I love my cats, and my dogs... Also am studying part-time to obtain a degree (one day).
  1. My puppies go whacko for ... watermelon
  2. Hi All I ended up buying a Petsafe Nano Bark Collar - but it doesn't seem to have ANY effect. I put it on him this morning and then left for work.... He is a bit fo a fluffy boy so I shaved his front so that the sensor is closer to his skin, and have it on quite firmly, I only hope that it does the trick. He was barking a dog in the street as we were leaving and it did not seem to have any effect. With regard to habitation, we have two dogs, and two cats so it is not preferrred to have him in the house during the day as he needs to be locked in a (our) room away from the cats, and I have heard him bark from the window anyways when he is in our room! http://www.dogmaster.com.au/cat/index.cgi/...oduct_id=692083 thx
  3. Please don't flame me… I have a bit of barky problem with my Papillion, he likes to bark at the postie, people walking down the street, cats in the street, garbage man et al. Which is normally fine and I correct him when I am at home but I think (know) that he barks a lot while I am at work – and he is in the yard. Our neighbours are not playing nice, and I want to prevent the council being involved. The options are to stop him by locking him in the house all day – not nice… or… I have decided to buy a collar for the little man – so does any one know whats the best one for my 3.5 kg dynamo? THANKS!
  4. My male papillon pees everywhere (outside of course) - and sometimes get it over himself due to his long fur.... It gets very annoying on walks!! Our girl BC is a lot better - just wees when she needs to and with the help of gravity doesn't get it on herself. The boy does manage to poo in less obvious places than the girl but I don't think this is a gender thing as he runs and hides in the garden for his abolutions - well except that he poos near fences/poles as if he is weeing....
  5. Big Dog are the people who actually manufacture BARF ... And we have not been able to find it any cheaper (you get a discount for 4 or more boxes). We have not bought there bones but ... next time...
  6. I personally don't like all the cereal grains - but I was desperate to find something that my dog would like. Suffice to say he hated it.... REALLY hated it.... He lurves his BARF patties!!.
  7. I am using this product on my 6 MO papillon puppy because it covers everything (except Ticks), and boy he thinks it's the best things since slice bread (or what ever the doggy option is)..... Laps it up like it's the best treat ever!
  8. Have you been to the vet yet? What did they say???
  9. All of the Petcafe's in my area sell them.If you're willing to travel to the Northside you can get them straight from the manufacturer: http://www.bigdogpetfoods.com/barfpatties.htm They are a LOT cheaper from the manufacturer if you can make it up there - you just have to buy 4 or more *BOXES* of the patties.... I wish I had room in my freezer for that many!!! edited cos I can't write/type enlish
  10. I have been following this thread and although I thought that I wasn't qualified as some to provide I just watched. I wanted to say how great it is that you have been able to put some of advice into action! Good on you! I know how good it is when you get through to the pup. One thing that I have learnt in my recent experiences is the value of CONSISTENCY. They seem to adapt well in routine!!!
  11. I also had this problem with both of our dogs. Those kiddy gates work a treat! My OH half also tried the UHUH, which worked on the older dog, but the younger is crazy!!
  12. We had some sleep-little nights as the puppy settled in, I think the key is to find something that you WANT and stick to it, if you change things a round too much they can cause problems... They will cry when put to bed, but they soon stop when they realise that crying aint getting them any where! That being said our puppy started out in a "pen" in our room and is now in the guest room...
  13. I am dieing of suspense here to know what the breed is.... I have a5 month old papillon, so am a bit of a one eyed support of THAT toy breed. Would love to see pictures of your new puppy (... please ... :0) )
  14. Sorry this is not help, but I wanted to comment that my puppy (5 months old Papillon) does it all the time. But it is not extended, (He actually reminds me of a ballerina) he will do it for a minute - if that - and then do something else...... It's like he finds his tail again chases it and then has a nother thought track... ... I thought it was cute - but now I am worried that it might turn into something obsessive ... I am going to try and distract him when he does it from now on!
  15. Thanks for your words of advise. Thats pretty much what the vet told me ... so we will just live with this specialness!
