  1. when my previous dog got old i brushed her teeth because for some reason no matter how many bones she had there was tartar on her teeth
  2. i have a boston terrier with upright ears and i dont like the tattoo so i told the vet not to do it. i also wrote it on the forms i filled out whenshe was being desexed
  3. i have seen them used for this as well but it was done by an experienced trainer. maybe call a trainer near you and ask if they do this training. i would still not rely on it 100% though
  4. PF this will end in tears and i agree with you. raining on a parade is what happens when people do not understand why dogs and puppies do what they do. wait until the child squeals.....the OP might find out it has a high prey drive as well... :D
  5. REALLY. the op is lucky she wasnt reported for a post that was offensive.
  6. And this is not the first time. When you're making your judgements of those responding Staffygirl, consider for a moment that you don't appear to have been reported for that charming post that it is very clear breach of forum rules. My guess is that most of us are feeling some empathy for your situation and concern for the welfare of your pup. Rather than see you booted off, I'd say most would like you to stay and get some help. No one has sworn at you or abused you. You cannot say the same. If you cannot control your temper sufficiently to post in accordance with the rules, log off, take a break and go pat your pup. She's the one most of us are trying to help. spot on PF. i feel sorry for a defenceless puppy when a person shows such little self control as the OP has.
  7. In the end OH lifted the towel for him and gave him a kiss! Bless his big boofy bead! ;) Or were you asking who set it up? nope i just think bub is smarter than you think because he got your oh to do the work of lifting the towel
  8. Let's get this bit correct, there is no such thing as a " British Staffie". The Amstaff and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier are not one in the same in terms of type or temperament and you have no clue about either breed and what they require. Well explain to me how they are different considering I'm so uneducated (in your opinion) You're being quite rude saying I have 'no idea' about either breed. When I say British, I mean the smaller Staffordshire Terrier and yes they did originate in BRITAIN hence being BRITISH no need to be rude. they are not called british staffies and have never been called that. if you have really had that many it is assumed you would have known that. people are trying to help you and you dont want the help. your loss.
  9. AussieLover she says she is an experienced owner having 4 previous dogs. i find that hard to believe given what she has written here ;)
  10. did you or oh lift off the towel? ;)
  11. You have no idea what you're talking about I'm afraid. Food aggression is hard wired into some dogs and learned by others. Your dog will NEVER regard your child as pack leader. He is a pack member. There's only ever one leader and it should be you. I cannot overemphasise how potentially dangerous a lesson you a teaching your son. This is literally making my blood run cold. For pity's sake, stop watching Cesar Millan and start listening to folk who want to keep your child safe. I've said my piece. If I read about some poor kid getting 'mauled' in Tasmania, I'll do the stats: Powerful dog - tick Male child - tick Child interfered with food - tick Parent distracted or absent - tick And we'll all nod and go 'yep, classic completely preventable bite scenario'. And because you have a bull breed, you'll just have made the breed one step closer to complete extinction. For pity's sake there was one of these in Darwin only last week. Go look at that poor little girl with a head full of stitches. That's what happens when it goes wrong. ;) I'm out of here. I can't bear this. i agree and i am following you out the door
  12. i never put my hand in my dogs food nor do i take it away from her but i can assure you that if she has anything in her mouth that i want she drops it immediately. she will also refuse food until i give her an ok. imo if a dog is hungry it makes them anxious if the food is removed and i bekieve it is cruel. my dog does not get fed until she has looked at me and i give a release word. in this way she understands i control the food and she controls when she gets it, ie the quicker she is calm the sooner she eats. I don't take her food away until she's almost finished her meal. I don't take it the second she gets it she's almost eaten all of it by the time I take it, then give it back. why? i really dont understand this. the dog is hungry and needs food and its like teasing her. i really just dont understand. i have never done this to my dogs and they know i am the pack leader and i have has small dogs (Boston Terriers) and large powerful breeds (GSD's) and they all behaved as well as each other.
  13. Oh dear. Why is this such a big problem for everyone? I'm there when she's being fed. If she sees him as a pack leader she won't snap at him when he goes near her food. Even if he's just walking past. And as I control the food I can take it away and give it back, if everyone did this with pups there wouldn't be food aggression because the dog would know they're going to get it back, but when their owner is ready to give it back. i saw a childs face after it had been ripped off when a dog had a bone and the child went to take it. i NEVER want to see that again. the child was 2 years old and known to the dog. dogs, children and food DO NOT MIX. eta you are expecting the dog and the child to behave exactly as you want them to in this situation and that is toitally unrealistic.

  15. lemons get smells off bicarbonate soda is good as well i have also used ferbreeze on my hands
  16. in the previous times to make clothing whites whiter they used a blueing agent. a blue or purple makes whites look whiter so i would imagine that is what is used in whitening shampoos
  17. I don't think anyone should be charging $3000+ for a handbag. But if there are buyers happy to pay that for the very one they want, who am I to stand in their way. That doesn't mean all the other handbag makers should lower their prices to make handbags affordable for everyone. Edit: I dont want to fight about puppy prices. The point of my thread was to find out how people view breeders and their prices. I am looking for the BEST homes for my pups and I know a lot of GREAT homes who just cant afford "average' pet prices. but you have also been quite dismissive and arrogant about puppy buyers who are prepared to pay $3000 for the breed of their choice.
  18. Would you say I had alot of hair? way to much Nah. I was joking. You're hair cut is grate.
  19. Here here !!! What about? This thread is inane and shouldn't be in General Dog Discussion. The original spelling error IS in General Dog Dicussion. Why? Are you saying we don't matter as much? no its freedom and being a rebel..i could always change though :D Then it would not be the same. We'd be looking for a Jaxx imposter. As an experiment I have been typing correctly today and have used all the correct grammar and punctuation. I am now sounding very formal. I think I may have blurred the line between my work persona and my private persona and I may have to go back to rebel typing ;)
  20. Damn this thread. I am now capitalising and putting in apostrophes, well just to see what it feels like on DOL.
