  1. If the person has paid for a puppy with papers I would presume that they are still entitled to the papers, I would contact your governing body and advise them that the pup had died but unless you are refunding the purchase price of the puppy I think they should get them. They may want them to keep them as a record for future use to check lineage of any other pup that they look at or they may want them for what you have suggested, however I do believe that if they have paid for a registered pup they should be entitled to the papers. If you are being threatened then I would definately recommend reporting them to the authorities though. If you refuse to supply papers I would presume that under consumer law the client has not got what they paid for, and could go through Consumer Affairs to recover costs. If you have informed them that the remaining pups that you had were sick and one had died they may be going down that line anyway, whether they have a case or not that is for others to determine. Does it say on the pups papers the microchip number? If it does then they couldn't use them for another dog anyway and of course it would need to be identical also for them to go there. I would request that all further contact between you and them be done via email so that there is a record of all conversations in case it is required in the future.
  2. VC while I fully respect your comments I truly think that if this thread has given anyone reading it a reason to smile after this week and if DB is taking some rib shots well so be it. From what I have read and seen he has been a thorn in the side of many great breeds and breeders who have spent a lifetime dedicated to their passion. Some people do not accept their faults and in this case I don't think he will ever change his attitude or mind because in his over opiniated head he would then have to accept that he may have been wrong for all of these years. I haven't seen so smily, winking or laughing emoticons in one thread all week and I hope it continues so it can even if for a second take peoples minds off what the tragedy that has befallen a family and the dog community. I know for me when I see the term DD avertised I automatically think of the term Don's Debacle rather than Designer Dog and I am not involved in breeding, I am just very passionate about dogs in general
  3. I was just re reading the thread and could visualise one of his employees coming across this thread and reading it. I can imagine them nodding their head in complete understanding and then trying not to crack a smile or smirk when they informed the "Great Big D" about it's contents
  4. I think the announcement would go something like this "And the award for the Tool of the Year goes to.......drumroll............ Don Bourke" Hushed silenced, then hysterical laughter ensues for 10 minutes. On the table settings you could have those plastic dogs where you connect the bits and whoever makes the most inventive one can have a new breed named after them Or we could have an new award for the funniest thread of the year and name it the "Bourkey" instead of the "Turkey"
  5. Is there any award that Jed can be nominated for because of her bravery in trying to rescue her pets?
  6. I think you need to get Deshonko Kennels onto that one, PF will make a packet just in time for Sexpo doing the rounds around Australia.
  7. I didn't think he was interested in any breed unless it had doodle in the name of it? Maybe he wants to look at breeding Xolodoodles?
  8. Cockney definition of Burke from the Urban Dictionary 1. noun: A coniving person consumed with self-interest and completely lacking in morality or any other redeeming qualities, exemplified by an abuse of power or act of subversion.
  9. Many of us say that we wouldn't hesitate to save our animals in a situation such as this, Jed showed her true love and dedication to her animals by placing her own life at risk to save her family, that is a true testament I believe to the kind of person that she is. Jed has shown us us by her actions what commitment and dedication is to all of the lives that we allow into our homes and hearts and if I have learnt anything from this tragedy it is that there are truly wonderful, selfless people in this world. The loss of these lives, whilst I do not know any of them breaks my heart and reminds me of all of the souls that I myself have lost over the years and my heart is aching for them, I can not imagine the grief that Jed and her family will be facing for years to come.
  10. I agree that he may be too boisterous for puppy pre school especially when there is off lead time, I believe there was another thread recently with a member and his/her SBT pup having issues with over excitedness. My little pom cross still has aversions to other dogs due to boisterous off lead SBT pups at puppy pre school jumping on her and hurting her. You may well cause more issues than good at PPS and I agree either basic obedience or private tuition will be more beneficial. I refer to staffords as wombats on steroids (affectionately of course ) and they need a calm, assertive owner who can put the time into training them from an early age, it is much better to do the ground work at this age than trying to overcome issues in a few months time.
  11. I would presume most farmers if they won a pup and didn't require or want one would pass it up anyway, most don't want pets and only have time for them if they are going to be an asset for them.
  12. I was wondering if it would be appropriate for someone that knows Jed and the dogs that have passed to maybe put a thread in the Rainbow Bridge section so that we can all pay our final respects to them and honour them with our hopes for a safe passage? This topic has given everyone affected personally and emotionally an outlet to share in their grief and wishes for Jed's recovery. I just thought that maybe we could have an area for those precious souls to have dedicated to their memories, but it may not be appropriate I am not sure.
  13. I do hope that those that are handling the surviving animals and also dealing with those that were tragically lost have as much support as they need (emotional and physical), the job they are doing is amazing but no doubt would be taking a huge emotional toll on them too. They must be grieving terribly for their friend and animals that would probably know and love, my heart truly goes out to you. There is nothing that can be done for those innocent lives that have been lost apart from ensuring that they make their journey to Rainbow Bridge safely and Jed can be comforted in the fact that her friends treated them with as much love and dignity as she did when they were alive.
  14. I have used Holistic Animal Medicines, they are in Perth and have a website. My animals have used their products from severe nerve damage, congestive heart failure, broken bones, blindness, stress, seizures etc and have had great results.
  15. I manage a retail pet store, I am happy to put up a new Snuggle Safe Microwave Heat Pad (value $75 plus) and freight for the auction.
  16. It would be lovely if a plaque could be made for Jed to have for her to remember her beloved animals that she has lost, I know it helped me when I have lost treasured pets and it is in the place where I can go to share my memories and grief.
  17. There will be tears by candlelight down here in the Adelaide Hills as well as lots of animal cuddles and prayers for those lost and for those who need to heal. It will be a long journey for all of those close to Jed but the thought of so many like minded people sharing her grief can hopefully help.

  19. I am yet another who does not know Jed, but I have always respected her clear passion for her animals. I know that tonight I will be taking the time to remind each and every one of mine how important they are to my life and happiness. An absolutely horrific tragedy for Jed and the dog world, RIP little ones you will all meet again some day. I hope her physical healing is speedy, but I am sure that the emotional healing will take a lifetime. My sincerest condolensces

  21. I thought the main criteria was yellow eyes, red noses, short hair and that is enough proof to prove a pitty. God help us all
  22. I am sure the difference in his rehab/recovery knowing that his dog is safe and will come home will be huge. Well done everyone
  23. Jake may look up towards my direction or if I am really lucky I will get a slight tail wag
