christina the OP has no idea about the sire of the pups and i think there is a huge health risk to the bitch not knowing this when the bitch is a small dog.
-
WOW, too many assumptions here, typical..... Don't you think you are taking things a little too far in assuming that the OP is wanting to breed as a matter of habit? How can you assume that the previous owner used to breed at all? How do you know that the bitch is unhealthy? she may be timid and yes....this can be passed onto the puppies but that is not always the case.....personally I would opt to desex the bitch if she is not too advanced in the pregnancy, different story if she was advanced....I could not bring myself to do that then. Owning an aggressive dog is a concern but where there is a will there is a way....and it is possible to ensure that the smaller dog is kept out of harm's way. The one thing that I find totally exasperating is when people here with a firm opinion take it upon themselves to completely turn things around and literally make wild assumptions just to win a point, let's stick to the facts, shall we???? unlike you who are so open minded and listens to reason

Yes espinay, I get the drift now but this does not apply to the OP; the OP knows who the dog belonged to, heck....what is the problem with the OP going to the vet to ensure that the dog is or is not microchipped, if it is not.....the next step would be to approach the former owner and get that person to sign the dog over so that there are no legal repercussions in the future...... Making sure that there is a witness that can verify that this has taken place is an added plus. If the knows the OP, the OP also knows her. who is to say they will not change their mind and want their dog and the puppies back? who is to say they will not ask her for money for the pups as without a document stating the dogs have been transferred to her, they are not legally hers and the original owner can still claim posession. The OP has put herself in a very difficult position legally. yes and some of us have advised the OP on the correct process so there will be no excuses if the sh*t hits the fan

Making sure that there is a witness that can verify that this has taken place is an added plus. did the dog belong to the woman or her partner, did it belong to a child? how does the OP know who really owned the dog. you are giving some really bad advice to the OP and anyone else who is reading this
-
as has been pointed out several times in this thread, there is a legal process that must be followed otherwise the law is being broken. dogs are chattels/goods so theft of goods/chattels is a crime additionally, there is a process for the management of lost and abandoned dogs. in every council area.
-
not sure SK but if i lost my dog i know where i would look for it and one place i wouldn't look is in peoples back yards. i would be concerned that the original owners get "dumpers regret" and report the OP for stealing the dog which technically they are doing. i also think we have a responsibility to give as accurate information as possible to people who are asking for advice.
-
so i am wondering what the consequences are if someone takes up bad legal advice given with such authority on a forum. i wonder if it is possible to sue when they are arrested for theft? hmm maybe better to be stick to the facts rather than make up stuff you aren't sure of
-
I would not agree that an unmicrochipped dog belongs to noone. Ideally every dog should be microchipped BUT if a dog is not microchipped but is a very much loved member of a family and one day through someone leaving the gates open, the dog wanders out and is lost and someone collects the dog....the dog does not belong to them UNLESS they go all out to find out who its previous owners are. If they do make all attempts to search for the dog's former owners and nothing transpires then they are entitlted to keep the dog, I wouldn't be insistant that they hand the dog to the pound in that case. Heard one too many horror stories of things gone wrong with pounds. and of they don't look in the correct places? if they don't try hard enough? there is a legal process in place for managing abandoned and lost dogs and i suggest people stop advising others to break the law as you have no idea of the consequences of your advice
-
this is totally wrong ...
-
most people wont search using "dogs" they are more specific in their searching. for instance, if i google "pure bred dogs" this web site www.dogzonline.com.au is #1
-
rusky have you asked any rescues whether this is what they will do...do they want those puppies dumped on them?
-
it is an abandoned dog. if the owners wanted you to have it they would have signed ownership over to you. all abandoned dogs need to go to the pound or council. how do you know that the owners wont come back later and say you stole the dog and you wont have any proof they let you have it?
-
then I suggest you stop posting what you don't know about and its not a good idea to encourage people to break the law in a public forum
-
Thats what I was told when my dog went missing so whoever has her now has "stolen" and if a vet does any type of surgery without my permission I can sue them ......so I have been told. thank you, there is something in the back of my mind that lost/abandoned dogs become the property of the council/pound and that is why it is also seen as stealing...apart from the process of a person trying to find their dog and expecting it to be at the pound i believe keeping a dog "found" like this and kept, is morally and legally wrong
-
i thought legally the dog had to be turned over to the council or the pound. can someone please confirm this or not? sik if i am right you could be charged with theft of the dog, regardless of the situation. if you want to be sure of the legalities get the council or pound involved. ets in any event keeping the puppies would not be an option for me, i would spey the bitch and make sure i wasn't contributing to the excess of dogs that are in pounds at this time of year. i do not believe that bitches should be allowed to whelp if they are "rescued"

...that explains alot then doesn't it. ;) enjoy your "controlled" thread I can understand you putting several of us on ignore - it allows you some control back into your life As you already know, I had you on the ignore list because you, Raz and Reverend Jo are always making a point of twisting and blowing everything I say out of all proportions, such insidious nastiness....you really do have problems with letting go I don't need to have some control back in my life It's all a matter of not listening to your incessant crap because that's all it is, so much harping on about bullshit. You are so blantantly obvious in that you are determined to make things impossible for me around here and all because I don't believe in killing my own meat. you are the one getting posts from yesterday to have goes at people today why? -

i am quite confused with moselle's posts because they are often contradictory. makes it hard for me to know what one is the truth and which ones to believe You know only too well that there is nothing whatsoever CONTRADICTORY about my posts! You are another poster with an axe to grind :rasberry : You really need to do some serious growing up instead of harbouring grudges simply because of a difference of opinion. ;) ;) :thanks: :thanks:  -

I am compelled to ask you something.....are you dense or still not ready to build a bridge and accept the fact that I do not appreciate hunters Just get over it RJ. OOh yea, I wrote that post BUT I have also added MULTIPLE times that that is the only complaint that my hubby makes so therefore I do consider myself blessed overall. AMEN, lol. Where did I mention hunting My post is about your first post and my confusion over how you made a thread about something then halfway through when you didn't get the replies you wanted you changed your story? It was a big enough deal to make a thread about, to help you a bit I've bolded the bits that stood out to everyone. You even said you thought he'd leave you over it, I'm not making this up, you said it no one else did ;) Why would you say that I didn't get the replies I wanted I started a thread to see what other people's OH's are like. I don't have a problem with the responses at all, in fact I quite enjoyed reading through the posts. I haven't changed my story at all.....I just responded to 3 posters who insisted that my hubby is a control freak, just because he does not want more than 2-3 dogs in the house does NOT make him a control freak. maybe not but he sure sounds inconsiderate about your feelings even to the point that you said he would leave you over the dogs....sounds very unstable relationship to me and you do make him sound like he is controlling you with the threat of leaving you. i am confused yet again -

so NO WAY would i tolerate being ALLOWED to do anything in my house or anywhere else TBH. ALLOWED well that happened when i was a child...as an adult i negotiate and compromise. i have an equal relationship with my partners. moselle i think you are kidding yourself about your relationship and if you are a psychologist you would know whats going on BTW what was your PhD in? -
yes but you give yourself the best chance of it going right if you set clear boundaries and you understand the pack and choose a dog that will fit in well.
-
the mix of a pack depends on lots of things not the least the humans role and the temperaments of the other dog/s
-
when i have had multiple dogs they have always been female ad i haven't had any issues and if i get another dog i would get another female
-
i dont want my pet defending my property or people because the dog could get seriously hurt. additionally, if they are allowed to become territorial it can cause bigger issues.
