  1. About eight months ago, I took out pet insurance for my three dogs through Petplan, but have had continuous problems with their administration and the lack of communication from this business. They had firstly put one of my dogs on the wrong coverage. After several emails, it was eventually corrected. I then asked for a new certificate to be sent, and well months later, I hadnt received anything in the mail, so I made a phone call and the response was that they didn't know why it didn't get to me. Instead of receiving an original, I got an email with an attachment. About 2 months ago, I contacted them to advise that I had leased a dog, and did not require cover for this particular dog now. I am paying monthly, and you guessed it, the direct debit is still coming out of my account. I emailed them to advise of this and to let me know when the direct debit has been cancelled. Still waiting for confirmation that this has been done. It will be intersting if in the next week whether I have another payment taken from my account. There has been no refund of these payments to date. Has anyone had problems with Petplan. Is there a better option for me?
  2. Can I see your pic please!!! lol
  3. This is a little off the original thread, BUT, we should be displaying the owner's pic and not the animals. In this way, we all would know if we every crossed the path of some of the DOLs, we would receive no empathy just critism and judgment. If we could see the faces to some of these comments I believe these thread would be more mellow and acceptable. We could only hope so.
  4. I have PetPlan insurance for my three dogs, but the extraction was an exclusion in the policy. Sometimes you do wonder why!!!! Maybe because as has been said, it is a common complaint.
  5. Sammy is 9 months old. Cause the tooth was high in the gum, I didn't notice it straight away and it was causing her no pain or discomfort. The vet was hoping that it would eventually loosen and be pushed out, but that didn't happen so we had to go for the more drastic method of extracting it. It is the tooth on the front side of the canine. The vet said that he doesn't normally see this happen with this particular tooth, normally it is the canine. (Now that I have the correct name for the tooth lol). She is home now resting. The gum looks a bit swollen but will heal well. She has been given a long acting antibiotic and pain killers for a few days, so she should be fine, its just my wallet that is much lighter.
  6. We have just moved to Kilcoy and was worried about ticks in this area. I was told by the vet today, that with Proban there is no guarantee with the product and that using a tick collar would work more effectively. I also use Advocate, but he said that as another precaution, try using the tick collar with Frontline or similar. Food for thought!!!!
  7. Sammy is at the vet at the moment having a baby tooth extracted under anesethic. Is this a problem that other dog owners have experienced?
  8. Many years ago, I spent lots in vet bills taking my golden to the vet each time she got hot spots. I was told about Betadine, and if you get it onto the wound promptly, I found that there was never a need for antibiotics.
  9. I actually found Frontline an irritation to one of my cockers. Everytime I used it, she would scratch for about a week or two after. It took many months before she got used to the product and no more scratching.
  10. Sometimes you can be really careful, but puppies will eat and chew anything. I had my 6 month old to the vet today, cause the kids behind us, hit a rubber ball over our fence. Needless to say, the puppy chewed it up and digested some of it, causing a bowel upset and now on tablets for the next few days to correct it. So easy, but very serious.
  11. I was told by my vet that the nasal spray for kennel cough treats more strands than the injection. Is that just the vet pushing the product?
