How Often Can I Wash With Alloveen
Jaxx'sBuddy replied to Azzachazza's topic in General Dog Discussion
what calendula shampoo do you use? -
maybe a shop assistant is making a point...seems to me that it is showing really clearly that these dogs have no breed and its quite a brave thing to say IMO

i wouldnt give them cash because they could "read" into the amount, ie give too much and you have heaps of money or dont give enough and you are insulting and a cheapskate etc. what i would do is buy puppy toys that will keep it amused and also save the owner buying them and by default you are helping pay for the vet bill. what an awful situation but i agree RL the neighbours will be ok about this long term. we see the worst of people when they are stressed and even when the neighbours were stressed they were reasonable.

could it be a UTI? is she weeing a lot?
-
my daaughter dog has the same issue so can only be fed kibble. i have no idea why he throws up raw meat, any type makes him do this. i will be really interested in responses.

maybe because each bikkie is light and therefore takes more bikkies to make a kilo?

brisket bones are good, softer so they can eat them all they are a bit fatty though so i cut some of the fat off i get mine from woolies in the pet food section in a 1 or 2 kg bag otherwise a good buytcher should have them you can get roo bones from a pet food shop but they are very hard and the dogs cant really eat them all but they are good for chewing

Early Drive Building Question
Jaxx'sBuddy replied to corvus's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
in my really simple simple way of training i like to give my dog the best chance of success cause i like her and i want her to be happy so i train where she has the best chance of success, in a low distraction environment...she gets things right a lot more this way.....then when she has it down pat i try in a more challenging place. i also like to control the environment..the thought of training my dog in a park is horrifying to me...how can i stop wandering dogs interupting me and her and teaching her bad habits oh well each to their own -
Can Anything Be Done To Keep Cats Away?
Jaxx'sBuddy replied to ruthless's topic in General Dog Discussion
i have trapped and taken all roaming cats to the pound and i do not feel guity....what pushed me over the edge....having a nice day in the garden with the dog and she was really quiet so i went to investigate and she was eating cat shit...then on top of that the cat was sleeping on my sports car roof and leaving hair on it...they had to go!!!! -
the vac routine seems very strange. my vets go for the 4 weekly as you want. they are unley rd vet clinic on unley road i found them very good and i am really picky.
-
i never knew what this meant until now. Jaxx is my heart dog and she is a part of me...we understand each other it is hard to explain and i am so glad i have had this opportunity to know this amazing feeling

Bad Wheezing / Snorting Sound
Jaxx'sBuddy replied to mrs tornsocks's topic in General Dog Discussion
i do this with my boston who often reverse sneezes. i think it makes them camer and because they stop gulping the air in it stops the cycle -
my dog had skin issues and fungal infections. i changed her to a raw diet and this fixed it up. i saw results after 1 week (less scratching) and after 3 months she was good as new!

Cats In The Reception Area Of The Vets
Jaxx'sBuddy replied to ruthless's topic in General Dog Discussion
iam really allergic to cats and i dont like them at all. why should i be forced to deal with a cat in a waiting room? there was a post here a while ago about a resident dog of a hairdresser who bit a child and nearlyu everyone said the dog shouldnt have been there, well how is this different? if i have an asthma attack because of the cat coming over to me and jumping on me or sitting next to me who will be responsible. i get really grumpy about this because the resident cats have caused me grief before...and i have left a really good vet because of this and the fact that the staff wouldnt manage the cat whilst i was there -
at least you know what over weight is...the dog owners who have dogs this fat cant even see that they are overweight
-
Its not photoshopped. The owner was charged with animal cruelty. I saw the article posted in the news section awhile ago erm LOL yes, i linked to that article in my post above but no-one seems to have noticed LOL. I'm feeling invisible spottychick doe you think it is the same dog? they look different to me....the spots seem different. if there are 2 like this then its really sad.

this was not so good for my dog. she used to shut down when stressed and refuse food. this is purely positive training school where food is used all the time continually and no other reward (sometimes praise was used). when the dog didn't want the food the trainers seemed at a loss and had no other suggestions for me which didn't help me at all. so i think the training method needs to match the dog. funnily enough, my dog responded much better to training with praise and correction and she became very confident using this method so we are very pleased now.

i use the unley vet clinic on unley rd unley...i travel 30 minutes to go here and i think they are great. its closeish to Myrtle Bank.

i took my dog to a club to train and it was woeful. she could do all of stage 1 before we got there but we had to stay in that class for four weeks, same for stage 2. when we got to stage 3 the instructor was not very keen to use different methods to recall the dog so we didn't go any more because the dog was bored and restless. i did think it was good for distraction training but i am not so sure about that now.

Huski you'd be the "pet and basic OB" that yesmaam is talking about Obviously all that counts in the dog world is IPO. Never mind asking what level you might have got to and how far you might have come. Nor actually having any knowledge of what the TID course might involve not having done it. So we have someone who has no knowledge of the course stating that "we" know better without even identifying who we is and giving any proof that they have reached any level at all in training in drive. I actually thought at the beginning the OP asked whether anyone had "done" the course and could give their opinion. I also remember from previous posts not a few people who did attend clubs but were not getting the level of drive out of their dog (Shoemonster being one of them) but did the TID course with very good results to build drive and confidence. As someone stated in a previous post getting an already high drive dog to work in drive is not that hard, but getting drive out of a dog with high thresholds to drive who might previously have been labelled a failure is something we have proof of (through people posting their experiences) of people who have actually done K9's TID course. spot on!!! i really do not like people who are ignorant of the course on offer but are quite happy to tell us all how we don't need it!!! i think yessmaam may be really young. i for one know that after a few years under my belt i understood that I didn't know everything (sad but true!) and that i could learn from others. with dog training we need to look into everything and keep an open mind if we are going to do the best for our dogs.

however you didnt even ascertain that the OP wanted to do this (competition). as i said you have come across as extremely arrogant and a bit of a know it all. you made strong suggestions based on limited knowledge not a good start. gsdog2 said - I have a 12mth GSD female who literally goes nuts over "any" ball and I'd like to learn how to harness this obsession correctly as I'm only picking up bits and pieces from here and other sites on the net. I would like to trial her this year and have taken her to classes since she was 8 wks, but she's not half as keen to work there as she is when I take her to the park and use the ball when training. Wot are you talking about Jaxx's Buddy????? ............................................................ ... re: know it all, arrogant etc...... Fact is that training a working dog using its natural drives is not something new let me tell you. The old methods I have seen in OB clubs over the years are light years behind and I think Steve has tapped into a very lucrative market (pet and basic OB market) and good on him, why not. For competition focussed people, the same info and more (and by more I mean more info from people who have actually put this stuff to work at the top end of competition - a lot different) is available at your local IPO club for a fraction of the cost. so you say but why should i believe you when you know nothing of the course Steve runs? what bothers me about your posts is the lack of understanding of what people are trying to achieve and your arrogance so i am now paying no attention to your pronouncements. i love ignore
