Our flyball comp was cancelled because of the rain! What a waste! We spent over 8 hours in the car there and back for nothing. I should've entered obedience instead!
  12. We'll be going to all of them... I figure if they get people entering and attending, they will be encouraged to keep offering the class.
  13. Just had a look at the September Gazette for NSW.. The shows around Sydney/Newcastle with Open Neuter are - 15-17 October - Hillsborough 5-6 November - Hillsborough 14 Nov - EP 27 Nov - Castle Hill 5 December - EP
  14. Well that gives me hope!!!! When's the interclub? Edit - oh, you just answered my question! Good luck!!!
  15. She is growing like a weed! I just hope her legs stop sometime soon to let her body catch up!!!!!! Soaks and Fable have been best buddies since day dot! It's been really wonderful to watch, and great for Jedi as Soaks doesn't bug him to play as much! Even Mr Grumpybum has been seen playing with Fable! From the day she came home, Jedi has been so tolerant of her, which was surprising! She could wake him from his slumber and he wouldn't tell her off!!!!!! NO dog gets away with waking up Jedi (apart from Soaks). I knew it would all be okay once he gave the stamp of approval! I'm so excited about our trip!!!
  16. Eek! State entries sent! Oh dear... What have I got myself into!?
  17. http://www.ruthlessthings.com/blog/2010/09...-breed-in-need/ I've got one of her collars and they're awesome! Really high quality! It's for a great cause, too!
  18. I love capturing expression and personality in my shots... I'm glad it's coming through! Thanks! I just sit out the back with them and wait! The girls do the rest! They are forever doing zoomies and playing... Thanks, it's my favourite too!
