  1. Black spot is pigment and normal as others have already pointed out. What do you feed? Looks like the tounge is covered in something.
  2. I would rather give large chunks of fresh raw veggies to puppies for them to chew on then something that is manafactured.
  3. ;) http://www.groomersproducts.com.au/groomersproducts.htm
  4. as Erny said it really depends on his weight. I think his weight looks just about right so if you really did want to give him more food I would make it low cal stuff like veggies and fruit.
  5. Yes I have a butcher that sells dog mince (minced chicken frames/carcusses). They also sell a big variety of bones and offal.

  7. Rabbit is a rich meat. It could be causing the runs. I would be getting rid of the rice and table scraps. If you want to feed things other then dry food try chicken necks, chicken carcusses or other raw meaty bones.
  8. Tacrolimus drops is the long term treatment I believe and yes in the drop form it is soooooo much easier to apply then the horrible ointment. I would very much recommend Dr Robin Stanley as a fantastic eye specalist. http://www.animaleyecare.com.au/
  9. What eye drops is she on laeral and have you taken her to see an eye specalist? I know of a puggy with Pannus. I know they try to keep her out of direct sunlight.
  10. My vet said that he has seen more sucess with products that have the green lipped muscles in them which Sasha's Blend has but Joint Guard doesn't. There is a product that is basically just crushed green lipped muscles which may be cheaper the the Sasha's Blend. Whatever you choose purchase it online and you will save a heap of money.
  11. Another vote for the belly band whilst inside. If not that then you can't let him out of your sight. As for peeing on yourself or other dogs outside I hope you tell him off. Water spray bottle might help as well. He has to learn that this is not acceptable.
  12. Fantastic news that you are both home and things are going well. Fingers crossed for the next MRI. It will be very interesting to hear how much the tumor has shrunk.
  13. I would either feed the necks of the minced chicken carcuss as basically they are the same. The chicken necks are better for teeth though as it gives them something to chrunch on. So either feed the mince of the chicken necks. Here I have only really fed the mince to puppies as it was easier to eat. For my adults I feed the necks (chopped up but you wouldn't have to do this with a larger dog that can chew them properly) I know the minced chicken carcuss is cheaper then chicken necks so that could be a small factor in your thinking. Perhaps you could feed the mince and the chicken necks on alternation days. The same 2% rule would apply.
  14. I do the holding between my legs trick as well but this is for pugs. It might be a much harder job with a larger dog. A treat afterwards is always a must. Persevere with the struggling as it has only been a few days and she is probably testing you. I am sure that she will slowly get used to the whole eye drop rigmarole. While she might never like getting the drops she will learn to bear them.
  15. This dog physio would be sure to know of the different locations available http://www.sydneyanimalphysiotherapy.com.au/
  16. Perhaps if you do half and half and see how it goes. So half the amount of dry food you give a day and then 220grams of the minced chicken carcuses (2% of 21kg is 420grams and half of that is 220grams) If you are going to feed bones as well every now and again (make sure you dog can totally consume the whole bone so choose none weight bearing softer bones like lamb) either don't feed any other food that day or only half or less thne half of the mince & dry combination. If your dog is getting fat then cut down the food.
  17. Aww poor poppet. Doggy steps and and off the couch from now on. $4,000 sounds more like a specalist price then a normal vets. I probably would get them done at the same time. Less recovery time = less hairpulling by you.
  18. If it is minced chicken carcusses then the mince is perfect. If you were feeding a purely raw diet you would feed approx 2% of your dogs weight daily. Seeing your dog is young and probably very active it might be a little more daily. As raw food and dry food are very different it's hard to say how much you should feed.
  19. Get her onto a good diet of raw meaty bones for her joints. Much better then any dried food for her joints and bones. BARF for Beginnners Poppy who had similar but more complicated surgery as Daisy is fed BARF. She is on a course of carthrophen injections every 6 months and has Sasha's Blend on her food every day. Get rid of the beef bones as they would be to hard for her to chew. Not only will they ruin her teeth she would only be consuming the meat off them and not the whole bone which is not what raw meaty bones are about. Try softer non weight bearing lamb bones. My older boy also gets Sasha's Blend. I have no problems with both Poppy & Winston consuming it if sprinkled on chopped chicken necks, sardines, offal, veggies slops etc. You could add some water to the dried food and the powder would be consumed when the water was.
  20. Seeing that it is going into a well sheltered undercover area how about just using a crate? If you got the plastic ones you could just cover it over with a blanket and make sure you put loots of nice bedding in it. If you got a wire one I believe you can get canvas covers for them and again you would put nice bedding into it.
  21. All I can think is they may be to fatty. See how he goes. If he can't chew them and consume the fully then you will know they are to hard.
  22. Can you soak a tissue or something similar in the pee and put it in a bag or container?
  23. Continue taking her out to the toilet. She is only a baby and only getting to know your house and yourself so of course she is not going to be asking to go out to the toilet by herself just yet. How often are you feeding her? She should be doing more then one poo a day. Please don't use citronella spray on her crate bedding. You should stay at the place unstill she has toileted then put her in the car. At 14 weeks she would not have had all of her vacciantions so I would be warey of taking her to dog parks or anywhere that you don't know the vaccination status of the dogs that have visited that area or the dogs that are currently there.
  24. Whe I first saw these hings in the shops I thought 'what the!'. Wy would you feed your dog that crap when you could throw it real raw vegtables and fruit instead. I noticed that the pet produce store I went to on Thursday and the hydrotheraphy pool I have have just started taking Poppy to still has these horrible things for sale.
  25. Ahhh that is terrible. Your dog may not have been injured physically but emotionally it would be. What area of Melbourne are you in? There are many places with Hydrobaths all over the place.
