  1. Do your dogs ever fight? Could be a bite mark. Have seen many spots where dogs have nipped eachother and the fur has fallen out in a clump. The spot is usually brownish/blackish. Zinc cream is good for things like this.
  2. Your puppy is to young to be alone. Please don't lock him in the shed. Is he unstead on his feet at any other times?
  3. And vets just love diagnosis by google.... Can't say I use google. Just as I would hope you had knowledge of your breed I do of mine that has been gained from years of being a dog owner and involved in rescue.
  4. Have you tried bones, chicken necks, sardines & yoghurt?
  5. You can always refuse the medication a vet prescribes. Perhaps you should be a little less ignorant and educate yourself a little via the internet and books and you would have an idea of what your vet is going to prescribe. I usually walk into the vets consult knowing what is wrong and what meds are needed. I feel so sorry for vets. They are the equivalant to human doctors but get much less respect and people are always bagging them out for how much they charge. Yes there are some vets that do overcharge but the majority do not. If you are not happy with the prices your vet charges go somewhere else.
  6. I would have no problems in feeding her the BARF.
  7. $40 to $50 is the norm for a vet consult. I have no problem with this. If you want to try and bring the cost of medication down then ask the vet if the product is a human product. If it is then they can write you out a script that you can get filled at a normal chemist. Unlike vets chemists are able to purchase drugs in massive bulk quantities so are able to sell them at a lower price.
  8. The omega oil probably wouldn't do much but the bran and psyllium husks might as it is the extra fibre in the veggies that is usefull. I would blend up a small batch of veggies and give it a go for a week or so. You could try just a simple batch if you didn't want to go the hwole hog. Something including pumpkin, spinach, cellary, whole eggs and pears.
  9. What do you feed? Many people see massive differences in the quality of their dogs fur when they switch over to a BARF or similar natural diet.
  10. Sounds like he is the boss. This needs to change. Remove the toys. If your beagle can't play nicely with them then he doesn't get any. Give him a toy if he is being good but immediatly remove it and tell him off if he doesn't play nicely. I would even put him somewhere for timeout. With the food obviously he is ruling you because if he knew you didn't allow bowl sharing he wouldn't be doing it. Either feed in seperate rooms. Get a puppy pen and put him in it to eat. Get a water pistol and spray him and a loud voice and tell him off if you choose to feed them together and he tries to go to the other dogs bowl.
  11. I've found it to work on some dogs and not others.
  12. I would get it checked out. Have you included things like food processed veggies/fruit and flaxseed oil in his diet?
  13. Isn't the only place you can buy those pet loos from that horrible pet shop? I wouldn't be handing them $300 of my money. I think that the cat litter would be a much better idea.
  14. Yes my pugs don't understand that they are supposed to chew up chicken necks and swallowed them whole. They have no problems with lamb flabs and rip and chew them apart.
  15. The way they are dried usually involves chemicals. They also usually have lots of colouring and flavourings added to them. Not to mention the choking hazard. What sort of bones have you tried? Lamb flaps (ribs) Do you restrict the area that your dog is in whilst it has the bone?
  16. Why haven't you had her desexed? I hope you don't intend to breed her. I hope you are keeping her in a very secure location untill she has finished her heat and is able to be desexed. What do you actually feed her? Many dogs can be allergic to grains or even different meat.
  17. Poor Amber. jabbawok I am so sorry that your parents are being completly ignorant and ignoring their dogs obvious injury and pain. Perhaps if you print some information off from the internet about her injury it might get through to them.
  18. Around $75 is the norm for a yearly check up and C5 vaccination. I have no idea about the heartworm injection because it is not something I choose to give my dogs.
  19. The teeth in the second picture all seem to be different shapes to the first one. I would be suspicious as well.
  20. So you got rid of the other puppy? 6 weeks old is far to young to be in a new home. Does your area have fleas?
  21. You need to get a crate so that she can't hurt herself. Poppy has one of these crates The surgery is only part of the solution. If you don't do things properly when you get them home the surgery is a waste of time and money.
  22. How have the lamb bones gone? No you need to actually buy powdered capsules. Either from the health food shop or online. Discuss this with your vet. Maddie might be a dog that actually doesn't produce digestive enzymes naturally so has trouble digesting food. I forgot to say that with the brown/black skin my boy pug used to get brown/black horrible skin in his groin area from yeast infections. I would say that is exactly why Maddies skin is brown/black. Give it a few months and you will probably see a massive improvement and more white spots.
  23. It's a bit hard when it's not your own dog. I would be feeding chicken necks/carcusses, lambs bones and pulped veggies/fruit.
  24. Gorgouse doggies. First thing I see is the lack of bone. This would throw the calcium to phosphorus ratio way out of whack which isn't good at all. Why is the turkey mince cooked? Have you tried it raw? Perhaps you can get minced turkey carcusses which would improve the bone ratio. Why are the eggs cooked? Try blending them with the veggies including shells. To much fish can also give some dogs the runs. Try the lamb bones. If they work then you could feed your mix and a lamb bone on alternate days. Kangaroo bones might be something else to try as they are low in fat and maybe that is what upsets Madeline. Digestive enzymes might also be useful for Madeline. As for the skin getting more white spots. I would say that it is detoxing and the white bits are what are supposed to be there but the staph and most likely yeast infection turned the skin black/brown.
