  1. Can you get canned tuna with bones? I would feed sardines rather then tuna as the sardines have bones (which is important for the meat to bone ratio).
  2. The ''whimpering loudly'' would be a concern to me. A stomach bug with a few vomits, runny poo, off her food and sookyness wouldn't make me to worried but the fact that your girl is crying does make me think it's something more then a bug.
  3. Humans and dogs have different nutritional needs. Dogs don't need their food cooked. If your wanting to feed your dogs a natural diet look into BARF, PREY MODE or RAW diets. Puppies can be fed BARF diet from the time they are weened.
  4. F10 for cleaning. Ring your vet and consult.
  5. The bones your are feeding are obviously to hard for your dog to completely eat meaning they really are the wrong bones for your dog. I doubt that you will have a problem with any left over bones once you change to softer ones. For a dog to get the correct phosphorus (meat) to calcium (bone) ratio it must be able to consume all of the bone as well as the meat on it. Weight bearing bones are usually the hardest bones and not reccomended. Non weight bearing bones are much better for your dog. Softer bone suggestions: Lamb bones Turkey necks Chicken carcusses
  6. I missed the blind bit. Have you done any scent training?
  7. Perfect solution. Many doggy doors are lockable. You could even have your dog sleeping in an area accessable to the doggy door and a baby gate blocking access to the rest of the house. Making your child unable to even get near the doggy door whne it is unlocked at night.
  8. When you spoke to the registered breeders who did not have any puppies did you ask them if they knew of other breeders who did? Most breeders know the what is going on in their community.
  9. As everyone else has said you are being to soft on him. He thinks he's the boss and can do what he likes. I would leave him outside untill he goes to the toilet. He can stay out untill he does. You could even put doggy pants on him whilst inside. I don't think he will be pooing in them in a hurry.
  10. You might find a crate a better option in the long run as he wont be able to push it around like a puppy pen. When Poppy, the 5kg pug, has decided she has had enough of being in her puppy pen (she gets put in it outside to go to the toilet) she will literally move it from one side of the courtyard to the other.
  11. For my own dogs I never used crates or puppy pens. I just took them outside all of the time to go to the toilet and they pretty much would go to the back door and ask to go out after a few weeks of this. For two foster puppies I had last year I had them in a puppy pen with newspaper and a bed. I also took them outside to toilet constantly so by the time they were 12 weeks they would pretty much hold on untill I took them outside. They would also cry and shake the puppy pen when they needed to go. This is probably my preferred method if you have to contain the puppies. The foster girl I have back here doing rehab after orthopedic surgery is in a crate so that she can't run around. I have a crate liner (fleecy on one side and rubberised on the other) and some soft pollyfleece blankets for her to lay on. She is only in there during the day as she is in bed with me at night. But this is the set up that most people would reffer to as crate training.
  12. Glad that Fred has come through his big operation. I am sure that he will be soon back to his normal self and wondering what all the stitches are about. Fingers crossed for a good outcome on the tests.
  13. Knee cap could have popped out then popped back in again.
  14. Do you have a crate or puppy pen to keep her in so that she can rest the torn ligament?
  15. Could be cruciate ligament. Could be luxating patella. Seeing that this is a reoccuring problem a vet visit really is needed to try and figure out what the problem is. At the very least the poor dog should not be allowed to be running around like crazy and should be resting the leg.
  16. Good luck. I hope he is ok. I give the pugs lamb flaps once a week. It does make their poo chalkier then usual and cause them to go to the toilet probably twice as much as on other days. But apart from that they have never had a problem. The day after they get the lambs flaps they will usually just get muscle meat and veggie slops as their meal.
  17. As Artyfatry sdaid the panting is most likely due to pain. I would be rather worried if my dog was panting, didn't want to eat and had no energy. If this continues I would be seeking a vets help quickly. Is he drinking water? What is his normal food? If it is dry food then you probably added to the problem. I would hold off on giving him dry food and give him moist things like sardines and pulped vegtables.
  18. The pugs get apples & pears pulped in their veggie/fruit slops. (seeds removed) They get apples for treats. (seeds removed) In summer when the peach and apple trees are laiden with fruit they will sit outside all day eating the ones that have fallen on the ground. (they don't eat the peach seeds but the apples are totally eaten)
  19. Pup should be still on 3 meals a day. You are probably feeding the right amount, if you are following the packet. Divide the amount you are feeding now into three meals.
  20. Never to late to toilet train. I have done so with several adult dogs. Take him outside after sleeping, eating, playing etc and tell him to 'go to the toilet' Praise him when he goes. To start off with it might be a good idea to carry him outside as you say that on your way out he is squatting.
  21. How old is the puppy? IMO you should be feeding three times a day untill the puppy is at least 6 months old. I would have no clue about dry food so I suggest you follow the packet instructions on the quantity to feed. If you were feeding a BARF/Raw diet it would be 10% of the puppys weight daily.
  22. Ewwww. I can imagine your panic. Honey probably wondered what you were carrying on about. Any idea why they came apart? Was she able to lick or scratch at the area or was it because it was on a joint area so the movement of her leg caused the stitches to fail? Healing vibes for Honey.
  23. Poor poppet. What has your vet/surgeon/specalist said about her not using the leg? Have you been instructed on any physio that you can do at home? I would presume it hurts so therefore she doesn't want to use it. I have seen this with other leg operations.

  25. Ear mites Yeast infection Deep middle ear infection A vet check is needed.
