Is a video really an important thing? Does it take a good video? I have the video capabilities on my camera and never use it It's not important if you dont want it. If I was you I'd and I had the funds, out of those 2 I'd go for the 50D Dont forget though, there's extra costs on top of that. It's body only, plus you need a CF card and a camera bag, and lenses. I've heard JB Hi fi sometimes do pretty good deals. Maybe if you go in armed with the info and prices of what you want you might be able to negotiate. It's like buying a car or house, you always end up spending more than you'd budgeted I hadn't thought of it like buying a car Yes, i can imagine I will spend more

40D? What brand of camera Tess? That pic is just divine ;) A gorgeous photo and something my little ol camera is never going to achieve! I just love Gorillas and could have stayed there all day....except for the crowds of people! We got there at the keeper talk and there were at least 100 plus people

What a terrible ordeal to have to go through You reacted so well! You must be proud of how you instinctively stayed clam and kept Miss T out of danger. Good thing the owner and dog have been found. next time someone else's ordeal might not have be so good ;)

The Gorillas which I just love had me the most frustrated. There were hordes of people and I was a long way from them These were behind glass and yes I have more

This is my attempt with my camera at the minute.

I know and every other person seemed to have a DSLR. I was literally going nutty by the end
-
I scrapbook and my camera is everything to me. I drive everyone a little nutty with my photography I have been having some problems with my current camera a Panasonic DMC-TZ1 . I will upload some pics of the zoo that we visited on the weekend. I found my camera a little limiting at times.

Will check it out...thanks!! I have decided I am sick of drooling over everyone else's fantastic pictures with there DSLR's!
-
I will start looking now to see whats out there. I think its just daunting thats all. So much on offer!
-
Yes, I have read some reviews on it and they had said that. DSLR definately! I just needed some good DOL advice on it!

The way the shop owner described it was it is the best thing and something I should definitely consider. They way he spoke I wouldn't regret it if I bought one. He has even offered me to come in and have a try of it when he gets more stock in ( he has sold quite a few ) . He has said I can take it out and have a play. The cynic in me is thinking that maybe he gets a better deal on them? If it is not a DSLR could it be that good in comparison ? Worth considering? Me thinks I need to do serious research on cameras now!! blacklabrador Thank you for the info ! I didn't think that you could change lenses either. Just had me more confused when he bought the HS10 into the conversation. I only want to spend about $1500 max. Hoping I will get something decent with that budget. Thanks !! You have given me a great explanation on the difference. It makes sense now I don't want to spend $500.00 and then regret it in a few months time. When I get my camera I will not be wanting to update for years. Am still curious if anyone has the HS10 and there thoughts...

I have often spoken about how many years I have wanted a DLSR. It has always confused me as to which is the best to get, so I often read peoples advice on here to help me get an idea of it all. I am still confused tho I have decided I really need to bite the bullet soon. With my health dramas life is too short to wait! We will never have the money ( hopefully OH will be on board when I spring it on him ) Was getting a pic developed today and I asked the owner about the cameras he had....Nikon and Canon. I wanted to know prices and what they came with etc. He then steers me away from them and onto the Fuji Finepix HS10 and now I am more confused than ever. He raved on and on about it and said how good it was. He has sold lots, they are a good price etc. Does anyone have one? I would love some feedback. The pics I normally take are kids, kids at sport, animals, family portraits....love macro. Help!! I am more confused than ever!! I think he said they are around $500. That got me too. How come they are so much cheaper than say a Nikon or a Canon? Is the Finepix a DSLR??

I also believe that dogs and every living breathing creature definitely have a soul. -
Vaccinating At 16 Wks ........ Do You Or Dont You?
rexiam replied to Jsk's topic in General Dog Discussion
Our vet used to recommend only doing 8 and 12 week vaccinations. At 6 months old Molly & Chuzzy both got Parvo. Both didn't make it Our vet than changed there protocol after speaking to drug company and they recommend the 16 week vaccination too. I will always do a 16 week vaccination now. -
i had to come in too You all like you had a fantastic time! Even better you were not paying for it!

Great news that you picked out your camera LC You are really making me think I need to bite the bullet and just get one! I have tortured myself for years over the cost Am 39 in October....maybe I need to give myself an early 40th present

I will have to PM you to see if its snowing again in the future. My kids would love to see it! OH has gone over today to get new tyres on the car so I hope that the weather is ok! The tyres are not good at all It has never snowed in Cowra since I have been here. My parents live out of town and its snowed in there hills. Just never quite enough to settle for long. :D

I too have not read the previous posts Monah Yes, it was a terrible time. It changed all of us. It was a huge learning experience for us all. LizT yes I agree with your post. The children are certainly not deserting there dog if they get another. They will never be able to replace there lost dog. They are filling a void They need to know that the door will always be open. dogluva I understand what you are saying. I just know that in my case I could never have gotten tough on my kids. Fleuri You will know when you are ready to get another dog. If in doubt don't. poodlefan is right You will get lots of great advice here when you need it on breed and breeders

Last year we lost 4 dogs in 6 months. Two in April and three days apart. Rex had cancer and Sam dissappeared off my parents farm while I was an hour away taking my kids to the movies. We were having some time out after the loss of Rex ( he was only two) and Sam & Rex would often get babysat at the farm if we were out. It was school holidays and the kids and I searched for Sam every day until school returned and I then kept up the search on my own. Sam had never wandered anywhere in her life. 3 weeks after she went missing I found her body. It was actually a relief as we had found her. The not knowing is the hardest, isn't it. It was the most distressing time not knowing what happened to he, if she was safe. A few days after she went missing there was a big thunderstorm...well kids and I just cried as Sam was terrified of thunder and always slept with Master 5. My OH was away for all this and everytime he would ring I would be crying. The kids didn't cope at all. Whenever we have a birthday etc the dogs names always go on the cards. In fact the kids still do. Our animals are our fur kids and the kids siblings My two children were 8 and 5 at the time of losing Rex and Sam and 6 months later we lost out 2 young dogs a week after they were desexed due to Parvo. We were at the vets daily and to watch them die was horrendous on us all. They also passed 3 days apart. How did I get the kids through? Well I have a friend who is a grienf counsellor. She did a thing called Sandtray which is wonderful . Although watching my daughter put every dead thing( ornaments) in her tray was disturbing and distressing. They did drawings. We made plaques from pavers that they painted and decorated with me to remember them. We talked when someone wanted to and we cried buckets too. A lady on DOL who doesn't know how much she meant to me sent us beautiful bookmarks made out of my signature, the kids have photos in frames that she also made. She even did Santa hats with pics of the dogs wearing them! I scrapbook too, so the kids have done lots of pages, written there favourite things. We have oohed and aahed over them. We have the dog tags of 2 of them hanging in the kitchen. They are still everywhere here. We do have new dogs. I literally stumbled on an ad ( I say stumble as I had never been on to that website before ) and saw a Retriever for free. The lady lived an hour away. He was fat , had a terrible coat and just fitted in. The whole time he was here he never sat near the owner. He either sat with me, OH or played with the kids. We knew then that he was the dog for us. His old owner told him on leaving that his life was just about to start! I think Bear needed us as much as we needed him The kids always wanted a smaller sized dog as well. We ended up with a Cocker Spaniel pup. He is just lovely and we are all smitten with him too. he was a suprise. The kids had no clue he was coming and they just spoilt him to bits!!! I can't remember reading from your first post...do you have another dog? It has been a long road and now 15 months on my kids still have days where they say that they miss there 4 dogs and wish them back. I let them go as its a normal grieving process. I still miss them too, so how can I expect the kids not to?

What beautiful pics ;) Where were they taken at? We live in Cowra.....makes me want to drive over with the kids now to have a play in it

Cocker Spaniel Vs Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
rexiam replied to allie181's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have a Cocker who is a very low energy dog. Has been one since the day we got him. Dream on a lead and is truly a pleasure. He is our first "small" dog as we have always had retrievers and Labs. My daughter wanted a Cavvy, but when we looked into them we liked the Cocker for us. I have found if we brush him regulary his coat stays in better shape. We have not clipped him as we haven't found the need to. He is great to bath and blow dry and is really a sook...but a really good watch dog he is more on the ball than the Retriever we have. I am so smitten with the breed I would really love another The OH won't co operate tho I think whichever breed you decide to go for try to go for one that is not high energy. Goodluck !
