  1. Id be interested as i am currently feeding Bonnie Working Dog to all my crew. But i think Inala would be the closest to me for purchase. Is there a way of getting samples to try??
  2. Some lines of Australian Shepherds come in every 12 months or more. I think dependent on lines in any breed you can have a great deal of difference in heat cycles and then mating potential times. My 13 month cycling Australian Shepherd is mated at a much more "normal" time frame ie 14 - 20 days. Most of my bitches are pretty good on being every 6 months however in saying that most cycle very quickly and are out of season by day 14 in there cycle. I am sure other breeders have quirks in their backyards!!
  3. Sheridan Was it the Thornit Ear Powder you were using? It is still available. Cheers
  4. Those that are shown regularly are washed weekly in Groomers Royal Jelly Shampoo and sometimes conditioned with the Groomers Tropical Cream Conditioner. If i am trying to grow coat as on my little Papillon she is washed twice a week in Groomers Royal Jelly. The other dogs are washed in Groomers Salon range. As Groomers has no salt we have no issues with scurfing and have nice clean smelling dogs.
  5. Thanks Ness All the Hotnote dogs are either from my Candy aka Ch Luvstock Andromeda HIC or are her half sisters. So Hotnote Asgoodas Itgets ( To many titles) and Hotnote Mr Goodbar AD JD are her sons Hotnote Electri Cute and Hotnote Electric Dreams are her half sisters. Candy and her half sisters have the same mother tho are bred under different prefixes. So i have to be pretty proud of her offspring and her rellies. Maybe she can outdo herself again this time with the litter that is currently in her belly. Can only wait and see!!
  6. Could someone please post the link for the results from the Nationals. One of my girls had half sisters and sons compete that did really well I heard and i would like to see for myself Thanks in advance
  7. Can i suggest that part of the problem may be the salt that is used in whichever shampoo you are using. I had a dog that was allergic to Aloveen which is supposed to be for allergic dogs. I suggest you try Groomers Shampoo with Evening Primrose Oil. It comes in 2 concentrates if it is a very serious problem you will need to start with the vet grade. Washing every 4 days and also spraying the coat 3 times a day with the EPO conditioning spray. If it is not so serious with yucky sores the regular EPO shampoo will be fine. Many of the breeders on here will tell you that Groomers products are wonderful...... many of them use the royal jelly shampoo for coat growth. The best thing about them is Groomers products have absolutely NO SALT in them. They are good to assist dogs with allergies and also teenage acne problems etc. If you want further details please contact me via PM. I am now a complete convert to there products after having seen some absolutely amazing results.
  8. As a breeder i personally believe that puppies should be taken off Puppy food and put on adult food as soon after they leave home. Puppy food tends to grow pups to fast. Puppies need slow growth an adult food will give that to them. The only thing i would possibly supplement with is Fish Oil and Vitamin C. Adding calcium is a big no no in my books. Other food which can be used would be Chicken parts, lamb flaps, beef cheeks or other meaty beef pieces, meaty pork pieces etc.
  9. I trained my guys well above the level expected in obedience. By that i mean they were doing some UD exercises. Same went for tracking with corners and length of time tracks had been laid. The more difficult the better it was. My girl enjoyed CDX far more than CD which was as boring as hell to her. Her CDX passes were much higher scoring cos she was happier cos she got to do things she liked to do. As for my boof head male, well if there was someone in the next ring they were always interesting to watch hence lots of lagging. He always worked brilliantly in training but he just had to be a sticky nose at trials. He eventually got his CD after 13 efforts and lots of laughter from me, judges and spectators.
  10. But the problem with mincing is that they are a minefield for pathogens due to the larger surface area that you create. I have Border Collies, Australian Shepherds and a Papillon all of whom have white faces and feet. I have no issue with them with keeping them clean. I also have an older BC with no front teeth and badly worn all other teeth she still crunches with the best of them. She enjoys the softer bones of chicken frames. However she will also eat any bone that may even look like coming her way. Most dogs adapt to eating bones with or without teeth. Mince is for babies when they are first being weaned after that they should be able to chomp into most edible bones. Its the teeh work out that is the important thing, making the stomach juices work and geting them to chew and rip to give there teeth a good cleaning.
  11. Montall Do yourself a favor and ask the breeder of your boy some serious questions in regards to PL and Leggs - Perthes. Then do some more serious research on the internet about both conditions. If you are serious about finding out if your boy has even the slightest possibilit of having Leggs- Perthes get him hip xrayed between 9 and 12 months. Find a decent vet who deals with toys and breeders and get his patellas checked annually He should also be PRA tested i believe as there is a DNA test available i believe. Annual eye checks are also a good idea
  12. Sorry Cowanbree But Leggs - Perthes in small breeds is very common. The hip joint just disentegrates and most breeders are well aware of it as it usually appears to start hindering the dogs movement between 6 and 12 months. It is one of the questions I ask of toy breeders as hip scoring would at least give a clear indication at 12 months if it was to occur later. As for PL if a breeder is not aware of how movement is affected when a dog has PL then they should get a vets opinion as there are varying grades. Have a look in the toy ring and those that have skippy jumpy movement you will find have some sort of issue with PL. It would be absolutely wonderful if some of the toy breeders took on more health testing in their chosen breeds rather than sticking their heads in the sand. And I will be breeding my Papillon shortly and she has had exactly the same health testing as my Borders and Aussies. I have been riduculed by toy breeders and i still stand by my decision to HD and ED and PL and eye test her.
  13. So sorry but at least he is now pain free and you can remember all the happy times. Run free at the Rainbow bridge Comet with all that have gone before you!
  14. Pat Hastings of the Puppy Puzzle talks about this in her books. You need to get him off all premium foods and get him onto a medium level ADULT food and add up to 1000mg of Vitamin C daily to his diet. NO added calcium or any other additives. Do it immediately!!
  15. i dont know what type of glue she has in her coat Leopuppy but you could try some orange oil on a tissue or wet one. You will probably need to wash and then condition the coat afterward as it is likely to strip. Dont they make a product called goo off or something similar available at like Spotlight? Good luck
  16. I feed pork!! My guys love a pigs head every now and then. I have one girl who only eats pork when she is pregnant. Has never done her an harm. Always whelped lovely puppies. Please be careful with ham guys. Ham is cured pork. It is usually either salted or has soium nitrate used to cure it. It is not good for dogs on the whole. Better off feeding straight raw pork.
  17. I have 2 debarked in my kennels. They still bark contantly but it is hoarser to say the least. Neither have breathing issues. One is in training in herding and up until her last litter was in training on a daily basis. Even when she was pregnant and carrying way to much weight she still worked ( her choice small runs) She was panting excessively then. I feel it was more to do with the weather ( hot) to many puppies and to much fat ( she was a good 5 kg overweight) She is back to being slim and trim and does not pant excessively but still barks excessively. Her debarking has changed her and my relationship as she is not constantly being told of for barking at nothing and for continued barking. And she was not a bored dog she just liked the sound of her own voice. She was debarked before the new laws came in! There are also still vets around that will debark in Qld but you have to be willing to have tried various other avenues before they will do the operation.
  18. Hi all Rotti owners As you are all probably aware that Rottis are not on the list of approved herding breeds as yet. But what is hoped is that with some push and some interest from a few of you they will also be able to participate in herding as well. This is the exact same scenario that happened with Samoyeds. The lovely woman who took Shek trained and titled a Samoyed before they were on the herding register. She has had to wait until they were accepted then re test her for the level she had already gained. That neat little Samoyed "Cindy" now has her PT title. So all you Rotti owners start standing up and being counted and ask your breed clubs to get involved in their formal acceptance on to the herding register. They can herd and are very successful overseas in herding. I'd love to see some of them here in Australia having a good time too Cheers
  19. Congrats Shek!! I knew you would have fun and get to see another side of dog sports. I am so glad that the boys at least showed some major interest for you. Best wishes
  20. Hey all I hear that someone in Tasmania who owns a GSD and a Rotti tried her hand at herding today!! We need to get her to answer some questions about how they went and why she kept it such a big secret!! Where are you SheK????
  21. Hazz Raw Meaty Bones and Works Wonders are written by an Australian Vet!! He has a huge following around the world.
  22. Hi There are a number of Rawfeeding groups on Yahoo!! Tonnes and tonnes of information and helpful advice from them to. They have lots of links to other sites and types of menus. Cheers
  23. Id be interested in finding out as well and if there are any other tests on as well
  24. Hi again Norskgra Depends on what you consider raw feeding. If you are feeding BARF then not necessarily. However if you are feeding a raw prey diet then as long as she is eating bones and meat and a bit of other I wouldnt stress. Candy ate raw bork bones and pigs feet and the occassional heart whilst pregnant and delivered 7 extremely healthy babies. One is already a Multi JR CH And CH in Europe and another has about 5 titles after his name already and the have just turned 2. Hip scores have been done on 2 and are brilliant. So if she chooses to go off our staple of chicken again I certainly would not be worried. What I would add tho is some good oil wih Omega 3, 6 and 9 in her diet. Will she eat raw fish or canned fish? Cos you could try that as well
  25. Hi Norskgra I personally wouldn be giving raspberry leaf tablets to your bitch at this stage if she is pregnant. If she is off her food at 3 1/2 weeks i would think th signs are there that she is in whelp. Let her eat what she wants and if its meaty bones so be it. One of my bitches went off chicken totally when pregnant and would only eat pork. That was fun trying to work out what she would eat too. She wont starve herself and it wont hurt her to eat what she will a this point in time Good luck
