  1. In your position Christina, so would I. I don't like early desexing either but I understand doing it if your breed is used by BYB's or puppy farmers :D .
  2. the medical expenses involved with whelping. To be honest, if you are selling 2 or more pups for $3000-3500 each and are not making money due to high veterinary expenses then you seriously, SERIOUSLY need to look at the quality and health of the dogs you're breeding from. $3000-3500 for a PET? Thats CRAZY! I cant believe people are ignorant enough to pay that! My next breed is likely to cost this amount and whilst I dont agree with the reasons why they are so expensive there isn't much I can do if that's the going price. I am not ignorant and I need to pay what the breeders/market has determined
  3. Why? Are you saying we don't matter as much? no its freedom and being a rebel..i could always change though :D
  4. i get really lazy when typing here. i have to be correct at work i let loose here and dont use caps or apostrophes. i do try to spell correctly though
  5. i was just about to write the same thing. maybe kumas behaviour needs to be reduced befre dupree leaves. i dont know but steve will...good choice KA
  6. you can check out most brands here http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/
  7. K9: I guess I wasnt trying to make it that obvious and keep teh focus on the problem at hand now but yes. These behaviours have been learned and reinforced, I would bet this wont be the last time they see them, with or without Dupree. They may not show up in normal every day life, but say they had a Niece of Nephew stay over that Kuma doesnt know, it wont take 2 weeks for the behaviour to develop again. The development period will become shorter and shorter. A baby being born into the house, a tradesman coming to do work, the dog having to be held to have medication such as ear drops applied, clipping his nails, fitting a collar etc. All of these things could instantly trigger what has been learned over the past 6 weeks... that was my concern, removing dupree wont fix this and it could surface again without much warning.
  8. the problem is diclofenac so any drug with this in it would have the same result and i found this: The TGA advises the lowest effective dose of diclofenac should only ever be used for the shortest possible duration.
  9. there was something on the radio the other day about the side effects and that there had been a study that links Voltaren and Nurofen to strokes here is the link http://www.abc.net.au/am/content/2010/s3010893.htm
  10. regardless of what the dog thinks of this person the behaviour is totally unacceptable and needs fixing. i suggest you get a behaviouralist in. the problem is what if he decides someone else shouldnt be there? if this is not fixed then this dog will be determining who can and cant come into the house. separate the dog and get a professional in to help
  11. if it is a rescue dog then a reputable rescue would have desexed the dog before it was rehomed
  12. txs Nekhbet, i wouldnt use that either. i feed raw but i like to have kibble on hand just in case.
  13. there was a spot on a current affair channel 7 tonight, well done and now the police are going to do an identikit picture of the guy
  14. Yes I think it's worth the extra - both for myself and my dog - we both eat 99% organic. Often the organic option isn't that much more expensive than the regular option - depends on where you source it from. There is an organic range of dry kibble (and also a vegan range) - I haven't tried them but for those who might be interested, here is the link http://www.biopetonline.com.au/index.html the price looks ok but i cant find an ingredient list unfortunately
  15. if a dog is rehomed to a good home then i think you need to do what is best for your family
  16. She's only started snoring today with the reverse sneezing. OH says "you always complain about my snoring when I have a blocked nose" :p oh i thought they both went together, does she sneeze all year or has it just started?
  17. if she snores a lot then it can also be an indicator that she has an elongated soft palate
  18. its sprring. maybe there is something in the air that is causing the sneezing? you could try anti histamines and see if it stops
  19. that site has a cheap sigma macro lens http://www.topbuy.com.au/tbcart/pc/Sigma-M...ranty-y6829.htm wonder if it works with a d40x..will need to investigate
  20. i have an open plan kitchen area and my solution is the dog is not allowed where the kitchen walls would be ...in other words she isnt allowed in the kitchen. the kitchen is tiled so she knows not to go on the tiled area and she doesnt. this also means i can cook without her getting under foot. even if i am not around she doesnt go into the kitchen
  21. yep and how many people dont pay that either. i remember people quickly turning off tv's when the vans came round
  22. here is the abc news article http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/09/09/3006722.htm
