Loving everyone's photos!! Sorry for the non personals I have the worst memory (I'll blame it on the baby brain!) Here is week 3 for me - Got a new lens (17-70mm and was just having a quick play with the dogs, really bad lighting and an all round crappy photo but it makes me laugh) IMG_7945 by kalexte, on Flickr

:D They have great grandparents in common, Vonforrell Amber (IID) http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=414584 and Fax Vom Grenzgänger http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=123934 my boys sire http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=740383 Lovemesideways and Bianca.a both of your pups are gorgeous!!! They are both closely related to my girl (I'll put up a pic when I'm on the computer). They are great lines!! I highly recommend Raennik!! If it wasn't for Leigh we wouldnt have gotten our girl! I train with a few dogs with those sort of lines and am very impressed with them! (although I don't have much exp when it comes to GSD's) ETA- Here is our Fluffball - 1IMG_0859 by kalexte, on Flickr 1IMG_7880 by kalexte, on Flickr 1IMG_7947 - Copy by kalexte, on Flickr -

Ok, here is my album. I think this is right, I've never really used Flickr before. 52 Week Challange IMG_7917 by kalexte, on Flickr This is my first photo. Nothing special, but yesterday was WAY to hot to find something to take a photo of.
-
I'll try and give it a go, also going with "52 weeks of stuff/whatever's around when I remember to take a photo".
-
Wow!! Thanks Cougar!! I'm so excited to get it!!
-
Thanks again cougar and Kirislin I have decided on the 17-70 :D and am now pricing up where is best to get one
-
Thanks for the replies!! I think I'll go with either the 30mm 1.4 or 17-70mm, now which one
-
Hm probably around $600-700. Was just told by DF that I can get a 1.4 if I want, so around that price. Mainly just the pets and our new bub when they arrive. Thanks Kirislin!

Can anyone please recommend a good general use lens for a canon. I've been thinking a 50mm (probably 1.8, unless I can afford a 1.4) and then what brand, an actual canon or sigma or another suggestion? Is there something better than a 50mm? Thank you in advance for any help!!

I'm so happy to hear that!! My thoughts are with you both and I hope that she continues to improve! It still amazes me, the resilience dogs have, they just never give in!! Keep fighting Amber!!
-
Hi Jules, Just wondering how Amber is doing? I haven't had the heart to come into this thread for awhile (still finding it hard). I hope she is doing well!!

My GSD's only about 7 months old, so can't really say much there. But I'm sure if you groom them regularly then it shouldn't be a problem. We use a furminator brush on our girl and its great!!!
-
Better contact the AVA Steve, they will put you in touch with one of their veterinary behaviourists who will charge you squillions to fix the problem slowly and scientifically. Yes you should always show the dog the desired behaviour, yes you should reinforce the right behaviour. But once again they make punishment seem like it's simply beating the dog or taking out anger management issues O_o If in doubt, totally malign that which you dont understand  Don't forget with lots of drugs ;)

I took 4 weeks part time off (normally I work 5 days but for 4 weeks I worked 2 days) and she came to work with me untill she was about 4 months old.
-
Do you know anyone who works at a vet clinic? I ordered one for Lexi thru work at wholesale price.
-
Thank you everyone so much!!
-
I have a leerburg 2 handled leather leash and love it!!! So much so that I want another for no particular reason. We also have a few ForDogTrainers leads which are also great.

Lexi is about 5 months old, she currently still has 3 retained canines that are siting alongside her adult teeth. I have spoken to the vet about this and he said it can be common as the adult canines push thru next to the puppy teeth. Where as the rest of their teeth they grow underneath and push the puppy teeth out. He said to give her roughly another month before taking any further action. My question is has any one had this before? And is there any particular food or type of bone/meat that she would use her canines with to help them come out. She currently gets brisket bones, chicken frames ect. But she does not use her canines with them. Thank you in advance for any help!!!

I cant thank everyone enough!! It means so much to me!! I am very emotional about everything, but I am also quite happy, and ok with it. We knew that morning he was ready to go, you could see it in his eyes. I will not write down the details of how he passed away as some people will not be able to handle it. But I will say it was very quick and I was with him. He is at peace now, having done all he needed to do on this earth. And he waited to leave till he knew we would be able to handle it and cope. He stayed strong as long as he did for us. I will think of him every day, and never stop missing him, he was my heart dog. This is the time where I wish he was hear the most. He was who I turned to when I wabests sad, in need of a hug. He always knew how to put a smile on my face. He touched the hearts of all who met him and will be missed by many people. RIP Kaiser.
