  1. and then charge you the extra few dollars for Alfaxan over Thio. That all seems soooo expensive an extra $440 for pre GA bloods and fluids. How old is your dog? I had the pre-anaesthetic blood profile done on our girl and it was $55 - are you sure the $240 wasn't for bloods and the op??
  2. We've also just adopted a 14 month old who has lived in kennels. We bought two of the wire panel compost bins from Bunnings and made a barrier to section off the family room which we cleared out apart from dog beds and crate. There's no way I'd let a young dog near cables as they seem to be very attracted to them!
  3. HI, I took my Lakeland to puppy class and then into Level 1 at Northern Suburbs. The instructor who took puppy class was a little gruff but I was very happy with the way she ran the class. The classes are unfortunately quite large at times but in general I think it's a good club. Unfortunately my girl isn't particularly food motivated when there's other dogs around and the instructors didn't seem to have any suggestions other than 'you need to use bacon/sausage/liver etc' (believe me I've tried them all!). Why don't you ask them if you can go to observe one morning then you can see how you feel about it?
  4. Two weeks ago we adopted a 12month old male from Izzy's breeder. He has been a show dog so spent most of his time in kennels and therefore not toilet trained. I have been treating him like a pup with regards to toileting - taking him outside frequently, after meals and sleeping etc. We have also taught him to use the doggy door and he is quite happy to go through it now when I tell him to and will sometimes follow Izzy through it. The doggie door is in the laundry up a short passage so not immediately visible from the living areas. How can I teach him to associate needing to toilet with using it? When I take him out for toileting I take him through the dog door but he hasn't yet learned to go out himself. Am I expecting too much after 2 weeks? He is crated at night and at times through the day when I can't watch him. He is being sterilised next week.
  5. Looks like it's Swan Vet then....... Rosie, I keep meaning to take some photos but they never sit still for very long - I'll try harder!
  6. I'm looking for recommendations for a vet in Midland/Mundaring area for a male sterilisation. I know Swan Vet has a good name but it always looks so busy and chaotic. I know there's a few people in this thread live in the area so wondering who you use?
  7. I tried every food or treat going and nothing worked so decided to use a ball instead. Now I can take her to an area with other dogs and she would rather play ball with me than play with them.
  8. Thanks for that - theyr'e prices are slightly less than the one in Leederville (but hardly by much) and since I've heard such good rep about the leederville one, I think I might just go there. What sort of problems did you get into Drumbeat for you to need to have after hours care?? What dog do you have? I currently have a 3 year old Lakeland Terrier and am bringing home a 1 year old Lakeland tomorrow to see how he goes. We previously had a 14 yr old Lakeland who had a bulging disc which on a few occasions worsened and caused him problems. Sadly the last time he passed away in the vet clinic. We took our current dog to Vetwest at Yokine and were lucky enough to see a vet who was familiar with Lakelands from working in the UK. I would have recommended him to you but I believe he moved to the Carine practice.
  9. I used to use Dogswamp Vet and while I found the staff very nice their consulting hours aren't as long as some practices and of course our old boy always needed vet care when they were closed!
  10. It's not very clear at first glance but the crates are actually $19.95 not $49.90
  11. You enabler you! Couldn't resist at that price
  12. A vet suggested my girl might have a bit of leaking as she's been licking her vulva a lot more. However, I can't smell any urine and there's never any damp patches. Just wanted to ask the people who've posted here if their dog had obvious symptoms, Izzy is almost 3 and was sterilized at 6 months.
  13. Not 100% on the start time but I believe both days all breeds will be showing at once - 7 rings set up. Snap Ozjen Thanks, might just go for a looksee and talk to some breeders.
  14. Can anyone tell me which classes are showing on which days of the championship show this weekend please. And is the start time 6.30 both days?
  15. I've been looking for a good place in Midland, will go and check them out. Went to a place in Mundaring a couple of times which cost a fortune.
  16. Thanks for the reminder, I caught the second half. Which dog was your friends?
  17. Oh damn, I could have brought him/her last week - what a shame
  18. Umm, Danzalin that I mentioned are South, they're in Canning Vale. I would love to have family look after my dog while I'm on holiday but as they're all overseas it's not an option.
  19. Thanks, I might give Amherst a call although I know they're quite small so might be booked up.
  20. Well that was a waste of time asking here.
  21. Does anyone here know anything about Paragon Kennels in Upper Swan? I was planning on using Danzalin as I've heard good things about them but Paragon is a bit closer so wondering if they have a good reputation. Planning holidays was much less stressful before I had pets!
  22. Did you take out any extended warranty or just go with Digital Rev's 12 month local one?
  23. According to DWI: Kiss X4 has only the option for NTSC whereas the 550D has the option for both PAL and NTSC.
