Family Pet Dogue De Bordeauxs Stolen And Killed
Zhou Xuanyao replied to HollyMilo's topic in In The News
There isn't really enough information to get a picture of what happened. I hope that it did not play out the way they suspect but I would not be surprised. Those poor dogs. Sure they are. Then you woke up. Uh huh. RSPCA QLD eta And this joker Must be some kind of backward town what a cast of characters. -
In this fortunate case she did. I am commenting on the process of identifying the dog.

The blind leading the blind, first the ranger, then the (presumably) show judge .... and dogs and their owners are at the mercy of these buffoons and the convoluted system they operate under. The breed assessor could have just as easily turned around and said it was infact a Pitbull, as often happens, and then thats it, you have a "dangerous dog".

7 Year Old Girl Mauled In Central Coast Shopping Centre
Zhou Xuanyao replied to samoyedman's topic in In The News
Forget about all dogs having to be muzzled. Few would listen, even fewer would be motivated to enforce it, and even if they did, like I say, few would listen it would fall in a heap, not gonna happen. -
It happens, there alot of people like that around. The poor dog how sad for the big oaf. Dogs are all heart, he isn't sweating it, it's the humans that worry. I'm sure his just getting on with his life and loving the extra attention his getting from his owner.

The breed of dog does not matter in the context of the incident itself. The concern is with the way the breed of dog is reported in the media, and that DOES matter, because it has an impact not only on public perception but on legislation. More than likely this dog was not a Pitbull at all, but apparently, thats not important. Lets just chalk up another one for the Pitbull. It is a combination of false reporting and selective reporting.

Do You Feed Your Dogs Morning, Night Or Both.
Zhou Xuanyao replied to ~Myschafis~'s topic in General Dog Discussion
I feed morning and night. Reasons 1. Because otherwise she will be hungry. I would not like to eat once per day, so I reason, neither would my dog. 2. Because in the past I have had problems with her being a fussy eater. I tried various combinations of meal types and times, and came to this and it works she eats perfectly. -
Oh yeh there are some big mals around, I have seen a few like that, they are like Mastiffs. I remember one at the dog park in Haberfield. It was the biggest dog there. I remember one day, my boy was laying down not taking any notice of anyone, and this mal walked nearby. The expression on my dogs face when he saw him was priceless. He was like "WTF !!??"

Look at this one, its in slow motion http://video.au.msn.com/watch/video/viciou...ral-hit/xodhwoe

You ? Yes, quite. No, I don't. It's a dog. A dog can't "deserve" anything. You are humanizing the dog, projecting. You don't know if the dog was "crazed". Some dogs, when they fight, it's not easy to get them to stop. This dog apparently is one of them. Thats not "crazed". He wanted to fight, so he did. There was no one effective there to break up the fight, so they continued until it came to a conclusion. Would this dog attack a child ? I don't know the dog. Neither do you. Your logic seems to be, that because it attacked this dog then its is "probable" that it would attack kids. Well, thats not right.
-
Lol two doggies. The "killer dog" "got what it deserved" ? "most likely would have done the same to the kids living next door" ? Your talking about a dog that attacked another dog. You make it sound like your talking about Ivan Milat. You should be a journalist.

The dog needs time and patience. Your parents favourite terms from now on need to be "Encouragement" and "Gentle Persuasion". My best advice, never flood the dog. Never "let the dog sort it out", throw her in the deep end, or in any way over expose her to stimuli she is afraid of. Bit by bit, build her up to it, don't rush.

Protective But Not Aggressive Breeds
Zhou Xuanyao replied to Shakti's topic in General Dog Discussion
A job i'm on at the moment, lady owns one of the largest Rottweilers I have ever seen. His head is waist high on me, i'd say 80kg, that is probably conservative. He is docile like a big bear when she is home, the perfect family pet. When they are not home though, they leave the house unlocked and the back door open. The dog has the run of the yard and the house, and his temperment is the opposite when his left alone to watch the house. Forget locks and alarms all that means is they gotta be quick that won't stop you getting robbed, this guy you better believe there will not be any burglaries at this address. -
Its only a Shihtzu it would not take much. It was probably fighting, so they used more force and pinned it down around its neck, ignoring its struggling and carried on grooming, next thing they know, it's dead.
-
They have things arse up. The other day we saw news of all these ridiculous penalties for a woman who sold a goldfish to a child under 16, these 2 strangle a dog and they get a fine. Some justice that is.

Id have her on a little check chain and correct her, not when she barks, but when she looks like she is about to bark. The idea is to get her at the right time. Too early and she has no clue what is going on (bad mum), too late and the training will take much longer and the correction will have to be firmer (bad mum), just right and you can train with a gentle but firm correction and she will get the message quickly (good mum). Aside from being embarrassing, small dogs who punch above their weight can have short lifespans.

It is good that they are coming out and having their say on behalf of their members. Problem is, some of what has been said is false and/or misleading, meaning, it is likely to be discredited. Having said that, logic certainly is not the strong point when it comes to BSL so who really knows.
-
I wouldn't know, as I have not assumed anything.
-
I would not call it assuming, I would call it "suggesting" a scenario that seems more likely.
-
The kid claims this is what the police told him, the police have not stated this is what they told him. I am not suggesting his lying, but common sense suggest he might be jumping the gun and taking it out of context. What probably happened is the police might have said that charges are possible pending an investigation. Meaning, hang on, lets start by figuring out if this kid is telling the truth or not and take it from there.
-
It is not inconceivable that a dog can attack for no reason which would be apparent to most people. That is not to say that is what happened we don't know, but it is far from impossible. I'm hardly going to take the fathers word for it he sounds emotionally compromised, further to that he was not even there so how would he know if the kid was stirring the dog up or not. There is nothing wrong with the kids hanging out in their street that is how it should be, instead of inside watching tv. We used to hang out when we were about that age, all the kids on our street and surrounding streets did, we used to just hang out, play ball, ride our skateboards, ect.

Dog Attack -> Potential Bsl Convert
Zhou Xuanyao replied to LisaB85's topic in General Dog Discussion
Well choose whatever you want thats your problem. My view is not typical of someone that has owned a DA dog, if there is such a thing. You have no idea how far you have got me wrong. Too much projecting and assuming, not enough listening and thinking. -
Dog Attack -> Potential Bsl Convert
Zhou Xuanyao replied to LisaB85's topic in General Dog Discussion
I am not going to cover the same ground it has already been said, post number 63. Take something away from that, or call me an idiot and repeat the same logic, it's upto you. -
They have completely lost all common sense over there fair dinkum they are worse than us, and thats saying something.

Dog Attack -> Potential Bsl Convert
Zhou Xuanyao replied to LisaB85's topic in General Dog Discussion
It might sound harsh but it is the truth. In my second post I elaborated to be more clear. If people stop being so defensive all the time and have a think about it they may learn something, otherwise carry on with the same attitude, there will never be any improvement in the rate of dog fights, attacks, and so on. The OP, instead of looking at what she could improve, the foremost thought in her mind is how wrong the other person is and what her breed of dog is. Am I the only one around this place that can see anything wrong with that ? We have another correspondent here, in one sentence saying I do not know what I am talking about, and in the next sentence relaying a story about how her own dog was recently attacked at an offleash area
