  1. My partner and I joined to watch their specials and my OH gets weekly at least emails, me once per 6 months or so
  2. DogFx the owners are really lovely, not only to the customers face but to the dogs too Being a groomer for over 20 years myself I have seen "customer face" and "groomer face" and sometimes they aren't on the same person. Agree with The Groomery too but not sure she is taking new clients but well worth a try
  3. Probably how they were caught in the first place before going there, traps
  4. I didn't even consider that to be honest no I meant that they would know their share is safe regardless and they are aware that rescues can not fundraise without one
  5. One of the selling points from HSTFO's is that they have the fundraising licenses so they are fully aware the others can not benefit from donations/profits they also do not microchip their cats which is not a legal requirement in SA but most rescues do so at least the cats can be tracked back if they are lost. As I said RSPCA would know where these cats came from and the rescue involved so that may not be the last heard about it, being semi ferals I would hate to see the results of feline aids test if they were done
  6. I believe that the cats (semi ferals) that are taken there are delivered by another no kill cat rescue in SA who then takes back easier to rehome kittens etc, the RSPCA would be well aware of this
  7. Apparently not the same property but that persons dogs and the person responsible was friends with those involved at the other ones, likeminded scum
  8. They absolutely did it the wrong way last time I do not advocate what happened last time at all nor do I support the group responsible. I am appalled that the exposure did not stop the practices from continuing and I am glad it was handled correctly this time. All I have ever cared about is the animals and the fact that this has gone on and people have no conscience about how animals are housed and treated
  9. This is when it got publicity for a few photos and no one seemed overly bothered but now it has been seen for what it always was ......different story. I am pretty sure it is the same place as same breeds & same area, I could barely express my disgust then and to think months later those poor bloody dogs are finally getting rescued Previous story
  10. Then it is that puppy farm as "the Manager" or now ex manager breeds frenchies and shows them, the same person that I got told off about, disgusting. I know she was breeding pug cross frenches as my friend bought one from her
  11. I am pretty sure they will not send them interstate and am also thinking that it is the same puppy farm that was in the news thread a while ago that had Adelaide Now go there after OL took photos
  12. Clearly Jason loves his rrrrrrrrrrrrr's I would have thought he would have been better at reading, riting a rthymatic
  13. It is abhorrent that those that know the dogs, know the shelter and know the community are being pushed aside over someone with a bigger ego and voice. The only ones to suffer when everyone walks away once the circus has left town is the animals
  14. If he has only been there a week I would presume negotiations had been underway for quite a while beforehand but it is an awesome step especially seeing as though the SA RSPCA has been getting a social media flogging about rescue. Great job
  15. Wow that couldn't be any clearer could it? Hopefully pressure builds where it is needed
  16. oh yes what a great way to put a target on your cause Thanks Snook yes I meant what groups that have asked him to speak
  17. Yeah that makes sense, it just always makes me wonder as only one gets the negative publicity on kill rates and the AWL gets more animals through I believe so it would be interesting to do a rehoming, return, euthanasia comparison on the two
  18. Can I ask why people focus on RSPCA kill rates and not the AWL? I am not supporting any side apart from the animals but I always see comments about the high RSPCA kill rates when the AWL is high too or was when I was there, very high
  19. I believe that the conditions that the animals were kept in will be brought up in court and that is now a legal matter for the justice system to determine.
  20. I would like to reiterate that I am not a part of any rescue or shelter, I do however support rescue which I will continue to do in the future. My only concern is for the animals and not just those at the two mentioned shelters/sanctuaries rescue is just becoming a newish thing in SA moreso for dogs/cats and I believe that it needs to be done ethically and responsibily and support any steps forward in the right direction. We are the caretakers of animals in our care whether it be temporarily or permanently and if we take on that responsibilty for any period of time we must be able to do it to the best standard possible. I have no agenda, I have no history with either shelter I am just honestly interested in animal welfare and believe that through mistakes we learn and that is the key we must learn from our mistakes, admit them and take on board criticisms and grow from them
  21. Can you explain what makes you a licensed sanctuary? I have a specialist permit and I have well over 100 animals and have over 20 years experience (not just natives) but do not consider myself a sanctuary. I believe to be an animal rescuer (domestic or native) that you have to be able to provide better than the standard care financially and environmentally for any animal in your care and a true rescuer does not take in more than they can afford or house. Those that rescue responsibly do so within their own means and should not rely on public donations of money or food etc to be able to care for the animals in their care. I am incredibly passionate about animal care, welfare and ethics but I do not buy into the "it was the best for the animals" line as love and good intentions do not help animals alone, responsibility, experience, finances and ethics do and I absolutely commend and support those that do the right thing I am not stirring or having a go at you but if someone expects or relies on the support or public to be able to care for any animal in their care especially those running private interests at their home then they should be able to explain the why's and how's and as I said I am very passionate about animal care. My focus has always been and always will be focused on the animals and how they are cared for, animals are a highly emotive subject and you will get extreme reactions from both sides but there is no room for pride or ego Edited to add that my focus is on domestics at this time as I believe natives require much more time in regards to their care so I am concentrating on creating the safest possible environments for them before I start to take them in
  22. Mark what makes you call your animal rescue a sanctuary as opposed to the hundreds of carers of natives in SA that do it with their own finances and not just a love of animals? Genuine question as I know many people that rescue animals and that is what they are animal rescuers
