  4. Yes but that makes too much sense, Steve. Is it really possible to make too much sense? If the way forward can be seen clearly, if it just shines with truth, then that is the direction we must take. please take this religious mumbo jumbo to another forum where it wont offend people you make no sense at all Jaxx's Buddy Posted on: 5th Dec 2010 - 9:10 am Quote: "this is a forum where people give their views. who are you to be disgusted with what anyone says. keep you personal insults to yourself and stop your attacks on forum members when they dont agree with you" end quote. Wise words Jaxx's Buddy. Your words. Don't you believe in what you say? I believe in what I say. Purebred Enough Said And Educated not Medicated. i did not personally insult you i do not want religious crap to be sprouted at me and quite honestly your posts make no sense...again this is not a personal insult it is a fact
  5. The BIGGEST problem is people making impulse and uninformed choices, choosing the wrong animal for their circumstances. Be it exercise, training, or grooming requirements you have to choose the dog that fits the bill for your abilities, and circumstances, choose a high maintenance breed when you would be suited better to an easy care low activity breed and you are inviting either heartache or simply dissatisfaction. All too hard, dog ends up in the pound or shelter. People also need to realise that not everyone including themselves will be a suitable and succesful dog owner so they may need to forget the cute puppy in the yard vision. Well here's 6 of them http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=211031 and this infuriates me i cannot believe any ethical rescue would allow bitches to whelp

  7. Go into the past rescue threads here on DOL and look under the ACT DAS threads and see how many dogs that are both healthy and nice that have been killed, including some that have been transferred from the RSPCA. It is a myth that only sick or nasty dogs are being put to sleep. That is all I will say on that topic on a public forum whether you want to discuss on a public forum or not you have started the discussion and i think it is only fair you provide stats to back up your assertions.
  8. all the time outside of work bar a very small amount is spent with my dog
  9. also very true. i have done this in other areas as well. if someone needs to bag something or someone else then i see this as a smoke screen to deflect from their lack of experience or skill. that may not be the truth but its how i react to bagging
  10. and who continue to learn over their lifetime and who change when we find better ways to manage dog behaviour eta its called continuous improvement and the best of the best do this regardless of their methodology they use what helps the dog and they leave their ego at the door
  11. my concern is claims that may not be correct do not help your cause. it is the number one site under certain conditions only
  12. You might find the book 'Redemption: The Myth of Pet Overpopulation and the No Kill Revolution in America' by Nathan Winograd really interesting. no book will ever convince me that all dogs should be saved
  13. i totally agree, why do people think all dogs require saving when rehoming some will put children at risk....
  14. Oh dear.. Moselle do you understand the difference between a "firm opinion" and the LAW? You are missing the point Xavier. Do you understand that there is no law that forces people who no longer want to keep a dog to hand the dog over to the pound? A person has all the rights in the world to rehome a dog to whomever they wish and if the OP has the paperwork as proof that the dog was rehomed with him/her....THE LAW HAS NOT BEEN BROKEN. Ummm, there is no paperwork of ownership, what are you talking about? The law has been broken because someone found something then decided to keep it, by law you are not able to do that. "The dog was abandoned at a friends neighbors house. They had moved and the dog was left there for 3 days without food or shelter. So I took her home..." AND NOW you....don't just cut and paste whatever suits you....why don't you quote the bits where I constantly emphasised that the OP should approach the former owner and ask for her to sign over ownership of the dog! I was asking about this bit because it seems a bit random and I have no idea what you are talking about in the context of this thread. I think I'll back away slowly now and careful not to make eye contact
  15. Why put her down? I never got the impression the dog was so timid it was suffering. There are plenty of timid dogs around that lead happy healthy lives. She may be timid because she was abandoned, is pregnant, and is in a new home with strangers. I disagree that this dog should be put down. As stated peviously, this dog does not belong to the OP so it would be against the law to PTS anyways. Danielle, no matter what we say it is all going to prove futile. To say that I am DISGUSTED with your comment Danois, is an understatement! What hide to suggest that the dog be put down! Obviously the dog is not that timid given that the OP was wanting to keep it BEFORE finding out that it was inbred, seems to me that that is the only reason that the OP has changed his mind. Danois...would you have suggested that the dog be destroyed if it were a purebred? I BET NOT !!! this is a forum where people give their views. who are you to be disgusted with what anyone says. keep you personal insults to yourself and stop your attacks on forum members when they dont agree with you
  16. really??? i didnt watch the vid but how dumb are the people Yeah, 'hugging' a dog so scared it pooped itself was the answer. He was just lucky he didn't get bitten. Then it says don't overlook these 'types' of dogs in shelters. wow, it never ceases to amaze me the stoopidity of how some people interact with scared dogs and who have no idea of how to read dogs behaviour. also, i think people need to be more pragmatic when it comes to rehoming dogs....not all dogs should be rehomed, some should be pts because they are ticking time bombs in the wrong situations. but more importantly we need to have trained dog behaviourists assess dogs before the public get anywhere near them sorry rant over.
  17. totally agree. if the owner had surrendered the dog much earlier maybe she could have been rehomed i still do not understand why people think the rspca has done the wrong thing the owner is the problem not the rspca
  18. really??? i didnt watch the vid but how dumb are the people
  19. dogs cannot have human feelings because ...they are not human
  20. i cannot see what the rspca has done that is wrong. not every dog can be or should be saved. sometimes pts is the most humane option
  21. Just want to say, this dog in question and her pups are inbred, not line bred. They are not the same thing and if you have been a breeder like you said then I think you'd be aware of the difference. good point
  22. christina the OP has no idea about the sire of the pups and i think there is a huge health risk to the bitch not knowing this when the bitch is a small dog. The OP has a fair idea it was one of the other small dogs owned by the people. The OP is going to do what they want, despite the post here. The OP is going to have to learn the hard way if things go wrong. I hope the OP will desex whatever dogs survive. At least then this cycle will not repeat itself. i hope you are right but i am not holding my breath
