  1. Well I'm not even going to bother with Jedi because his retrieve is non-existent! So I know that he'll just look at me and go "huh?" ??? I'll try it with Ahsoka because she may fluke it! She likes to play fetch but I haven't done formal retrieves with her.
  2. Do you know how much they charge for postage? I'd like to get the scent discrimination set as well! Ta. My postage was $7 (I ordered two small items)
  3. Wow... Check our those recalls!! Great video Kavik!
  4. My 15 week old pup LOVES play fighting with my 7 month old. They are always very noisy and they "sound" rough, but because they both have a lot of fluff I don't think they ever get to the skin!! LOL My 15 week old is always running around with Jedi's fluff in her mouth!!! It's ALWAYS my 15 week old pup that starts it, too and she's always yapping/barking/growling while they play. I think it's fine, just as long as no one is getting hurt.
  5. I bought my tunnel from the kids section in IKEA! $30! It's very light, so it's really not competition standard, but it's good enough at home for practice.
  6. I've made an order for a dumbbell too... It's so great that they do custom dumbbells!!
  7. Yah, I'm feeling you there!!!!!!! 15 week Ahsoka with hardly any training (I've been slack!) is beating 7 month old Jedi!!
  8. Yeah more challenges! These have been great fun and really interesting!
  9. Do you mean with Luci Ellen? "Carmarna" - 195 Fifth Avenue, Austral Ph: 9606 9454
  10. Yeah I do OB with Jedi. He's coming along well, but has just hit his teenage hood... Your Tali is beautiful!! I can't believe she is 13 1/2! Certainly doesn't look it!! Shoemonster - thanks for that site!!
  11. So cute!! Jedi likes it too - he's barking at the computer!!!!!
  12. I've found lots of places online overseas that sell wood dumbbells, but they are quite expensive when you factor in the shipping! I'm getting a little desperate now though and am considering it. Jedi HATES having plastic in his mouth so it is really putting us on the back burner dumbbell-wise. I am just using a piece of dowel at the moment instead. Once he has the wood down pat we can try other objects/materials. Ahsoka doesn't mind the plastic - she'll put anything in her mouth!!
  13. I changed Jedi and Ahsoka over from EP to Orijen because they were both not fussed on the EP - had to mix it with mince for them to touch it. And well... I think they are both converts!!!!!! When I first opened the packet and gave them a bit to try they SCOFFED it down so quickly!! I decided to do an experiment a few days later and put out some chicken necks and some Orijen.... Both of them (previously raw lovers) went for the Orijen!!!!!!!!!!!!! So, it's staying in our place! It's so nice to be able to just put the dry in a bowl and feed it rather than trying to 'spruce it up' with some mince!
  14. I thought I would repeat this because I was sure that Ahsoka had fluked it and I wanted to see what Jedi would do when he hadn't just been woken up from a big slumber! This time... Jedi finished in front, but was further out than usual, but he improved! And little Ahsoka repeated her previous performance and did a perfect finish in front.... Maybe I'm thinking of trialling with the wrong dog!
  15. Yeah, essentially it is a sit in front, nice and close to your legs. They also need to be straight.
  16. Jedi hated being groomed until I changed the brush I was using. Instead of using a crappy pin brush that cost me $20 I went and bought the best one I could find that was highly recommended by other kees owners. The instant I started using that one was the instant he started being tolerant of grooming... and I think now he might even enjoy it! Just be firm, do short sessions and lots and lots of rewards for standing still. But make sure you don't make a big fuss over it.
  17. Have you done any crate training with the two pups?? I would probably look into that as it will teach them to hold it during the night and dogs don't typically pee in their crate (or wherever they sleep). I would think that 6 month old Coolies should be able to hold their bladder overnight, unless they have a UTI or something... Once they have been trained to hold it overnight you can continue getting them to sleep in their crates or you can let them sleep wherever.
  18. I do free shaping with my guys but not very often. It's only when I want to enhance a behaviour that they already do (e.g. walking backwards). The rest of the time I use the clicker to shape already trained behaviours or to teach new ones (e.g. with luring). But focus is the second thing my guys learned (after sit) - which I teach with free shaping and using the clicker in a more formal way (sit in heel with focus).
  19. How interesting!!! Jedi (7 months old; clicker trained) - Recalled and sat at right angles to my leg... Then again, we have never worked on formal recalls except from in front. Not that that's an excuse because................. Ahsoka (15 weeks old; clicker trained) - Recalled with a perfect present to front - straight, nice and close, focus on me... the lot!! That was a huge surprise!!!!!! I thought she would sit behind me or who knows what, but definitely not what she did! I haven't done much formal recall work with her at all!!
  20. I agree with Huski. As long as the pup understands the 'rules' - then tugging is one of the best things you can play with your pup! Our guys know a "give" command - where they are asked to give it back on command while we are playing and then given a release command "okay" giving them permission to take it again. As long as your pup understands those two basic rules, then you are well on your way to enjoying tug with your pup!
  21. Wow, they are impressive!!!!!! Very nice!
