Bonnie N Her Aussie Large ungulate bones should never be fed to any dog due to splintering and also due to teeth wearing. All bones should be supervised with any puppy!! I feed raw and have had to pull bones from the tops of pallettes on more than one occassion. Doing it with a dog in distress is not an easy task. If you must give her something then give her a 4 x 2 biscuit and leave it at that for a night time snack. I hope Millie recovers quickly and i am sure the vet will be sending her home with an elizabethan collar or a sock on her foot.

The CCCQ Health days are run approximately monthly. If you are needing vaccinations microchipping or DNA testing done they are the cheapest alternative rather than going thru your vet. Lots of members use them without hassle. Cheapest vaccinations available on the whole in the state. I have used them for vaccinations, microchipping and DNA testing without hassle and will continue to use them. Check the journal for dates and times and prices. I know one coming up is doing heart and eye testing as well but has to be booked well in advance. It is only a cheap alternative due to the fact that members utilise the service. They are still specialists in there field for eyes and heart.

Yep have used it for nose pigmentation and has helped with black coats to be much blacker. Only used a small jar which lasted nearly 2 months for me with decent results as far as i was concerned.

Colormax is a dog product tho i guess it can probably be used on cats too. It has according to the bottle L Tyrosine L Cysteine Hydro chloride Maltodextrin Natural Beef Flavor According to the bottle the first 2 ingredients are what gives pigment its colour. Colour- Max

Rather than Kelp try Colormax. It should be available at better pet stores. Most of the show vans stock it or can order it in. It is an Australian product and seems to work. Kelp if given in the wrong doses can act on the thyroid gland.

Actually if you are using the tin stuff u can make it into treats. Cut thin slices from the loaf and then dry it off in the microwave for about 5-7 minutes. It dries really well and then you are not breaking his diet at all its just in a different form.

Raw is exactly that Raw meat and bones. Barf depending on who you talk to is Bones and raw foods or biologically appropriateraw foods. BARF incorporates pulped veg and grains. So there is a major difference RAW is advocated by Tom Lonsdale DVM BARF by Kymythy Schultz, Ian Billighurst DVM and others

For those of you who are interested in trying something similar try a t shirt on your dog with the front on his back. Pull all the looseness up with an elastic band on there back. Try for about 10 mins at a time so they get used to it. And for those who are able borrow the Tellington Touch book in the loan books thread. Simple and effective. It will also show you some simple wraps that can be combined with the t shirt apparently.

Hi 4paws. It is based on the Tellington Touch or TTouch principles. I have used wraps and Tshirts as well for nervous dogs. I have a friend who is a TTouch practitioner who has helped me with a couple of issues. Normally you would use a bandage for the wrap. Tshirts are a wonderful invention as well for a similar approach. You can actually do a Tshirt and a bandage at the same time.

Hi joebloe, Given pup is due to be desexed in a month i wouldnt stress to much I would offer pup lots and lots of bones till then in the hope it works itself loose. I had Miss Kiss booked in to have 3 canines removed and gave her lots of bones in the meantime. Looked in her mouth the night before and they had all come out with out my assistance. Her mother tho had to have 2 pulled. I was shocked at the root on one and the other would have eventually fallen out. If you are worried ask your vets opinion.

I agree Phil would be the best one to see. I had issues with one of my girls not getting pregnant and we saw him and had her checked for ovarian cysts via ultrasound. He actually talks to breeders as if they have knowledge and had a good joke with him at the time. He actually had a trainee vet in with him at the time and funnily enough this breeder knew far more than her.

Definitely agree she needs to see a repro specialist. She is at extremely high risk of developing a pyometra. She may also have ovarian cysts. Repro will also check to see if she is actually ovulating correctly.

Quirkyhound I have no issues with wellness checks or DNA testing but i do have major issues with the thyroid testing being offered by vets here in Australia. Perhaps you should have been at the Jean Dodds seminar to see why vets here are not doing thyroid testing correctly. They do not offer the correct thyroid tests. At least with Jean Dodds and Hemopet she has records of over 30 years to draw on and to back her up. Ill be doing my thytoid testing thru her from now on given i have 2 dogs that have had thyroid testing done with out an issue being found. Given what i learnt at her seminar both of them suffer from major thyroid issues.

Rommimum If your vet even goes near your Staffy with a vaccination needle he should be hung drawn and quartered. No animal who is sick in any shape or form should be given any vaccinations ever. Your staffy has a heart complaint and has already shown you that he has adverse reactions to HW and Vacc why would you even think about giving him any more. As for KC i cant understand why people who dont even bother to get themselves the Flu vaccine would even give the same vaccine over and over and over again to there dogs. The KC component has not been changed for many many years in dogs and as it is only does 2 or 3 forms of KC anyway. KC continually mutates so a KC vaccine is absolutely useless to any dog. It is just like our colds and Flus that mutate every year and all year. Just because you get a Flu jab doesnt mean you arent going to come down with the flu or a cold. There is an absolute ton of information on the net about adverse reactions if people choose to do some googling and reading. And why dont people ask to see the flyers or prescription notes on medications that they give there dogs but are happy to look at and read there own medication notes. Having just had a dog go to the rainbow bridge due to Osteosarcoma i did a hell of a lot of research into the Medications that were prescribed and there effects so i knew what to look for and to make an informed decision as to what was best for him in the long term. It is no different to the reams of notes i got when i was diagnosed with a heart condition personally. IF you are really concerned you read read and read and then you make up your mind.

Killed Vaccines are preferable as Live Vaccines have other junk in them. That live junk in some dogs may cause adverse reactions. Simple really

For those of you who can still get to one of Jean Dodds seminar................GO!! Jean is an amazing speaker and really tries hard to get everyone to understand what she is talking about. Some quick notes from what i just took personally last night......... Puppies that get colostrum in the first 36 hours have some natural immunity Mothers milk after that time no longer carries antibodies into the puppy as they are absorbed by the GI tract It is a falsehood that pups should not be vaccinated till 2 weeks after nursing. Puppies can continue to nurse if the bitch feels like it for as long as they like Killed vaccines are preferable over live Vaccines. NO other pet in the household should ever be vaccinated with a Live vaccine whilst there are puppies on the premises due to shedding of the virus for the next 2 weeks Light pigmented dogs are more likely to have utoimmune issues/Vaccinossis this includes blues/silvers/lilac/merles etc I was very impressed with her knowledge and love for animals and her ability to give real evidence and studies which prove her theories. Hopefully the CCCQ's Health Committee will be getting involved with thyroid testing thru Hemo pet and Aussies will also be able to contributing to the Canine Genome projects that they are involved in as well.

How about adding some lamb hearts or beef hearts to there diet as well. I also add meaty lamb flaps and meaty pork bones to both my puppy and adults diets. You need to add more meat to there diet so things like beef cheeks are also a good idea. Maybe even some sardines or salmon for a bit of variety

Try the tropical coat conditioner from Groomers Products link here You can use it as a leave in conditioner. Rinse out only till the water is milky. Groomers also have a shampoo for dry coats in there salon range as well.

Poppy/Cath is being spelled so hasnt been entered either. Tho i did get her PT Breeders Certificate today. Colins wife has her in training for obedience. She has finally doing automatic sits and is getting drop. Beryl is thrilled with her. I think there is going to be some competition in that family as to who gets to trial her in what.

I know a few who are going. Janba i believe is going with Cole her NZ import. Coles sister Jinny is going with her mum. And then Colin one of the NSW herding trainers is also going with some of his team after having had a second knee operation. I wish all of them the bestest of luck. Ill be at home with my puppies.

Try a product called Colourmax. Most of the show suppliers carry it or can order it in for you. I would not be messing around with kelp as it has been proven to have thyroid issues in some dogs if over dosed.
