  1. Dont mean to hi-jack the thread Unfortunatly I do not have the picture of him when he first arrived at the rescue dont know what happened to it. This is an "after" shot, taken April 2008 at the age of approximatly 9 - 10. The tails going, my cousin is about to throw the ball for him.
  2. His got bullbreeds, one is a Staffy, the other I dont recall.
  3. Sand grubber is right. Most children arnt automatically emotionally scarred just because they get bitten by a dog. What causes the majority of the problems are parents and others around the child that carry on like maniacs. Especially at that age the child wouldnt have a clue. In this case the child was bitten, the child is fine, no big deal. What would be ideal here is if all involved put there hand up and took responsibility, and maybe learned something But instead, one guy blames the other guy, some blame the dog, some project thier fears onto the child, others call for dangerous dogs, no dogs in shops, and so on and so forth
  4. Thanks for the update MRS T. He looks great My boy was also emaciated just the same as him when he was rescued at the age of 5 years old, and in addition had big fear issues with people. The rescue did a great job in bringing him half way back to health, and I brought him fully back to health. End result, Built like a big torpedo with legs, and the most biddable, outgoing, friendly and intelligent dog you could meet. He is a very special boy and I also named him "Puppy"
  5. The poor little mate. Oh well hopefully he will recover fully and will be able to go to a good home :p
  6. Theres alot of good people out there, and breed warriors with the financial backing to kick @rse. This is what its all about, draining the councils of thier morale and thier money. By bieng "persistent and annoying" and as endlessly difficult as possible. That combined ofcourse most importantly with the fact that upon reflection all will see that these laws are fundumentally flawed and have failed to reduce dog attacks. In the meantime the majority of experts and welfare organisations are condemming and will continue to condemn BSL, eventually the government will listen, only a matter of time folks. My respect and thanks goes out to all the people fighting to the end for thier dogs
  7. Sounds to me like the truth is somewhere between the media report, the parents side of the story, and doglover06 "recounting of accounts".
  8. No cause to be saddened or take offence lisa. We can only go on the information available.
  9. Because the child got bitten while the parent was having a haircut. It probably is a friendly dog, but its a dog. You dont leave babies to do what they like. Under the right circumstances (ie messing with the dog while its eating) the risk of a bite is 100 fold. Well now he knows better (I hope).
  10. Its not appropriate, however that does not absolve the parent of any responsibility, not a fraction. If the parent was supervising his baby properly it wouldnt have happened. The baby could have pulled stuff down in the shop ontop of herself, scissors, displays, ect, slipped on cut hair and cracked her skull, run out of the store onto the road, you name it. Or does he expect the hair dressers to keep one eye on the client and the other on the kid running loose. All while the doofus sits there and gets his hair cut, the baby does whatever it wants. And in this case ofcourse there was the added danger of a loose dog.
  11. The parent is at fault because its clearly obvious there is a dog in the salon. This guy had his haircut and not to worry. Who is looking after the 20 month old ? Who would let a baby run around a salon Dog or no dog, let alone with a dog there. I cant imagine how the parents ISN'T at fault. Facts re the dog eating at the time are not clear at this time, however ofcourse the owner of the dog takes a large portion of blame here aswell they both do.
  12. Doesnt sound like a terribly big deal. Having said that its not the point it could have been. I dont know the facts of the incident, havnt seen the news report about the dog apparently eating at the time which would make both the owner and parent even dumber
  13. He shouldnt have agreed to do the interview he didnt do himself any favours. Its clear that his only sorry that he ended up in jail, hurt his career, and so on.
  14. Theres been a million threads like this mate nothing new, infact there was a thread just like it very recently in general plenty of good ideas, a search will bring it up. I think the topic creator was cosmolo.
  15. Your welcome amy. I think some people beleive that organised dog fighting is a common underground activity in Australia, its just not the case. I think the RSPCA said something about it once is that why people think its so prolific ? Well then ring them and ask how many dog fighting cases they have prosecuted. Dont believe the hype. The APBT is not widely fight bred in Australia far from it.
  16. My opinion (and the fact  ) is that the APBT was initially bred as a dog fighter. He was and is docile to humans as a whole as it is an important characteristic of the breed which was bred for expressly. This is in stark contrast to a "guardian breed" of which you accuse the APBT of bieng. Iv said it many times and ill say it again, there are many examples of APBT's which are capable of guarding, however they are in the minority. Now im not saying there is anything wrong with guardian breeds far from it, however thats not the point, the point is the APBT is not one of them. edit - Wanted to clarify 2 points on the dogs history. The ancestors of the Pitbull where used for bear and bull baiting, however its when this activity declined that the sport of the day became dog on dog fighting. Its thought this is when the first Pitbulls came about (although theres speculation on that point). Later the dogs where taken to the USA, the Americans bred the dogs more to thier liking aesthetically and renamed them. The dogs where still used for dog fighting, and in addition they where used for hunting and other work. They where the most popular family pet in the USA up until WW2 I believe.
  17. You got me all wrong mate I didnt make any dig at Neo's I love that breed aswell. So you do understand. You cant agree with that AND agree with what your father in law says. Sometimes it doesnt matter who has experienced what. Fact is the APBT is not a guardian breed.
  18. Not all of us apparently. And thats called "projecting". The statements made by your father in law are foolish and false. It is the minority of dogs of any breed that would be happy about a stranger walking into thier yard. "Border collies", "Pitbulls", "Cattle dogs", ect he says "you have to watch" pfft good on ya. And what about Schnauzers, Dobermans, Neo's, and Kelpies ? Dont have to watch them ? The guy knows jack, that was my first impression when I read your post and its even more evident now, he doesnt "get it" and niether do you. You have made various far fetched (read - catagorically false) claims, for instance, "Pitbulls are a guardian breed". No cred, end of story
  19. I am offended that you would try and pass off his prejudice and false breed specific allegations as fact on this forum by talking up his "credentials".
  20. Love both your dogs thier cool photos
  21. Good luck with it Kreed and thanks for doing what you can to help the cause
