Yay! Thanks guys will have to save up first but I really want to get back into it, although its been ages and I used to use an old Nikon and develop my photos myself at school

Just wondering what people think of this for someone starting out http://www.cameracentral.com.au/shop/produ...71420d08566ec77 I am not looking at making a career or anything just want to be able to take some nice pics and get into photography a bit more if I feel like it. Do you think this would be a good camera for a beginner?

My cat was bitten by either a tiger snake or a brown snake years ago, he was already in a bad way when we found him but managed to survive thanks to my awesome vet. He took him home with him and his wife got up every hour to turn him over as he was paralyzed for a while. Dunno if that helps at all....

Your photos are always so amazing. I would definately buy the book

well he's Amstaff not APBT but really I feel that those who are attacking the APBT are attacking Boodzey, he’s a BYBer so whats to stop someone from claiming him to be a APBT. Honestly though he's the smartest, sweetest, sookiest, gentle mumma’s boy I have ever met as is the same for any other Amstaff, Stafford or APBT I have even come across. The neighbours were having their lawns mowed the other day and the guy mentioned to them that Boodzey was scared of him they have also come into our backyard while we were at work (they are the landlords) and he just went about his business. I would much sooner trust Boodzey with little animals and children than I would Trixie. I just find it funny (and so sad) that people cross the road to avoid Boodz when its really Trixie thats more likely to be dog aggressive or nip at their heels.

Trix would choose the rabbit and next doors chickens any day, in fact she sometimes does ;) I have never had a dog that liked vege's or fruit apart from my Thomas who looooooved carrots, I'd always have a massive bag for my horse and he'd always run out grab one and run off with it Anyway just a pointless post coz I felt like talking

What I wrote about the dogs digestive system is correct. My dog ate some cat faeces the other week - she ended up in hospital for 3 days on a drip with bloody diarrhoea. A vegetarian diet does not just consist of carbohydrate - now you are showing your lack of nutritional knowledge Cat poo is Boodzey favour treat are you sure it wasnt just that your dog reacted badly because I know from previous yucky discussions that alot of others on here have cat poo connoisseur's
-
I just dont agree with it, I find it selfish as funny as that sounds, I also dont agree with parents forcing their children to eat vegetarian but thats another story :D

I am sure he's already figured it out

Her teeth are far beyond repair, they are clean and heathy but just completely worn down. I have always given her bones so thats not the problem its just as they are so worn down my vet has suggested the flat bones and as she is older and cant tolerate fat very well she needs something lean. I will try asking for lamb flanks and hopefully the butcher is a little more helpful this time
-
Thanks guys, I guess the problem is finding a good butcher that cares to listen. None have been very helpful yet. Shame that our local butcher closed down they were great and knew us and the dog.

After another visit to my vet about Trixies teeth he has told me that I should be giving her a bone once a week. He suggested a flat bone with minimal fat eg. A rib bone that has been trimmed. So I went to all my surrounding butchers and none of them have been very helpful, they pretty much say we have briskit bones and thats it. One actually decided to argue with me as to why I would need a flat bone with minimal fat! I told him I tend to trust my vet not the local butcher on these matters. Anywho does anyone have any suggestions on what sort of bone I should be asking for? I don’t mind paying exta to get it and does anyone know of a good butcher in Melbournes Eastern Suburbs that would be able to supply it?

My dog has terrible teeth, one of her front canine has actually snapped in half and the rest are all worn down to the gums. We have had to have a few taken out before and my vet has always done it himself, he seems to be very capable of doing all the work on her teeth. Not sure if all vets are the same though. It depends on what has caused the chip, in Trixies case its not much of a problem unless they start causing her pain and then we take the problem tooth out but she can still eat fine and I've been told that a dog can still eat normally without any teeth. But yeah see what your vet says, not sure about fillings I doubt its even worth it seeing as they can function properly without some teeth and its not like us where they'd be embarrassed about having a gap in their teeth
-
Just got back from the vet and she has a little bit of gingivitis so got some tablets for that, he couldnt tell if there was a particular tooth causing trouble so we'll see if the jaw chattering stops after the gingivitis is gone otherwise she'll need to go in and have an x-ray to determine which tooth/teeth are troubling her. Other than that though she has a clean bill of health Oh he also said that the anesthetic wouldnt be a problem because she has a good heart.

Add to that the excessive salivating that my boy does, accompanied with a far-away glazed look. Boys :D yes Boodzey once did it after stealing someones underwear....weird just plain weird....

 Exaclty what i thought too :D me too Good luck -
It can also be a good idea for older dogs to get blood tests before they go under anaesthetic (mostly to check that their kidneys and liver are functioning well still), and to put them on IV fluids throughout the procedure. Some vets do this as a matter of course, and some don't, so it pays to check. :D Ah yeah I remember doing that with the cat, my vet knows how important to me she is, I know he'll look after her we dont call him Uncle Dereck for nothing
-
I think you might be right, I'll watch her eat her dinner tonight and see if she looks tender. Boodzey does the chatter thing when he smells some things and his tongue also sort of curls up and flicks in and out, it makes him look like a dirty old man Yep Erny I think it'd definately be worth the extra money too
-
It defianately isnt an excited thing, or a scent thing. There is something wrong, I have had her over 12 years now and she has never once done it before, you know when you just know that its not right? Thanks though everyone for your responses, she might end up having to have some of those teeth out...which then makes me worry about that I am such a worry wart with her but shes my special girl Anesthetic become more dangerous as they get older doesn't it? Takes them longer to recover?
-
I am sure its not from her smelling anything. Thinking it could be a pain thing, she has terrible teeth I actually took her to the vey not long ago because the top of one of her front canines had snapped off! Most of her teeth are worn down to the gums but she hadnt been in any pain. My vet said some teeth would need to come out eventually but they werent causeing her trouble at the time so it could be that I guess. My poor girl she just loves rocks

I posted this in General but thought I'd pop it in here too. Just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas about this. Will be taking Trix to my vet tomorrow evening but thought I'd see if any DOLers might be able to shed some light. I first noticed on sunday that every now and then Trixie's jaw would start chattering. It seems to be when she's yawning or rolling her tongue etc and she does not seem to have any control over it. She seems fine in every other way and doesnt look to be in pain but still its quite worrying. Anyone had a similar thing happen or have any ideas what it might be?
