  1. Have someone hold open the closed part and gradually start lowering it. +1
  2. There was a guy who ran the whole thing at our ET last year... I have to say that riding was much more relaxing compared to running a half marathon Which dog are you doing it with, Miss B?
  3. Now that 2011 is fast coming around the corner, I have started to think about the ET for next year! Jedi completed his ET last year down in Victoria and so 2011 is Ahsoka's turn! We'll start training in February once it cools down a bit, but I will be introducing the bike to her over the next month or so to make sure she's comfortable around it. Is anyone else planning to do one next year? 4. I don't own a sibe, but I do own a Keeshond and Finnish Lapphund which are fairly similar training-wise to Samoyeds... A training partner and friend of mine has a sibe (~Shell~) and there is a fair amount of difference between what is required for her to train Zero in comparison to my two. I can slacken off a little if I like with the 'rules' within my house and with what I do with training, but if Shell does - Zero will walk all over her. My two are also more biddable - they do question what I am asking of them, but are definitely easier to convince than a Sibe! :p
  5. Okay... My top 3 photos... There are more, but these are the ones that I first thought of
  6. You can make your own iPhone cases on there - you don't have to use the ones listed. http://www.cafepress.com.au/make/custom-iphone-cases
  7. I agree - I take my hat off to anyone who does weddings!!!!!! I took my camera to a friend's wedding and took a few shots here and there. That was fine - she didn't know I was bringing my camera! Unfortunately for her, she said that my shots were nicer than the pro's!!!!! The pro was very big on "posing" shots, whereas all of mine were just natural captures. In saying that, I don't think I would EVER do a wedding as the only photographer! I don't think I'm good enough and really don't need that sort of pressure! Anyway - well done to you jr - there are some lovely shots there! I bet they're thrilled!
  8. I have definitely noticed a difference between pre-points and currently in terms of neuter class. I used to show Jedi before it was a title and we'd rarely have competition for group and there would be maybe 2-3 dogs in the "in show" lineup. Now he is regularly having competition for Group and I have been to a few shows with a full line up for "in show". It has been less than 6 months and the numbers are growing - at least in NSW.
  9. Gah! I hate these threads! I actually love them, but I'm gonna have to think about this...
  10. Thanks Are you going to put up any videos SnT? Soaks is almost weaving closed poles! She's ohhhh so close!
  11. I ordered one the other day, too (not as a present). Like you, I didn't expect it to arrive so soon!!!! It made me feel organised when it arrived so quickly!
  12. She looks so grown up all of a sudden! I'm still loving that first photo!
  13. We use Huga's martinagles here!! We use martingales because they don't rub their fur off and they're easier to get on and off (try finding the clips/buckle in Jedi's coat!! )
  14. What is the name of the dog in the Nightmare Before Christmas? (seeing as it's almost Christmas!)
  15. Ooh! I know that one!! The Norwegian Lundehund! Love that dog!
  16. I was going to say.... What's wrong with Ruby?!!!! And Millie for that matter! You guys are going great! Millie is doing a lot of what Jedi was doing early on - he would stop and go "come on, where's my reward?" So I did a lot of standing at the end of the poles so he drove towards me a bit and he got out of the habit of stopping early. Once he did that a few times, I then moved back and he continued to drive forward. But I don't know if that would work for all dogs - worked for Jedi though.
  17. My only goal for 2011 is for Jedi to get the remaining 34 points for his Neuter Championship!
  18. Thanks girls! I'm very happy with his progress! But don't worry RS -- Soaks is far, far behind him I'd love to see some video of your guys, RS!!!
  19. Here you go.... In my indoor training facility... aka my living room
  20. Speaking of 2x2... Guess who is doing 6 poles and a jump! So proud of Jed! I'm excited to be taking the dogs to my parents place over Christmas - new places to proof their weaving!
  21. I have the same wish, RS! Once I graduate I'm going to move onto a property (hopefully 2 acres or so)... for now though, I have to put up with carrying equipment to the park (only a few houses down), doing stuff in my living room or being really selective about what I try to do in the backyard. It's long and narrow, so I could maybe fit 12 poles if I wanted... but that's it
  22. This is really good advice! It makes it so hard when you have 2 different dogs who learn & progress at different rates. Lowering expectations about speed of progress while maintaining criteria of exactly what you want will work. It may not happen overnight, but it will happen . Absolutely! Soaks learns so differently to Jedi... She "needs" a lightbulb moment, whereas Jedi just gets it from the start. He's a bit of a freak So I'm thankful for Soaks, because she really does challenge me as a trainer.
