The breed standard for the mastiff says 80 kilos, I hope they are not trying ot breed them big, like some did to the rottweiler, imagine the extra stress on jionts that are just not meant to have it and the extra health problems... Not sure where you getting the 80kg from, is that what happened to your Tyson dog?... Bloody slow internet... Anyways... Sorry about the novel but TLC you asked so I answered... Yeah Cookie is slightly darker then Bruno, we were going to show Bruno but just don't have the time really, and yes he is desexed there are shows that you can show desexed dogs at. Fully grown is usually 1.5yrs - 2yrs. Bruno will pretty much stay the height he is, just needs to level out, mastiffs are alot heigher in the back and eventually even out. Bruno will just need to fill out now, he has a lot of extra skin that he needs to grow into, his skull also will become alot larger. Well when we were first looking at getting a dog, we wanted a large breed. Then I saw the ad on TV (the one with the dog and its arm out the window, looked like it was chewing gum) and knew that was the breed, also becasue we wanted a dog that would also guard the house. We spoke to lots of breeders and eventually found one in Melb (well sire anyway), it took us about 2yrs before the pups were born as they weren't looking at breeding when we first met, but we love their temperament of these dogs so much we were willing to wait. Also went to alot of Mastiff only shows and met different other breeders and dogs also. Yeah larger breeds can be scary, but because Mastiffs are companion dogs they seem to have really good temperaments and try to be everyone's friend (that's after you are introduced to them). So don't try and jump my fence because you would probably get eaten...

Hopefully this works... Thought I would share this with you all, here is Bruno cousin "Cookie" don't they look very much alike... We met cookie when we first looked into getting a mastiff, he was 9mths and that would've been maybe 1.5 - 2yrs ago...

Not sure what you mean about out of breed standard? Think you maybe reading about the wrong breed...

yeah Bruno has quite a large blood line, his mum was 90 his dad 130 and rest of his family in same range... 80kg is usually min weight for a male... Mastiffs are as they appear, a giant heavy breed. They can range between 80kg to 130kg for a fully mature dog. And then 60kg to 100kg for a fully mature bitch.
