  1. Jedi is on pulse therapy (2 days of antibiotics, 5 days off) for the rest of his life. Given the alternative (steroids), I am quite happy with the arrangement!
  2. I think you should serve up a bowl of confetti to one of your boys and see what they do with it
  3. No, Abby is my friend's Kelpie. She's 5! But I only started training her at the beginning of the year and only once per week. So she has done quite well for how little training we get to do together! Sorry to hear about Bronte - I didn't know that she had skin issues, too! geez we could start up a support group - Obedience Trainers with Itchy Dogs
  4. I've just recently gone through a similar situation with Jedi. He was forging like a dog on a mission So I had to retrain his position. What I did was: - Never accepted anything other than perfect position (would break off and start again if he forged) - Didn't just go in a straight line or circle... I would side step, walk backwards, etc - Did a LOT of stationary heel position reinforcement - Fed right in position with the food coming from behind my back rather than in front - Had food on the ground and heeled towards it to try and 'tempt' him to forge when I wanted to make it harder I don't wear a treat bag anymore. I just had the treats in my pocket.
  5. I've already sent my entries! Can't wait!
  6. Those shots turned out really well, Shell!!!!!!!!
  7. He's too cool to cuddle me now that he has won best neuter in show. Big issue in my eyes. Geez, I better go bring him back down to earth...
  8. Allergies - We have made an amazing turn around and he is just like a normal dog now! At this stage his treatment looks like it will be life-long, but you would never know he is an allergy dog. And that FUR!!!! I actually need to groom him now! :D Titles obtained so far: - CCD title - ET - FD (Flyball Dog) And STILL 1 pass towards Novice OB. I've started some UD work with him, too. Herding - we started at a new club and everyone has been impressed with Jedi's instinct and willingness to follow direction. We're having a great time! Agility - We've begun training again and if all goes well will start trialling next year. Flyball - He made his debut and now has his first title and is only a few points away from his second! OB - Soaks is well on her way to debuting early next year! Flyball - She has gained 3 titles so far - FD, FDX and FDCh! Tracking - started training - she's going well! Herding - We've only just returned to training, so hopefully we make some good progress over summer. ET - A pad injury got in the way of this one! She'll go for it next year instead. Abby has 2 CCD passes under her belt! Only one more to go!!!!!!
  9. Jedi is pretty damn close. I can't think of any issues with his behaviour.
  10. What a small world! I'll have to say hello next time! Congratulations on your awesome results! Jedi took out Neuter in Show today! :D
  11. Congrats Bronte! Yay Valley!! While we are bragging about show wins..... Jedi won TWO Neuter in Group over the weekend and today managed to take NEUTER IN SHOW!!!!!!!!!! :D
  12. Two shows Though at the Keeshond specialty in Vic we had 6 in neutered sweepies! It was great to have some competition! Jed came 2nd to a GORGEOUS grand champion.
  13. Jedi got his first 12 neuter points this weekend!! How is everyone else going!?
  14. I use IOD products and LOVE them. Even my allergy boy can use them and the royal jelly shampoo makes his coat look the best it's ever been! I'm about to try the black coat one on one of my girls. I'll post back here after if no one else has given a review.
  15. Just a headsup about the new rules... http://www.ankc.org.au/Rules.aspx Obedience now has a Grand Champion title (5 UDX passes >185) and UDX is also eligible for O CH titles (2 passes <185) There are also some changes (just from me quickly skimming) CCD - RECALL - No return around dog - exercise is finished once dog presents in front. Recall is at least 12m (previously 10m) STAYS - 10m away (instead of 6) NOVICE RECALL - 15m away (instead of 12m) RETRIEVE ON FLAT - no longer return around dog. Exercise is finished after taking dumbell from dog. I haven't looked at the higher levels yet...
  16. AAAAAAH! Dying of cuteness overload over here!
  17. The fact of having to FIND where to turn it off and then click multiple times to actually turn it off is VERY annoying. It's not the song that I don't like, it's the fact that it's there in the first place. Music on websites is classic webdesign faux pas. It also makes the website take longer to load (not that it influences me, but it might be a problem for others).
  18. If I could make one comment it is... I HATE music on websites. HATE HATE HATE. I usually close the page without even bothering to look at the website. ETA - The white text on the white sections of the background is unreadable on the About Me page
  19. Same!!!!!! PLUS my puppy ate my Photo5 box!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. A lappie's coat depends on their genetics, the climate and whether they are entire or desexed. There is variation as you've noticed. Generally they do have less coat than Samoyeds, but there are some lappies that have roughly the same thickness of coat. Lappies cope fine in summer provided they have shelter and plenty of water. Though my older girl likes to sunbake in 30 degree heat! She's a little nuts. Generally though, they tend to be less active during the day when it's hot and get active in the afternoon/evening when it's cooler. They have a double coat, so like Samoyeds they have insulation against the heat. Having a lappie in a paralysis tick area is a tough one. That would depend on a few things, but mostly on whether you would be willing to do an approximately 1-2-hour skin/coat examination (if your lappie is in full coat) to check for ticks EVERY DAY in tick season. If you weren't prepared to do that, then no I wouldn't recommend it (I wouldn't be recommending any long coated breed). The typical weight of a lappie - girls roughly 12-16kg, boys roughly up to 20kg (though there are some lappies that are outside these approximates).
  21. We changed from EP to Artemis and now we're having trouble getting Artemis!!!!!! Our usual stockist is stopping their supply because of reports of poor quality...
