  1. I've got a black dog one. I dont think a dog would be able to get his nose in as it closes quite tight. I am not sure how to describe what it is made out of but its sort of like two bits of metal that pop open and shut.....that doesn't make any sense...you might just need to pop down to a pet shop & have a look I got mine from Mega pet warehouse.
  2. I go to the Lilydale Petstock too but haven't used the bath yet, have been meaning to for a while now to see what its like. I'll have to get my bum into gear and do it!
  3. hehehehe That is so cute. Mmmmmm I love vegemite I swear I could live off it mmmm I want some now
  4. I am not sure. But they are quite big. All the trainers are qualified have done a course through NDTF (National Dog Trainers Federation)
  5. I think they're pretty good. Lots of locations and the price depends on what package you take. There is a few eg. Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Bronze covers basic obedience where as Platinum lets you go as far as you like. I think bronze starts at a couple of hundred $ and it goes up from there, but membership is for the lifetime of your dog. Also they have information sessions which you could take your pup along to, have a chat and see if they suit you.
  6. Boodzey will be one in July I have to upload some better grown up pictures, as he's even bigger now.
  7. Yes I watched that episode too, although that dogs problem seemed quite different to Trixies's and possibly Jakes too. I have to admit though I have sort of given up on Trix with the skate board as its not too much of an issue with me. But I might try some of these suggestions myself.
  8. Ooooh Trixie does the same thing. Haven't been able to successfully desensitise her to them either
  9. Thank you for that. Your little story has given me hope!
  10. I decided I wanted to try clicker training with Trixie. We just attempted our first conditioning session but Trix is absolutely terrified of the sound! She was trying to crawl away and wouldn't accept any treats. Trix never turns down food but she was actually turning her head to avoid it. She has always been afraid of loud noises eg. thunderstorms, people thudding around and talking loudly but I didn't think the clicker would be a problem. Any suggestions or is clicker training just never going to happen for us
  11. Thanks for all of your replies guys Alot of helpful info
  12. Hello my ACDx Trixie has a pretty thick coat and no matter how long I brush her for there always seems to be loose hair. It seems to be fluffy underneath and smooth on top and very waterproof which is annoying when washing her as it takes ages to get her entirely wet. I was just wondering if any one could advise me on what brush I should be using on her to get rid of all of the excess hair. Or if there is a system that I should be doing. Dont know much about grooming so any info would be greatly appreciated
  13. Oh that sounds fun and its very close. Thank you
  14. We had the same problem. We bombed the house countless times with bombs from the supermarket. But turned out the fleas were coming from under the house. We got a company to come out and spray, they did the whole house, under the house and from the house to fence line. We had to take the animals away for a few hours with us but were fine after that.
  15. I used to train my dog with a haltie years ago as it was a requirement of the obedience school (she is about 10 now) I do not need any of these tools. I was merely asking for peoples opinions out of curiosity as I have heard various answers.
  16. Just wondering what everones opinion is on the right age to start using a check chain, haltie ect?
  17. Are you allowed to take your dog along to these events if you are not actually competing?
  18. Thanks for that I am sure I will make it out to some! Maybe Easter weekend.
  19. Oooooh that sounds good. Might pop along. Thanks
  20. Hello Just wondering what shows or competitions there are in the vacinity. I am in Melbourne (eastern suburbs) and would love to come along and watch some.
  21. I agree with just using flat collar. I know some obedience clubs require you to have a flat collar. Thats odd that you didn't even touch on lead walking in puppy school. Yes I thought the standard was 2 weeks with vaccinations.
  22. We had a real problem with fleas. It was a rented house, and the infestation was mostly under the house, where the cat liked to hide out. We used bombs from the supermarket countless times until we realised they were coming from under the house. We reguarly give our pets flea treatments (frontline at the time I think) but it made no difference, if they went under the house they would come out covered in fleas. Anyway we ended up having to have the whole house and property (to fenceline) professionaly sprayed, twice actually (first time didnt get them all completely) We had ours done for around $250 and there was also a 6 month guarantee.
