She's looks amazing Rach.. its really noticable how much chubbier she's looking, but the biggest change is that she's trying to move.. what an amazing transformation in a short space of time. I really wish I had room for one more. Keep up the wonderful work. -
LOL, Georgia loves cucumber too. Thankfully she can't jump high enough to get it off the bench.
-
Wow, so many dogs are good with their fruit and vege.. Georgia also likes cucumber, but is not keen on tomato. Raw carrot is her absolute favourite. I was just surprised that she liked something sweet, but its obviously not that unusual.

Last night we discovered that Georgia LOVES watermelon.. my daughter was grabbing a slice out of the fridge and the naughty dog bit the top off, right out her hand.. LOL So after that it was all hers. She acted like it was the best thing ever. I thought it was a strange thing for a dog to like, but I've since discovered other people have dogs who also eat it.. maybe she's not as weird as we thought.

Wow, what a fantastic update. I don't think she'd be able to do that if her back was broken. I think if you can get her through the next week, you will see more amazing things happen. Thank you for not giving up, I know a lot of people would have thought PTS was the kindest option when you found her, but thanks to you she has a chance. I just want to hug you Rach.. I'm a real cat lover, having three of my own. I know cats sometimes get a bad rap on this site, but the kindness you've shown her warms my heart. When she meows at you, she's saying the same in her own way, thank you.. even if she doesn't make it you can stand proud. -

She's so beautiful.. I loved seeing her do happy feet.. that means she's happy and content.. it just about breaks my heart that this precious little one was left to die alone. She got lucky an angel came to her aide. Thank you so much Rachel, I'm sending lots of positive energy Cookie's way. -
I never thought a sheltie would need one either, but hey I don't mind. She has very little coat at the moment and I like to keep her warm because of her joint issues, its been damn cold in Vic already.
-
She knitted me this really ummmmmm "funky" sweater... Thanks Mum  love Georgia xo

I'm so sorry to hear you lost a little bubba Hesa, thats really sad.
-
My sheltie is 2 and is on 3 monthly catrophen injections after knee surgery too. It does seem to help her, the vet has told me she wants to do it to prevent her from getting arthritis, or at least delaying it. She's been on it for about a year now. We haven't had any bad side effects though.
-
Most of the time her coat is not hard to maintain, its just a bit of a nightmare at the moment. If I give her a 5 mins brush under her legs, back of legs and behind her ears each day she doesn't really get knots. However, if it gets left for a few weeks, I do live to regret it. It will matt in certain parts. Thats just part and parcel with any long-haired pet. I'd rather deal with some extra moulting than having an entire dog to be honest.
-
On the weekend I'm going to give her another bath and blow dry, that blows a lot of the dead coat out too.. fingers crossed that might get the last of it out.
-
And vacuuming.. my house looks like a grey snowstorm has blown through!
-
Actually when you think about it us victorians have had non-existant summers for the last 2 years.. that obviously plays a big part.
-
Oh I know where you're coming from wuffles.. we've had it going for a couple of months here too.. it may be the weather, but the cats stick to the same moulting routine.. who knows maybe the doggy is just a rule breaker....
-
She does have a rather big coat too.. this pic was taken on her first birthday, which was boxing day 2011.
-
She was desexed as a pup by the breeder, so never had a season. She is an inside dog, and I'm not one for turning on the heating too much. Her coat did the same thing last year and the sheltie people can't shed light on it either. I just think its strange.
-
I have a 2yo sheltie and she's moulting like no tomorrow at the moment. I'm still brushing her daily and getting tonnes of hair off her. My question is the days are getting shorter, its definitely getting cooler at night here in Vic, yet she's losing all her coat in the lead up to winter? My cats moult like clockwork, as soon as the days start getting warmer they drop their coats.. and now the weathers getting cooler they are starting to fluff up again. Is there any reason why the dog would lose all her coat now, when she needs it the most? I find it strange and last year was the same.

Wow that month went quick Hesa, they're already starting to look like real dogs... gee they're cute.

Barking And Anti-bark Collars

Thanks for the words of encouragement Erny.. I plan to keep up with it... how could you stop when you can see what can be achieved in a few short weeks. -
Barking And Anti-bark Collars
Michelleva replied to Michelleva's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I tried to PM you Erny, but it wouldn't send. So this is what I wanted to tell you. I just wanted to say hi and huge thank you for taking the time to talk to me about my barking sheltie. The advice you gave me regarding adding the word enough has worked like a charm. She now knows that the word enough means.. well enough carry on and MOST times she will stop dead in her tracks. Just a few minutes ago I heard her whining at the back door. At first I thought she needed to go to the toilet but when I investigated I realised the neighbour was outside. Normally that would be enough to set her off, but this time her reaction was very subdued and when I said enough, she simply walked away. I'm still giving her treats, but less often. I think I'd like to start clicker training her, but I don't really know the first thing about it. Do you know of any good websites, or books that could help me learn more about it? Thanks again, I'm seeing a really big difference in Georgia in such a short time and I'm absolutely thrilled. As you said, consistency is the key and that is proving to be 100% correct. -
Another Dog Charged Us On Our Walk.. Getting Sick Of It!
Michelleva replied to Michelleva's topic in General Dog Discussion
I think you're talking about me here too, I often do the same thing. Then kick myself afterwards. Mind you, I think it would have been difficult to have a conversation with this guy considering his dog just wanted to get to mine. But I have a feeling if the dog were given the chance to approach nicely and say hello, he may have been ok. I just think the dog was overly excited by my dog. We have been for more walks since this incident and all has been ok. So my confidence is coming back.
