  1. Oregano in food is a natural appetite stimulant, you could mix some in her food, it works for my fusspot
  2. Umm I TRIED to do obedience with mine, focus - yes on what SHE wanted to focus on, good luck kelpiepupmum, I am having flashbacks. Must go lie down, take panadol, think happy thoughts It's the jealousy talking, not me, I promise ;) Oh my god I'm turning into my 7 year old
  3. I know kelpiemum - call him 'mine" and be done with it :nahnah: You know you don't need slobbery lips in the hot weather, the big droopy lips and jowls slapping on you in the middle of the night, the panting, the puppy breath etc do I need to go on or should I just pm you my address now
  4. Kelpiepupmum I have desperately been trying to ignore your thread all night - out of pure jealousy of course :D Damn you woman, and you live so close to me too, I will have to close my eyes when I am driving - just in case Seriously congratulations, you will love the baby and if not you can drop him off to me ;)
  5. Logged on now in fact, please update the concerned readers, you have been given support and advice and people are genuinely interested and concerned about the condition of the pup.
  6. Have the pups been to the vets at all for health checks? It concerns me that as a Registered Breeder you are not seeking treatment for a puppy that you are concerned about. If it was my first litter I would be getting them checked regularly by a vet or another breeder. Do you have a mentor? Please put your opinions aside and seek help for the puppy it is cruel not to seek help for sick animals, I am sorry if this sounds mean, but you were responsible for breeding it so you should be responsible for ensuring it gets quality care.
  7. I say separate too, prey drive is a natural instinct, he isn't a natural flock guarding breed - even then they need "lots" of training. Maybe do lead work in the yard with him, but don't let him off, the last thing you want is him to grab hold of one. They run, he chases, he chases, they run, this is natures way. You may be able to train him to "leave it", but please don't leave him off lead with them until the hard work is done.
  8. We sell them, half the time they come in broken though - squashed or cracked. The wholesaler is Masterpet, you could email them and ask where their closest distributer is
  9. Pegetables dog treats are great there is caeeot, corn and celery ones, Jake loves them and he isn't a big treat eater, the bunnies and guinea pigs think they are pretty good too
  10. When you go back pretty please stick the buckskin boy in the back, you can add the pali & white pinto (just for company), and detour down here to SA, pleeeease
  11. Was the photos taken near a waterfall on the way to Grafton, down a dirt rd and they had a few mules and possibly clydies. I remember seeing a paddock of similiar horses and I was in love when we drove over in Feb
  12. Is it just me or is that bay a mule that you can see in the side profile ? (first picture) looks like he/she has the standard donkey cross down the wither. I :D the buckskin too
  13. It does say on their website in the guestbook that people have bought their puppies from pet shops overseas, but most look like they have been found through this site. To me not a good advertisement for dogzonline when the RSPCA is having a go and breeders are already in the firing line. It says they scan the guest book replies so I don't think yours will be "approved". Good luck with your new baby it is a shame that at a time when you should be so happy you are caught up with these circumstances.
  14. I took this today when Diego, my colt was playing with the camels
  15. One simple touch, a lifetime of memories It started with one simple touch Love is...........
  16. Start off with 25% RC 75% EP, then gradually 50%/50%, then 75% RC 25% EP before going onto just RC. Depends on his stomach how quickly the change over should be, normally 1-2 weeks for sensitive dogs. Then again most shelter dogs get what is served up on the day, I would still do gradual changeovers though
  17. Yesterday I went for a little stroll in the paddock with my trusty camera and turned around to see that I was being followed - Off camera was another horse, camel and a donkey. I love my furred family
  18. Pumpitdog if you feel silly, here is my pathetic story. I lost my heart dog Chief 6 years ago, he was my world. It was very sudden and I didn't get to say goodbye, he was only 7 and 4 months to the day. I only went back to my house which I still own a couple of weeks ago as my home felt empty without him there, I stayed for a few months initially, I separated from my husband as he didn't understand. I am pathetic I knowMost people can't if you have that strong a bond. I went and picked up his urn and brought it here to my new home and I finally feel better. I still cry almost daily but my heart isn't quite as damaged. His plaque says "Chieftan" 4/4/96 - 4/9/03 My truest Friend, My Protector, The love of my Life. In my heart forever. I have written in my will that his urn is to be buried with me. So please understand that there are plenty of others that feel the same as you.
  19. Jake was desexed the day he turned 6 months old, he is over 80 kgs and still growing. I don't think it has affected his growth negatively at all. Even though this is a really crappy picture of him, he is in proportion and I have not seen any growth issues with him apart from a elbow hygroma which he got when he was younger, it has gone completely now with compress bandages. The vet wanted to operate, but he was only 1 year old and I didn't want him opened up and risking a skin graft on his elbow while he was growing. I'm glad we didn't do it. Jake was always going to be desexed so I didn't feel the need to wait until he matured and as it happens he is over 2 and still maturing.
  20. My CASD is very well socialised, he goes to classes and meets lots of people. Put him on his own property with anything that he percieves as a threat I believe would be a different situation. My definition of a threat and his may well be totally different. I wouldn't even guess his reaction in what I would consider a threat situation when out of his home environment, but I am confident in it in his own environment that he would do as his forebears would, and that is guard his territory. I have seen him be a cuddly teddy bear one second and be a true livestock guardian in a flash, I must admit as a scaredy cat that is frightened of the dark (pathetic I know) that for the first time in my life I can confidently go to sleep at night if I am home alone (albeit with every light on in the house). If CASD's are considered in the same grouping as Anatolians I must be very irresponsible taking my "liability" out in public, however I thought that socialisation was healthy, especially if he is under effective control and all of my past students I believe have benefitted from meeting him.
  21. You got to love breeders of "shitzus" and the rare "golden labrador". seriously shouldn't you be able to spell the breed correctly and get the colour right, or is gold the new yellow and I have been living in a cave, and don't forget the "easy care" poodles. Sarcasm is coming out of me tonight, I'm sorry.
  22. May not be the same but sounds similiar to my joey, it ended up being a broken veterbrae at the base, the end went cold which means circulation has stopped and I spent 9 hours solid doing cold then warm compresses. It was hell and 8 weeks later she is finally on the road to recovery. I hope it isn't broken and is just a sprain poor baby
  23. As a first time CASD owner I must say I have never learnt so much about animal behaviour in my 20 years plus working in the Animal Industry. I am the very proud owner of Jake a 2 year old desexed male CASD. From day one we called him "The Depressant" as he is very aloof and is affectionately known in the local area as the stuffed teddy on the hill due to his favouritte lookout point. We have a 140 acre property in the Adelaide Hills and Jakes charges include a cat, camels, horses, ponies, a donkey, a goat, kangaroos, euros, turkeys, alpacas, peacocks, rabbits, guinea pigs, sheep, emus, chickens, a little pom cross and of course, my family. He is becoming more content to give and receive attention as he matures, his guarding tendancies are becoming much stronger also. He does need to be given a very clear indication of pack order as he is a very dominant dog even though most people would dispute that due to his laid back nature. While he seems lazy he has amazing speed and agility when the need arises. He prefers to pick fruit from the fruit trees over bones etc and is not a guts when it comes to food. He has never been destructive, however we have had issues with barking due to numerous reasons including a tosser of a neighbour and wild rabbits daring to cross our paddock, he also barks whenever our male turkey "Gobbles" it is very strange but they say turkeys are good at noticing trouble too, but who knows. He is a massive dog that is still growing, his coat thickens heavily during winter, he prefers to be outside and will stress if inside. They are truly a majestic breed, I believe I will be a lifetime CASD owner, but they definately require an owner that is dedicated to their breed and appreciate and understand their natural instincts.
