That's really interesting cos I nearly bought a soft crate - glad I didn't now! Although I must admit I just bought the bargain basement one from "The Warehouse" cos I figured that it was the right size for crate training (I have a tiny little papillon) - I could always upgrade when the pup gets bigger.... If needs be! I realise that most dogs will not fit into those crates even as puppies....

I have picked up my pup on Saturday and now I am going back to work - will check on him during my lunch break if I can - but having trouble with him in his play pen for an hour - so dunno how he will go ALL day! Do you think he will be ok?

We feed our Border Collie BARF (commercially made one) and she strives on it - loves the taste and she looks a lot better on it. I know we are doing the right thing by her! We also try to feed her home made stuff as well....

This is a really informative thread. Has put a few things in perspective about gender choice for my up coming pup.

This is ALL very interesting I am looking at adopting shortly and am keen to find out what others think is best practice as I will be at work ALL day and want to make sure puppy is ok at home by himself ALLDAY. We have 2 cats so I am thinking it might be safer to lock puppy in a room away from them. It's all very confusing with toileting - belly bands, training pads and going outside - enough to confuse any puppy - let alone the owner!
