  1. I think you are right, can we please let this tread go. HE has mentioned the live in trainer in the thread, he has mentioned the pawman, he has mentioned TeamWork (who are Alex and Maureen who also operate at Carseldine, the other grounds are only 15 - 20 minutes drvie away, he Has mentioned Dogtec, and as far as I know their is only 1 dogtech person in Brisbane. I have been trying to avoid promoting an individual trainer, I know all of these people because I have been involved with their training over the last 23 years with my dogs. Along with Metro and also Val Bonnies and Matin at K9, plus one other that I prefer not to mention because I have nothing positive to say about them (which is a personnel opinion only) We have all suggested he use K9 Force as his next step, we are certainly not ridiculing him or puting Rottielover01 down, quite the opposite. The bottom line is that I am just against knocking a club or an individual based on one expereince. thats it. Rottielover01 has done a tremendous job and is determined to get the problem sorted.
  2. THats right Rottielover01, we have been saying tha same thing over and over to you. Congratulations and keep up the good effort , you have a very lucky dog to have someone that is so trying! not everyone is as commitred to our dogs future as we are. I also commend the 4 trainers you have tried, they have a great reputation here in Brisbane with huge succes rates, Bar possibly one, (but then I am not into live in training for my dog either). Unfortunately they just did't work out for you and your dog. that doesn't make them bad trainers and that doesn't particulaarly mean you are a bad student either, all four of them just didn't happen to be suitable for you and your boy. Again, good for you for making the effort that most of us like you, wouldn't even think twice about making for a dog / Mate that they love.
  3. I will try to make this my last post on this subject... I know what Rottielover 01 is going through but to a lesser extent. As posted previously I have a rottie that was showing serious signs of aggression, I went to clubs, tried to desensitise him, it helped but didn't fix it, I consulted Val Bonny, I didn't like her technique so I didn't pursue that line of training (but this doesn't give me the right to say she was a waste of time, I simply didn't agree with her ways for me and my boy) , I then Used one of the trainers that Rottielover01 used and after a bit of work I now have a dog that is stable, I can walk off lead through a crowd and past other dogs without the fear of him lunging or biting. I will admit he is still not perfect, but that is down to me and how much effort I put into it and how much I followed what I was taught to do. I can not talk highly enough of this individual and his commitment to getting my boy to an acceptable level that I can now walk him and be proud of him without the fear of what he might do. Although this did not work for one individual it did work for me, so just becasue 1 person found this trainer to not suit them it does not neceassarily make that trainer a bad trainer.
  4. no. You didn't miss anything just using the same sort of logic in return. I just keep coming back to the fact that I don't like negativity, just looking for a something we can all learn from without berating any particular individual. Rottielover 01 has done a sterling jod indeed, he has tried four trainers in Brisbane, none could fix his problem, or help him, therefore no other trainers in Brisbane are any good. He now needs to go to Sydney, Steve has a great reputation so he will get the result that is needed and has been exceptionally generous with his offers of help. Lets put this one to an end, fix the dog and keep everyone happy..... Please
  5. Cool mate, go for your life. As you say, there are Mechanics and there are Mechanics, there are also personalities and there are personalities, we don't like everyone we meet, therefore not all trainers are for all people, that doesn't make them a bad trainer thats all. therefore we shouldn't leave an assumption for everyone to read that might give a bad rap if it is not warranted Hope it all works out.
  6. Sorry, sounds like I have offended you. I wasn't expecting you to respond, I am just making general comments in a general forum about a problem that is being discussed. I have read all that is "ALL" of this thread and quite a few times I might add, to make sure the opinion I had formed and commented was not out of line and based onlyh on the few facts presented. Numerous times people have asked what the actual problem is with your dog and you have not responded? therefore It just keeps coming back to the same questions because they are not being answered properly, one session with Dogtec instead of the three that they insisited on would be needed will defiantely not fix the problem, Steve is better than Dogtec no doubt but even he has suggested in his offer to you that more than one session will be required, The Pawman would have given you a true assesment / opinion based on years of expereince and professiolism second to none here in Brisbane. Teamwork or metro although great may have helped but would have taken time, Steve has been very generous and is commited to fixing your problem and has bent over backwards to offer help as well. It just seems you are very commited to fixing the problem but may not have followed through on everything that was requierd to actually fix it. If I have previosly offended you then I do aplogise in advance for this possibly offending you as well. We just want to see a happy ending. and apart from that, we can all learn from your experience and possibly point others with similar problems in the right direction rather than have to struggle as you have with so many trainers.
  7. I Don't know the Pawman, although I have heard of him through the Training clubs I have been involved with, from what I have heard I agree, he would only offer professional advise based on the facts put in front of him, he would not back away from a dog with a challenge without just cause. Graige is also constanlty talked about here in Brisbane and has a good reputation although I personally have not been involved with him. Martin Dominic at K9 here in Brisbane I can also vouch for, I did a lot of Security training with him with one of my past Rotties. His knowledge is great, his commitment to get the job done and done properly at a reasonable price is brilliant. He also exports dogs he has trained to all around the world. He also is worth a call, as the last post said, a phone call only costs 30 cents and a bit of time. It all comes back to time and making the commitment to work with the relevant trainers advise and complying with what the professionals have suggested. As Steve has said, it will take more than one session and some commitment, and then the rewards will be there. Good luck, to both you and your boy Rottielover01, lets get this problem solved.
  8. point taken. maybe I am just to sensitive when i read about Rotties, Hope Metropolitan is working out for you, I heard good things about them.
  9. Quote "I tried Dog Tech in the past but in my opinion that was a waste and i wanted to try group training, however the instructors wouldn't allow my boy to take part with the other dogs. " End of Quote. Sorry, but I took these as negative comments. Have you tried Metropolitan dog Obedience, they are also good, but not Behaviourists, Wagtails have a reputation as good behaviourists in Brisbane and also Val Bonney is highly talked about. Dr Cam Day is meant to be one of the best in Brisbane and is exceptional but out of my price range. Believe me, I did a lot of research before making my decision and spoke to a lot of people. Sydney I believe is your only other option I think now. Please save your boy and do all of us Rottie fans a favour by presenting to the public another great well behaved speciman of a brilliant breed, (it certainly sounds like you are trying). We are getting enough bad press becasue of a few irresponsible few that aren't doing the right thing by their Rottie, I lov people like us showing them up and proving that our dogs aren't what is portrayed in the press to sell papers. Again, my apologies if i offended you, it wasn't my intention, I just love rotties and get a bit passionate, I also own a small embroidery business and like to stick up for the little people.
  10. You are right, but I had tha same sort of issues with my Rottie, I commited to two sessions with Dogtech and he is now cured, (although I also did a third session for my own benefit to be sure) and I didn't have to go with the other recomendations from other paople of puting him to sleep. If I had also just done just the one session then the problem would not be resolved and he wouldn't be with us now, and dogtec are very clear about this when you first enquire, or at least they were with me. Likewise the Pawman has a brilliant reputation here and I am surprised that he has walked away from the problem, I saved my boy, so am i am very passionate about giving them the best chance using all channels available before resorting to putting the dog to sleep. I am just concerned from my experience that He may have not have given the training with these other people a full chance, from my personeal experience it just doesnt sound right and therefore they possibly shouldn't be publicly riduculed for failing. Team work are one of the best clubs aroung bar none, Pawman has a great reputatuion and Dogtech helped me when others couldn't, so I am surprised about his problems with these people.
  11. That would have to be DogTech, I know I am pushing their barrow, but I really think you should get back in touch with them, he claims he never walks away from a client, and happily refunds money if you are not happy with the service, did you do all three sessions with him? How many times did you see tha Pawman, and did he spend much time with you? he also has a fantastic reputation here in Brisbane according to training clubs I also have been to Team work, they are lovely people, but are an obedience club, they do not claim to be behaviourists. They also have a reputation second to none in Brisbane
  12. THats a very generous offer Rottielover01, you should take him up on that, Even better, I know that the Pawman and Dogtec offer the same, if your not completely satisfied yor money is refunded, you should follow them up for a refund and put this money towards going to Sydney.
  13. What club did you use? I have tried a few here in Brisbane and my own individual opinion?
  14. Yes I read that he has had a few problems, the biggest problem with any sort of training as I am sure you would know is owner compliance.. I have been wondering about that if he has seen,.. I think he said four trainers? and no success with any of them? 1 or two maybe three but four? If you have read my posts I used a trainer here in Brisbane for Lead aggression, the guy on the phone told me before I even booked that I would need at least three seesions over a a month or so to get results and that If I wasn't prepard to comit to that then please don't book with him at all as we wouldn't get the full results,. As it turned out I only needed two sessions to get things under control, but I did the third just to make sure for myself. In the first visit we only worked in the back yard and he gave me stuff to do before he came back, and then we would take the dog out, after that first session I must admit initially I had a bit of doubt, but not after the second time he came. It has taken a lot of ongoing work to keep things right but Im over the moon with the results. hopefully rottielover01 hasn't given up and is going to follow through with you, or finds someone good that can help him, if Sydney is too far for him do you know of anyone here (Bris) that may be able to help? I have heard of Martin Dominic at K9 Centre is very good, is ex airforce trainer etc....
  15. Bummer, that concerns me, hope all is okay, has anyone heard if things are still going okay for him?
  16. hi, i have been itching for the next update from Rottielov01, how are they progressing? did you manage to go and see Steve yet?
  17. I forgot to mention diet, she is on Royal Canine, with a a few pig ears etc every now and again. She loves it and her coat looks brilliant.
  18. I am currently trying dog rocks, they say it takes up to 6 weeks to geta result, it is a bit hard to say if they are doing the job as we have had a fair bit of rain over the last few weeks so that might be actually naturally watering down her urine and not burning the grass. I guess I will have to wait and see
  19. Hi guys, I know this thread is bit old but hopefully someone will be able to help me, does anyone have a solution to a dogs urine burning the grass? not all the time just occassionaly, I tried to buy some supplements from the US that fix the problem but customs seized them and said they are prohibited. OOp's. I read somewhere that adding Tomatoe juice to her diet might help? but I don't like to try anything until I am sure it is okay for the dog?
  20. once again, Sorry, i didn't realise there are different sections, I will try and find it and post the question there. I guess i should have spent a week or so llloking through the site before posting questions etc. I guess thats the first lesson in here for me.
  21. Sorry Guys, I am new to this, didn't rally look at dates so didn't realise the threads are old, I am trying to find a training club in Brisbane and come across all of this. In future will check dates before responding etc. Has anyone Heard of TeamWork, I have been recomended to them and want to make sure they are good, the other two consideration I have come across is WagTails and Metropolitan Dog Obedience, I want to take my younger Rottei to a club with a good reputation, I am trying to avoid the potential lead aggression I had with my older Boy by socialissing etc at a club, not really interested in showing etc. And yes we did do puppyschool, thats how we come across the threads etc, by trying to look these up. Thanks
  22. Looks like I have opened a can of worms, sorry, not my intention. you are right, the guy I used was good and had experience prior to DogTech ( i did ask him lots of questions before booking him, even though my vet had told me he was the best around) apparently the initial DogTech training was 6 weeks initially and then ongoing training every 6 months after that with a limit on the type of work he was allowed to do until he had built his training /expereince in the extras, even though he had past exp. they apparently do not accept everyone that enquires about buying into the bussienss thats why they haven't got as many people as Bark Busters for example, - I guess it doesn't take as long to learn how to throw a chain. so he probably did just use the company as a springboard to get into the industry, I guess good for him and I hope he continues to be succesful. another question I need to ask, and this will probably open another can of worms, does anyone have a solution to a dogs urine burning the grass? not all the time just occassionaly?
  23. Hi Guys, I am a new member to this Forum, If I was a member a while ago and read all of this I would never engaged the services of Dogtech, for that matter I wouldn't have engaged Bark Busters, Cam Day, Take the Lead, K9 etc, with all of that in mind my Beautiful Rottie would no longer be with me either, he would have been put down or the council would have fined me so much for the barking that I would have at least had to buy a barking collar (yuk). I did engage DogTec here in Brisbane, he was brilliant, the problems are solved, my dog is still alive, and I have ongoing phone support if I need it. What I am trying to say is that yes, some Franchisees in some organisations may be bad (but not this one) and I am disappointed that the reputation of this particular person is possibly being negatively reflected by a few bad experiences of others, he is a small busiess operator that has spent years building a business and training to get the reputation he has here, I want to stand up for him as an individual, especially because he saved my dogs life. I bought a holden commodore a few years ago, the dealership really sucked and made a total mess of the deal and the after sales service, does this mean I should tell everyone to never purchase a commodore beacasue they are a franchise dealership and they are all crap? Take everyone by their own merit please
  24. I was told about Dogtech by my vet that I have been using for about 15 years, they suggested I use them to fix a barking and some dog aggression problems that my rottie was having, they claim they send all of their clients with dog problems to them and have heard nothing but positive results, but she did tell me that I had to follow what they said carefully to get the results and normally it does take two seesions with them and to forget about it if I wasn't prepared to follow through with what they said. I booked (and yes it wasn't cheap) after the first seesion I saw some changes in his beavior, but after the second session a few weeks later i now have a different dog, all problems fixed and the council are now off my back. He was also very helpful when I rang him for follow up advise. I have since recomended him to a few people at my work and they have also got the results tehy were after. I think though the success probably does depend on the individual you use, this guy has years of expereince and trains at dog clubs in Brisbane as well.
