They wont touch just veggies, silly mutts. I want them to have full bellies so they don't try mauling my ankles off but at the same time not have too much fatty stuff hence the 50% lean roo and 50% pumpkin as a filler. They have lost weight since I saw them last which is good [both were over 10kgs last time!!] How much do your pugs weigh? Give them some time to understand what the veggie slops are and that they really are yummy. Alot of the rescues turn their noses up at the veggie slops for a day or so but end up loving it. My female is, nearly 7 years old, 6.5kg and male, nearly 9 years old, is 8.8kg.

Ask Cosmolo about them. It's either the Easy Walk Harnesses or a very similar product that Underdog Training use for some dogs.

If you really want to get the weight off I would suggest half a chicken neck and some veggies slops for the fatties. My adult pugs, that are of healthy weight, get approx 100 to 150 grams of food each a day.

Lamb flaps are lamb ribs. As pugs do not need to eat alot the lamb necks are usually halved or quatered and the kangaroo tails either halved or cut into thirds. This is their only meal for the day.

Lamb flabs, lamb necks and kangaroo tails get fed here. Pugs are small dogs.

Intranasal KC vaccinations can make dogs have snotty/stuffy noses. Was he from a pound or another place he could have picked up the KC?

Pugs eyes and cats claws do not mix. Kittens are silly and pug pups are even sillier which could lead to disaster.

I thought the mdr-1 sensitivity/Ivermectin Sensitivity had symptoms that were more on the neurological side of things . Frankie, the rescue pug we are treating for Demodex Mange, had neurological side effects to Ivermectin before he came into our care. Apparently, after only a small oral dosage, he would sway, have dilated pupils and not be able to sit up. Frankie is now being treated orally with Moxidectin, and no neurological side effects have presented. Moxidectin is one of the drugs in Advocate spot on heartworm, flea and worm treatment. I also believe that it is deemed to be a safer drug to use for mdr-1 sensitivity/Ivermectin Sensitivity dogs.

Get rid of the dry and canned food! Get rid of any treats! Get your dog onto a raw diet that does not contain grains, chemicals or preservatives and I am pretty sure that after he had time to detox you will see an improvement in his skin condition.

- They are not registered with the council as anything other then rate payers - They do not have an abn as they see themselves as hobby breeders - The do not have a council permit to have more then the allowable number of dogs on their property. This is infact why they were at the council meeting applying for a 30 dog permit, dating back to April 2008, which was rejected. They had previously applied for a 12 dog permit in March 2002 which was withdrawn due to further information, that was requested, not being sumbitted. - They are not a registered with the DPI as a 'Breeding and Rearing Establishment' There is alot more going on behind the scenes. The RSPCA was at the property today. Are you meaning Dogs Victoria (who our rescue group is associated with through the Compainion Dog Club) who used to be called (let me check my old membership papers and my dogs pedigree papers) the Victorian Canine Association Inc.

Perhaps sedation would not be necessary for the xray. Did they vet say he would have to be put under to xray? Is your dog overweight? The Floating/sticking out rib is usually pretty easy to see and feel. I have seen quite a few pugs with it and yes it has only ever been on one side.

I think that you need to read the council meeting transcript: http://www.moorabool.vic.gov.au/ Starts at page 19

Very sad.

Thank dog. I thought this thread was going to be about pug x ridgebacks. As others have stated it's their hackles and yes pugs can raise their hackles just like any other dog can.

Another vote for Dogs in Motion, but I suspect that is where you are going already.

Blind dogs cope amazingly well it's us as owners who take longer to come to terms with their loss of sight. If you make their world constant and safe they can live a happy life. My pug old boy went totally blind suddenly at the end of last year due to SARDS. He is 8 & 1/2. He is basically living his life the same way as he did before he went blind. He knows the layout of the house and the garden and gets around really well. Ocassionally he will bump into things or get a bit lost but he will call out for help if he is really stuck. He uses the doggy step to get on and off the couch, even sometimes jumping off the couch. He still loves his walks and I am still able to let him off the lead at the oval. Apart from putting baby gates on the bottom and top of the the internal stairs, as I don't trust him to go up or down on his own, and pulling out a few spikey plants from the backyard there really isn't anything else I have had to change for him.

Dog Making Choking Noises
puggy_puggy replied to chuckandsteve's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Sounds like it could be Goose Honking/reverse sneezing. Which is basically the soft pallet getting stuck. If it goes on for to long open your dogs mouth and make them breath through it instead of it's nose. Getting them to have a drink of something can also help. -
Opinion On Pomeranian's Diet
puggy_puggy replied to koalablue's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Puppy milk really is a waste of money. Dogs do not need grains and many can be allergic to them so the rice again is no good. Below is an example of a raw puppy diet. If your pup is fine with chicken necks or wings then youc an subsitute the minced chicken carcuss for them. PUPPY BARF DIET - Approximately 10% of their actual body weight daily 70 to 80% of which should be Raw Meaty Bones and 20 to 30% vegies, offal & dairy, divided up into 3 meals a day. Breakfast & Dinner Puppy mince(minced chicken carcasses) & veggie slops (small amounts of fish, kangaroo, beef, offal, youghurt etc can be mixed in on alternating days) Lunch raw meaty bone BARF SLOPS INGREDIENTS & METHOD The key to the BARF slops are lots of raw green leafy vegtables and making sure they are food processed. Dogs are not able to naturally break down the cellulose walls that veggies and fruit contain so we have to do it for them. Things to always include: - container of alfala spouts - bunch of spinach (roots cut off) - bag of carrots - bunch of celary - 4 zuccinis - 3 to 4 oranges (peeled) - 1 pumpkin - 2 to 4 apples (pips taken out) - 2 to 4 bannanas (peeled) - bunch of silverbeat - 4 oranges - 8 to 10 eggs (whole including shell) - flaxseed oil (approx 250mL) (some people choose to not include this and add to the food daily) - kelp (approx 100g) What else you can include: - 1 to 2 green capsicums (stalk cut off & seeds out) - 1 to 2 red caspsicums (stalk cut off & seeds removed) - turnip - squash - 2 to 4 pears - half to 1 pinapple - brussel sprouts - brocoli - cauliflower - bag of beans - Apple Cider Vinegar - Vitamin C - Garlic Chop up then process up in blender/food processor so that things turn to slops. Put each blender batch into a big bucket. Usually leave the eggs & flaxseed oil for things that don't blend very well like the pumpkin and carrots. Ingredients should fill up a bucket. Mix bucket with big ladel till all mixed through then put into take away containers & freeze untill needed. -
Aww that's nice. It will be much better for you to know either way. Yes if it's just a fatty lump then they can pretty much tell straight away by it not drying properly on the slide and then by looking at it under the microscope.
