Yes well certainly price is a factor, as I've told my OH that I would want to spend around the $2,000 mark and that's why i thought the BArf shop would be a good one, but I'm glad to hear peoples opinions as even for us $2K is a lot of money to spend and I want to make sure I do it right, cause I would never hear the end of it from the OH if I bought a dodgy one. I'm not a groomer, I just have to dogs one I show so its not like I have heaps of dogs to bath

In the next couple of weeks, will be in a position for my own hydrobath anyway have been looking at the Perfect Paws and The Barf shop. I'm more thinking on the lines of the Super Twin Tank Deluxe hydrobath from the Barf Shop, only because I can go and look before I buy etc and that they are local etc. Just wondering if anyone has one of these from the Barf Shop and what they think

Do you mind if I ask what you are using now, as I really loved the old stuff as well

I realise there is the new Missing Link on the market. Is it the same as before, what product was in it that didn't allow it to be imported into Australia. Just wondering about the people who are using the new Missing Link if its as good as before

Well that's what I thought as well, but I don't want to take chances. I've emailed my breeder as asked her advice. I'm sure I fed her bones when she had her last litter and had no problems. This is her second litter, but it was like 3 years ago, terrible but I can't remember what I fed her then

Is it safe to still give pregnant bitches bones, I thought so, but a friend of mine doesn't agree. My bitch is pregnant and I have been giving her the odd bone and thought this was ok, as I feed them the barf diet

Clippiing A 7 Year Old Retreiver
Russkie30 replied to doggywoof's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Hi if you go onto our website http://www.grcq.org.au/index.asp?ID=15 this will give you some tips on grooming. Making sure you clip the feet especially underneath because if they become to overgrown then it can hurt the dogs feet Personally I wouldn't clip, but I have known a few friends clip there goldies, especially the older ones when in summer it gets too hot for them. I haven't seen any problems with the coat growing back, but I could be wrong as I've never done this. -
I've used alpha keri oil for the past 20 years on my goldies and found it very effective, if you get them early there is no need to cut the coat. Personally sometimes i think diet is major factor as well the heat. I've also found if you rinse them in a solution of alpha keri oil and water after bathing them can help prevent them. But everyone has there own way of combating this problem

Barf Diet And New Puppie Owners
Russkie30 replied to Russkie30's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thanks Jules, I have a lady that donated some to our club that is a supplier of nutro and that's why I thought I would go that option, as she is just up the north of brisbane. I have friends that feed Advance as well, but not quite sure on that one either, but absolutely want to make it as easy as possible for the new puppy owners. -
Barf Diet And New Puppie Owners
Russkie30 replied to Russkie30's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thanks everyone for their tips. I think I will go with the barf/ and a commercial dry food. Give them the option and have everything explained in their puppy book, so they have that option if they wish to go down that track Do you think the Nutro brand of dog food would be a good one to start them off. I have heard a lot of good reports, but since i don't feed my dogs on any dry food I'm not quite sure what is the best option to go. -
Barf Diet And New Puppie Owners
Russkie30 replied to Russkie30's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
That is what i am worried about that they will get confused, so maybe I should give them an option of a good dry food. My dogs excel on the barf diet, i have no problems with coat or anything. But yeh I just want it as easy and simple as possible for the puppy buyers. -
Hi all My dogs are fed the Barf Diet and my girl is well, we are hoping to have pups early January. I am hoping the new puppie owners will continue to feed the pups Barf, I just don't want it to be daunting for the new puppie owners, would anyone have any suggestions or feeding regimes that I could put in there puppy books to make it more easier and a lot less confusing for them. Hope this make sense.

Alpha Keri Oil, I've used this for 20 years. It lifts the scab off the skins and you don't need to cut the hair. Also I found years and years ago when my goldies use to get them a lot I would make up a bucket of water with it in and rinse them after I had bathed them. My friend puts the alpha keri oil in her hydrobath and finishes them off with that. You just get it from the chemist.

Also the good old vinegar it keeps it clean and gets rids of smells

Yep i've used to and I think its a good product -
I know of few people who are using the human Missing Link on there dogs and finding it fantastic.
-
I have been using alpha keri oil available from the chemist for 20 years know. Just put a little on the hot spot and in a few days the scab comes away from the skin and there is no need to cut hair or anything. I know everyone has a remedy as well, but this is what i have found that has worked for me

Constant Barking - Neighbours Complain - Help!
Russkie30 replied to KatLek's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
HI Katlek i know what you are going through. I received a letter from council the other week, and have been putting topics on here for advice as well. My neighbours beside me are excellent, and told me my 4 year goldie had started to bark again we had a similar problem when she was about 12 moonths old. About 6 weeks ago she started again. I have another 12mth old goldie which i thought would keep her company. I felt so bad i was going to put the letter in the neighbours to apologize and bare me with me we are tring to sort the problem out, just to let them know that i'm not ignorant to the problem, i think it's someone at the back of us. I've tried the citronella collar, but mine is not working. At the moment she is inside, i am lucky to go home at lunch most days. She was starting as soon as i left as well, as well as the hot air balloons set her off. I take her for walks, odd dog show and dog parks so its not like she is kept in a yard all day. Just being a spoilt i think. I'm just getting prices from k9 collars, not sure if i want to go down the track, but i'm like you don't know what to do. Keep you chin up, I tell you sometimes they get us into so much trouble, don't they. The problem is that we just love them so much. -
I think a couple of ideas would be don't overfeed him and don't over exercise him. I'm sure a supplement of some sort would be beneficial. Good luck with him.
-
Well those photos are beautiful, she has go the most shinest coat, in fantastic condition I have to admit I get a bit overloaded with barf and quantities etc, so I just try to do my best. I think what gets me is the quantities are I feeding them enought etc. I know my girl definetly needs to loose like 3kg but my 9 month old boy is in fanstastic condition and I am always getting comments on how nice he looks
