  1. Wolff and Azure loved their ice blocks so I have stacked the freezer
  2. If the dog was sold and wasn't as was advertised/claimed then technically they are entitled to a refund, all pet shops, private sellers, possibly shelters need to be aware of that. Animals are products being sold so if they are not as described then it is murky, this is why it is better to never call a breed something in particular or 2 crosses unless you absolutely know the parentage. It is much better to name the dominating breed and then write cross or simply cross breed She may be an irresponsible byber but the law still protects them
  3. I just read through this thread and saw the troll bashing that kittycat got and the posts afterwards seem that they were not far off the mark, how sad and unfair on the poster. Calling yourself a rescue doesn't make you a rescuer
  4. Same here, not far from you either Casowner. Down to 23ÂșC atm and it's beautiful. Doggo got all excited as he got to go out for a run. In regards to fires. My Nan has been evacuated to Swan reach as she lives at Sedan...fires expected to hit Sedan at 10pm....in 30 mins to hit Cambrai. 4am Angaston Most of my relatives are from Mannum through to Swan Reach it is such a horrible time I was up at the new house on Tuesday and saw the lightning strikes and was visibly shaking and then the smoke started, it was the OTH fire but it looked like it was just over the ridge I was actually thinking about you across the valley My animals are so much happier too, my old mini has really struggled
  5. The cool change and wind is just divine, I have opened every door and window. I have been sick with stress being paranoid about bushfires
  6. I have these ones, Wolff goes into the big one and has room for his kiddie pool bucket and bed, they have half the roof covered and also come with a shade cloth cover. It is really solid and sturdy. We are deleting them and have a couple left but I have been tossing up whether to bring another home to add onto his but we are in the process of building 2 large dog runs at the new house anyway kazoo dog run
  7. I have been feeding my dogs their food frozen - diced roo, chicken mince etc, I buy it in 1kg blocks and they spend ages gnawing through it and it cools them down. I am going to make them some stock and water blocks tonight and put some treats in there I just did it and put them in the work freezer in mealworm tubs that I can pop out - water, good oil, duck jerky, fish treats, liver, meat roll, kangaroo jerky and some of their other fave treats so will see how they go
  8. I have a couple of the rescue groups kittens here atm as it is too hot to transport them and one loves this and the others are loving their window ledge with a cool mat
  9. We were outside doing a rainwater tank pad and I was watching the lightning getting paranoid of fires and then the plumes of smoke started, next minute there were 4 planes & a helicopter flying over my head. There were 2 fires near us but not a threat, luckily the small rain shower started. The thunder upset Wolff a little bit too
  10. My neighbour came to see me yesterday and they have started ringing CKCS breeders for a pup and they said out of the 4 they rang within the first 2 sentences they were told that "they would not be breeding with it". They have no intention in breeding all they want is a Blenheim puppy from a good breeder that will be a loved and well cared for family pet, desexed, vaccinated yadadada. I spent a good 20 mins talking to them about continuing their search for a breeder that explained why breeders had this attitude rather than ones that barked it at them as they have been quite put off by the way they were spoken to. These are really good people that can offer a dog an exemplary home which I can vouch for, they are doing their research have waited for over 10 years to get one and one of them has retired so he/she will have company. The husband has just gotten a rescue pup to be outside with him during the day and within days has built an amazing safe yard for when he isn't home and is building a dog house with verandah, lookout etc. I strongly advocate going to registered breeders but the passion that comes out to a puppy buyer can be seen as attitude and condescension which is why a lot of people end up looking at pet shops, gumtree and rescue. These people are convinced that they want a good puppy so if anyone has any recommendations preferably in SA can you let me know please
  11. This is how mine spend the day, please note the hose in the water this was in the process of filling it up with CLEAN water  I have two and we use the thicker ones from Bunning's as the clam shaped ones get chewed up
  12. Offer is there whenever you need it just let me know the day before, I work Mon, Wed & Friday's :)
  13. The cooling bandana's re good for oldies or braccy breeds too
  14. I have a wire one that you can borrow (36") I think and a crate cover if you would like to borrow it to see how he goes with it. I can bring them to work Wednesday if you like that way you can see if it is worth buying one
  15. Cas now I'm really pricjking my ears up - where did you get your fans with water wells? They sound terrific. Sadly my woosie guys won't go near water - I got them as adults and don't think they had any experience with it at all before they came to me. Hope your pony will be OK - very hard at that age. I got mine from Deals Direct but saw them at Big W this morning for $70, I have them by the rabbits and birds and you could not tell there is water it looks like a white smoky mist and even with your hand there it doesn't get wet but it is really cold air
  16. I have bought pedestal fans with the water wells and the mist comes out ice cold and feels dry My two have 2 wading pools full of water, they will lay in them most of the day. I worry more about my kangaroos and 40 year old mini pony
  17. I have deactivated my account (temporarily) so if you can just do it here :) Oh ok do you still have the same email? I don't think I can send PDF files via PM Yes I do :)
  18. I have deactivated my account (temporarily) so if you can just do it here :)
  19. ASD,CAS or Maremma? Can you pm it to me please, thanks
  20. What Lilli says echoes my two Azure is the plains dog a thinker with incredible agility and stamina, one that once she recognises what she considers a threat she will work out the quickest and fastest way to get to it - many cases are life or death butterfly threats  Wolff is my mountain bear, the quiet unassuming giant that reacts with such incredible force without any prior hint that no spider is safe Blatant pic opportunity of my baby, doesn't he look like Falkor the luck dragon? The happiest face running back to his "shepherd" Stalking butterflies is serious business
  21. My old CAS would go through/over fences and bring back orphaned lambs to the house, he was houses with emus/kangaroos/turkeys etc and accepted them in his territory. Wild kangaroos etc were not, he did not leave his boundaries CAS to me are easier dogs to live with than ASD but CAS have extreme brute force when they perceive a threat and what we perceive as a threat is not necessarily what they do. I have found that Azure is a hunter and a thinker, Wolff is not reactive at all until the time to react is warranted and when that happens it is done with amazing speed and force. Understanding what drives each dog is a huge necessity to be able to live harmoniously, my two are polar opposites. For example Azure will not tolerate new people on the property and reacts accordingly, Wolff takes cues from me and if I am calm he will lay at my feet and watch the new person. Regarding donkeys my Willow showed the true nature of a guardian donkey two nights ago, I took Wolff up and she wanted to kill him she was throwing herself at the fence and then ran back to me and licked over the fence and then hunted Wolff again. If she was in the same paddock she would have tried to kill him
  22. Any dog with a high prey drive on property can be a huge risk unless you have fantastic fencing, stock owners do not take kindly to roaming dogs. We want a dog to protect us but is even more important for us to protect them with suitable fencing & responsible breed choices.
