I have to say that I do have a soft spot for casowner's Azure and Wolff. They are magnificant dogs :D Agree. You'd need the right circumstances and home for one but they are amazing animals. Thanks :) I haven't come in to recommend them because I don't think they are right in this situation, the CAS is in my heart and soul. Azure and Wolff are polar opposites, Azure is the hunter and Wolff the stoic defender. I have never met a more stable dog as Wolff and it is a big call for me to say this but he is much better than Jake was in the way that Wolff does not make reactive mistakes. All of his reactions are done with precision and timing, I just love him. While I adore Azure she will be my one and only ASD, they are not the breed that I see in my future Wolff is 6 1/2 months and a very big boy, he will be having his first show at the end of the month that will be interesting This is from my facebook page the other night "I just re learned the benefits of owning LGD's, I just went out for my usual late night cuddle and was sitting back on the bench with my head rested on the window. Azure standing up with two front legs on the seat with her head nuzzled into my neck with Wolff sitting up close facing me having his ear rubbed when all of a sudden Wolff leaped up and hit the window. I jumped up and turned to see the biggest MFing spider I have even seen right next to where my head was. Azure and Wolff then proceeded to beat it to death with their paws, Wolff then picked it up and took it to the far end of the yard and then came back to resume their cuddle"

Is This A Standard Groomers Technique?
casowner replied to Little Gifts's topic in General Dog Discussion
Many people used to cage wash cats especially after clipping, it isn't a technique that I like. When we did cats we would have a nominated cat only day once a fortnight or month so that there was not the added stress of dogs barking etc. A quiet environment with only my most trusted, capable handlers. Cat skin tears if cut by scissors or blades unlike dogs that will generally gauge or cut bits, cat skin is literally like skinning an animal and when you lift up the fur the skin is so soft it comes with it. We used to do 4 Persians that would stand like dogs, they were gorgeous. Cats require someone that is very skilled with clippers, grooming tools, a highly capable handler and someone that is very good at reading cat behaviour and body language. I would never take a cat to a salon that would do a cat in the same area as dogs but that is just me, the same as I would not take my dog to a salon that would have cats in where there is dogs -
"beware Of Dog" Sign Makes You Liable?
casowner replied to aussiecattledog's topic in General Dog Discussion
We simply have "No unauthorised entry, dogs on premises" In my younger days I used to have one that said "It takes you 30 seconds to get from the house to the gate, it takes the dog 10" and "If the dogs don't get ya the shotgun will" We also have LGD's and we are installing 3 sets of gates including 2 sets of intercoms so if people come through and have ignored signs/gates/intercoms then I have taken all precautions -
I have livestock guardians, an anatolian shepherd and a central asian shepherd dog and regardless of all of the socialisation/nuture in the world once THEY come of age the true nature of what they were bred to do kicks in. I had a CASD that was socialised to the eyeballs but once he hit 3 there was no way he would tolerate anyone new on his property. I am always mindful of LGD breeds regardless of what their owners say.

Polo looks very cute, I have a sheep with one eye and we have to be careful what side to approach her as she startles. He looks like a lovely boy, good luck with him

Leaving some background noise on for them such as the radio can distract from other outside noises, stimulation toys such as a bob a lot with their dry food in it, blocking any view to the sidewalk/front of house if they have it, long lasting treats or chews, a couple of extra beds to give choice etc Collar as a last resort, they also now have vibration ones which are much more gentle than sprays/static

You should when you come down to the City, we are thinking about showing him due to his nature, he loves people but that will change as he matures but I think he would enjoy being out and about. Azure was not happy with her chosen career as a showgirl and that is ok, their happiness is the most important thing to me

DD this one is a month or so old now but my boys just adore him....and his human eyes
-
DD nothing suprises me at this place, the bull camel and female emu are the best friends I have ever seen  Bad pic but shows his height next to my 14 month old ASD. They look skinny but are far from it, it is just the angle Sibling rivalry, it is how they play .... rough

his first swim, what a water baby he was unimpressed about being on the lead and making sure that Luke was safe at the new house worksite

My baby boy is now 4 1/2 months old and just heartwarmingly divine, I swear that Jake and Chief have conspired at Rainbow Bridge to bring me a bit of both of them back

I guess the same can be said for registered breeders with blue staffords I waited for 3 years for my pup, I was going to get a girl but got as female ASD nearly a year earlier so was waiting for a male. Luckily I changed as the bitch only had 2 male pups

I own a pet shop, we do not sell puppies instore or back door or any other way. We have a rescue group that comes in (in the first year and their first year 400 animals were rehomed) and we recommend SACA but some people want a designer cross, all the pure breed convincing will never change that. Regarding prices and not speaking about puppies but "products" shops have high overheads - rent, staff (up to $45hr each on Sundays), superannuation, electricity, phone, taxes and the list goes on so while bybers etc breed two dogs together they do not have the overheads that a business does. I do not know of any store that charges those prices in SA unless they are frenchies or their crosses
