  1. Thank you Airedaler and Coogie for those links. I have contacted Instincto and I also contact Ironwood Cottage. Again many thanks!
  2. Yes she was initially put on Hills ZD after a really bad bout of bloody diarrhoea etc. but after a while we switched to RC Hypo which was a better fit until the allergies surfaced. I was reading on the other thread for renal disease that it shouldn't be a high protein diet. I am starting to think that everything I feed is wrong for one of her 3 problems.
  3. I am wanting it for the bacteria to populate the gut of a sick dog. Don't think freeze dried would do the same job unfortunately...so I am wanting the yucky fresh stuff.
  4. My 12yo girl has just had a blood test which came back with slightly elevated levels of creatinine. She is now on Amoxyclav for a few weeks and then will have to have the creatinine level tested again. She also has been diagnosed with pancreatitis. I have been feeding her kangaroo and veges stew for some time now to control the pancreatitis. I don't know what to feed her after reading the other recent topic started by Jaybeece which recommends Hills KD. She had to stop chicken as the protein source which is one of the reasons she is on kangaroo. She developed an intolerance to RC Hypoallergenic food that she was on for 6-9 months...she got very itchy. What can I give her now? I am very concerned. Would it help to take her to an internal medicine vet?
  5. Does anyone know where I can buy green tripe in Brisbane? Preferably north side.
  6. Sorry I do not know your history and I am not fully understanding however...Interceptor is given as a heartworm preventative. It is given monthly and will control round worm but not tapeworms. Drontal is for tapeworms. Flagyl is an antibiotic for gut problems. First thing I would look at is what you are feeding your dogs? Second thing is what are you using to control fleas?
  7. I totally agree with you Amax....although exposing pups to different experiences does help.
  8. Thanks for that book, I will look out for it. Does anyone have any personal experience using their own socialisation program? I also found this study http://www.behav.org/00library/articles/dog/dog_puppy_socialization%20program.pdf the findings of which seem to be rather inconclusive.
  9. Bearing in mind the balance between socialising a new pup and keeping it safe before full immunisation kicks in, what do you think is the best way to socialise a pup from say 6wks of age? I have the chance to start on a socialising program with a pup that I bred so I am looking for a range of exercises designed to help the pup grow in the right direction. Can anyone suggest a good starting point and what to do as the pup grows?
  10. If it was Parvo did you advise Jet Pets so they could sterilize the crate, or was it your crate?
  11. The clam shell sounds like a good idea....any ideas for inside the house?
  12. Thanks for the suggestion but that wouldn't last 5 minutes. It would be totally chewed up...we are talking 6 month old puppy that chews everything.
  13. Small to medium sized breed - I have put a brick in the water bowl but it gets dug out leaving the dog without water. It's OK at the moment but when the hot weather starts again it will be a problem. For the size of the dog, the determination to dig the water out, which includes the brick, is very strong. Any ideas on how to stop it or at least have some water for the dog to drink?
  14. A bit late for replying but.... I have had two electric treadmills for my dogs over the years. They were the cheapest human ones I could get that allowed the start speed to be .8kph. It is more common for them to start at 1kph. Probably if you have big dogs starting a 1kph would be OK but I have medium sized dogs. The first one lasted for over 5 years and the second one is about 18 months old now and no problems. The first one cost me $200 and the second cost $350 (inflation). I put a puppy enclosure down the sides so they don't try to dismount. I wouldn't even consider getting on special dog treadmill or paying a high price for it. The cheaper ones have worked well for my lot!
  15. The one I saw was Kirklands Grain Free...its first ingredient I think was turkey and it was in a brownish coloured bag.
  16. That sounds great....I will definitely try my lot on it! Price was $47 from memory.
  17. Saw it today but as I have plenty of dry at the moment I didn't get it. Looked at the analysis and it looks really good and Grain Free too! It is their own brand so it will be imported from USA.
  18. I have only ever found my dogs want to eat grass if their gut is upset in some way otherwise they don't touch it. It seems like the gut only has to be mildly upset for them to want to eat grass.
  19. Thanks for that. I guess it didn't sell?? Is there another product that does the same?
  20. Does anyone know if you can still get Thrive D? I have looked in a few of the well known places but can't find it.
  21. Doesn't look like DLE to me. The architecture of the nose looks normal. Hopefully antibiotics will do the trick. You don't use plastic feeding bowls do you?
  22. I haven't heard of that test. It was not offered. Can you tell me a bit about it?
  23. I have been taking my girl to vets/specialists for quite a long time now. She has always had gut issues but they got worse over time, especially after 9 years old age....she is 12 years old now. She was diagnosed IBD several years ago by the internal medicine vet and after an episode of haemorrhagic diarrhoea that landed her in the emergency hospital for nearly a week. We thought we were going to lose her. She left hospital on Hills I/D which progressed to Royal Canin Hypoallergenic as it was a better fit. After about 6 months on that she started to scratch...she was always chewing herself etc. Skin specialist said she was not tolerating the hydrolysed protein in the dry food so he put her on a kangaroo stew diet with veges. Can't add oil etc. as that sets off the IBD. She is thin, the vet describes her as athletic but at her age if she gets sick there won't be anything left of her to fall back on. I suggested to the vet that she have a scan to see if we could narrow the diagnosis of IBD down to something specific but he suggested the Enzyplex saying that scans can be inconclusive. And that is where I am at, at the moment! She has two problems...itchy skin if fed on hydrolysed protein which is in the I/D diets and restricted diet from IBD.
