Yep I feed my two every sort of fruit except grapes. They love fruit.

Pugs are crazy when it comes to nail cutting. I only do my twos dew claws and that is a bad enough experience.

OMG you poor thing and your poor girl. My first thought was that maybe they did drop her or somehow injure her back whilst she was under. GA works on the nerves so maybe it has done some damage to her somehow or they are still paralised. My old family dog, a corgi, had a similar thing happen to him after he went under GA to remove some lumps. He was very weak on his back legs for some time I recall. It is years ago and he is long gone so I don't really remember the details. We always thought that the vet had dropped him or twisted his back in some way. Like others have said I would wait untill I have exhausted all avenues before making the decision to PTS. Good luck.

Nappy Rash Without The Nappies
puggy_puggy replied to Caesars mum's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Could she be allergic to something? Seems like a contact allergy maybe. Is she on a new type of food? She could need some antihistamines. Poor poppet. You can send the rain down here to Melbourne please. -
Poor little man. I am rather disgusted that the breeder didn't desex the dog before it was rehomed. All the breeders I know desex before rehoming and the new owner usually just pays for the desexing cost. Mmm dodgy breeder for not desexing and also tacking down the testicle. Pugs are prone to getting rotting teeth and gums because they have such squashed little mouths and still the full amount of teeth to fit into them. My girl pug, nearly 5 years old, had her teeth cleaned and 3 taken out last year. She has a tiny mouth and gets feed the same stuff as my boy pug. He has no teeth problems. So it really depends on the dog.

Ohh I so can't cope when I find a chicken head still on a chicken neck when I am dividing the necks up into seperate bags to freeze. I have to pretend it's not there and throw it out with the fatty offcuts.

My vet never notes the brand or attaches the vaccination stickers, only signs and ticks what vaccination has been done. If needed I am sure he would note the brand, batch etc. I think that a follow up KC vaccination is reccomended, after C5, if the history of the dog is not known. Basically following the puppy KC vaccination schedule. I suppose the vet is assuming that the dog has never been vaccinated, or has not been vaccinated for many years, so would have no prior KC immunity.

Yep it's 'goose honking'. It's to do with the soft pallet. When your dog starts doing this open up his mouth and make him breath through it rather then his nose. A few deep breaths through his mouth should stop him from honking. My pugs will 'goose honk' every now and again. If they get to excited, get water down their noses in the bath or for other rasons that I am not aware of. I found that during winter when it was really cold and we had the heating on my girl pug was doing it every morning because of the cold air and the lack of moister in the air from the heating. The pugs will usually sort themselves out with thier 'goose honk' so I usually leave them. But if it goes on for to long I will open their mouths and make them breath through it, as I explained before. If the 'goose honking' becomes a regular excesssive thing for your dog you may want to look into getting his 'soft pallet' shortened.

Dry Sore Nose - What Could It Be?

Try vaseline on it. -
Try wrapping/swaddling him up in a doona, or something similar, with only the foot you need hanging out. Hold him on his back between your knees. Hopefully this will do the trick.

8mth Puppy Losing Spots Of Hair

I am sure you have done nothing wrong at all. Please don't be to hard on yourself. Take her to your vet and have some skin scrapings done and take it from there. -

Most likely to be either mites or mange but..... Do you have other dogs? Could they be ripping out little chunks of hair when they are playing together? -
It does look a little sinister. Could your other dog have bitten her? My two have the occasional tiff that has led to a scab on the ears inside. Could it be skin cancer from her sunbaking? I wouldn't worry about her going under GA to much if she is healthy and you have a good vet.

Some people even suggest children cough medicine.
-
Could be Kennel Cough or some other form of respiratory virus. If they don't seem to be getting over it themselves have the vet give then some antibiotics.
-
Ohhh don't squeeze them.

Yep pugs get pimples. Phisohex (the human pimple facewash that you can buy from the chemist) is great for treating the pimples.
-
Um I have heard of cats doing this as well as ignoring their owners, when they get back from holidays, but not dogs. The holidaying pugs and rescue pugs that I have had stay here have never been off their food when they returned home or have been adopted. But pugs are really pigs and love food.

Jack Isn't Himself Today -- Sore Shoulder?
puggy_puggy replied to Mooper's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Seeing he is 8 it could be some arthritis setting in if it turns out not to be his paw. A course of anti-arthritis (I forget the name) injections could help him. -
I have heard of that type of reaction happening with pugs with Frontline & Advantix. People think that their have been bad batch's or something. Have a read of this thread from OzPugs about reactions: http://www.ozpugs.com/viewtopic.php?t=81089 I think you probably wont be able to see photos unless you are a member. I use Revolution on my kids and have never had a problem.

I use a shedding blade on my pugs. (kinda looks like a hacksaw blade twisted around into an oval with a handle on it) I have been through every other sort of brush there is out there and have found the shedding blade wonderful.

I would also agree with others in saying try the anti-inflamitory injections/ tablets route again and this time DON'T EXERCISE HER AT ALL! Sounds like you didn't give the injury time to heal. If after 3 weeks of meds and NO EXERCISE (this mean no throwing her the ball, no walks) she hasn't improved spend the money to have the xrays done. I would always try other things first then have to put my dog under GA unless it was totally neccesary.

Yes I don't feed rawhide or pigsears. Years ago whne I did feed pigsears my boy would always be sick afterwards because of how fatty they are.
-
Not sure what Selvita supplements are. Will have to google I think. What are you feeding at the moment? Probably if you are feeding a good dried food people will say that suppliments wouldn't be needed and if you are feeding a BARF or RAW type diet then the suppliments could be a good idea.
