  1. In the photo posted by Ellen, the kid is much smaller than the dog it is standing on though. Palin's kid is bigger than the dog he is standing on which I think makes it seem worse as it looks like that kid could do some damage to the poor dog. Palin's kid is not actually standing on the dog, he just has one foot resting on it's back. I don't think the dog would appear so relaxed if that kid put his whole weight onto it. The situation could really end badly for both the dog and the kid. Palin needs a good hard slap for thinking that is ok.
  2. Thanks for the replies. Peeing inside is something I'm really worried about. They both christened the new carpet in our current house when we had it replaced even though they were both toilet trained. The new house will have brand new carpet in almost the entire upstairs area so I'm really concerned about that. We checked the fences before we signed the contract. Just a couple of spots to reinforce but otherwise good. I guess my biggest concern was just being in a new space, especially when we have to leave them alone. The neighbours are much closer, I hope they don't nuicence bark because it's all new and unfamiliar. There are a few things to be done after settlement, before we move in, so I might take them over there a few times to get them used to the sounds and smells.
  3. We are moving to a new house in a couple of weeks. It is our first move in about 20 years so it's quite daunting. Our dogs are almost 7 and 8 years old and have only ever lived in this house. I'm beginning to worry about how they will handle the move. Does anyone have any tips regarding moving house with dogs? Any ways to help them settle in quickly?
  4. The council is conducting a region wide check on dog registrations so I suspect they have employed extra staff with very little training who are obviously not dog savvy. You would think they'd at least cover the basics like don't let the bloody dog out. There is a huge local backlash at the council over this.
  5. The link contains video footage from the home owner. http://www.news-mail.com.au/news/council-apologises-dog-mistake/2421792/ BUNDABERG Regional Council has been forced to apologise after a video was posted on Facebook apparently showing council officers letting a dog out of its front yard and closing the gate on it. The video provoked a storm of criticism on social media. The officers were conducting a dog registration survey in the region. But council health and regulatory services spokesman Wayne Honor said what the footage did not show was two members of the inspection team chasing the dog and returning it to its yard. The council has apologised to the dog's owner for its escape.
  6. I read the other side of the story too but can't find it now either. The guy said that what really happened was that some other young children in the KFC restaurant were staring at the little girl and the grandmother got angry and demanded KFC staff throw those children out. Staff refused and when the grandmother got aggressived they asked her to leave.
  7. Have a fabulous time and Happy Birthday
  8. Sorry if this has been posted before. I had no idea dog's drank like this. http://blog.petflow.com/i-had-no-idea-they-did-this-ultra-slow-motion-shows-something-truly-fascinating-about-dogs/?utm_source=fbrescuesitedogdrink&utm_medium=Facebook&utm_campaign=dogdrink
  9. You should film it and add some Benny Hill music to the footage :D Hilarious

  11. This channel 7 interview with the boys' nan came up in my facebook newsfeed. http://au.news.yahoo.com/sa/video/watch/20639258/kids-save-dogs-from-flames/?cmp=fb I burst into tears when she said she had asked her grandson "are there any left in the shed?" and he replied "Nan, they're all dead". What a heartbreaking tragedy

  13. I paid $230 for a dental clean and scale on my cavalier on Monday. This price included general anesthetic, clean and scale, IV fluids and an antibiotic injection. No teeth needed to be removed but the vet quoted $25 for an easy front tooth up to $99 for one at the very back of the mouth.
  14. I've just started reading "Thunder Dog - The true story of a blind man, his guide dog and the triumph of trust at ground zero". It's the story of Michael Hingson and his guide dog Roselle who were on the 78th floor of World Trade Centre Tower 1 when the plane hit on Sept 11 2001.

  17. No, they weren't. Happy to say that the GSD has been found at Cedars Crossing and is home safe and well https://www.facebook.com/hitz939?fref=ts
  18. From what I read in the newspaper article and the post on facebook, the red cattle X and a GSD were stolen on Saturday afternoon. On Saturday evening the young couple rescued the red cattle X when they found it soaking wet by the side of the river with it's muzzle and legs taped so it is assumed it had been thrown in the river to drown. The owners have recognised their dog when it's picture was published in the paper (it was also shown on local TV news last night). The owners are still searching for the GSD. Link to facebook page (warning don't read the other posts on this page because it is infuriating and depressing to see how many animals are sold and given away with seemingly no regard ) https://www.facebook.com/groups/154488331334667/410416739075157/?notif_t=group_comment_reply
  19. I'm constantly shocked by the cruelty humans are capable of This incident happened in my area I've just read on a local pet page on facebook that on Saturday afternoon the dog in the article and a German Shepard were stolen. Obviously the owners have now found the red cattle X but are still looking for the GSD I shudder to think what fate that poor dog has suffered
  20. There are no episodes availble on yahoo 7 right now. I'm really upset I missed it, I knew the show had done a story on it but even if tonight was a repeat I've never seen it before.
  21. .Yes, I imagine this would be the case. The article is from the small local paper, just a piece to remind the community that the RSPCA is there if you want to bring a new pet into your home and that it's not a good idea to pick up free animals from the markets as they are not chipped and have no vetwork done on them. I guess it is free advertising for the RSPCA, our local newspaper runs similar stories from time to time for the RSPCA and also for a dog rescue in the area.
  22. So would I. Last year I saw an ad on our local facebook classified page where a guy wanted to swap his dog for a mobile phone, it wasn't a joke and was so sad The selling and swapping of puppies and kittens got so out of hand on that page that admin ended up banning all ads for dogs and cats thank God.
