  1. From memory, his methods are pretty much exactly the same as the methods in The Perfect Puppy - he's just a little more British, while Gwen is a little more new age American  .

    Luke,

Isn't it the other way round - Dunbar is American and Gwen English?

  2. eh a full set by for months? stay away from this dog trainer please obviously has NO idea about dogs

I have done so, decided to go with someone else. We start training tomorrow afternoon.

I need to email Midniara so I will ask her while I'm at it :)

    Hi June,

Can I be nosy and ask where you are going for training?

  3. Frustration behaviours were quite a challenge for me when teaching my Foxie to stay. Do you anticipate that with your pup?

Would that be for me or my dog  ?

Seriously, thanks to everyone for the advice and I have started working on extending her sits. She is a bit of a rascal as she is quite focused at home but gets very distracted when we go to class, I'm not sure the instructors believe me when I say "she does this very well at home"!!

  4. Our pup Izzy was desexed yesterday. She was very sleepy in the evening and not interested in food but is very chirpy today. I am trying to keep her quiet today but she looks positively bored, I can't believe how well she's moving around! Her wound has subcutaneous sutures so nothing to be removed, just a wound check in 7 - 10 days.

  5. Drumbeat, do they do off lead socialisation or is it just obedience training for puppies? If they do off lead socialise do they have a secure area to do it of is it just in the middle of the park?

As Chicko mentioned they use separate fenced pens for the puppy class. Yes, the class includes off lead socialisation whre the class is divided into two groups so there are not too many puppies offlead at the same time.

They have quite a good website if you need more info.

  6. What sort of puppy do you have drumbeat, i will have to look out for you on sunday =)

We have a Lakeland Terrier so you can't miss us, she will be bouncing around in a state of excitement - I'll look forward to saying hello.

  7. Our puppy is currently attending puppy school at Northern Suburbs and we've been very happy with it - we even entered the puppy obediance trial last week! Having had a dog who had 'dog aggression' issues we were very keen to start socialisation early with this puppy.

  8. I would really like some suggestions for brushes and stripping tools for my Lakeland Terrier. I am hoping to hand strip her and have a copy of the excellent DVD by Jane Harvey. I have stripped out her puppy coat and need to find a good brush - should I be using a specific type? Also, I was going to purchase a Mars stripping knife but not sure which one to start with.

I will probably get my breeder to help me with her face at first but would like to start by having some decent tools.

    All advice appreciated.
