Oh no, you were really looking forward to going too! I know . I have to work all day Saturday now and don't think it'll be worth going if I miss the first day. My place has been taken by a lovely lady who use to be my obedience instructor with my old boy Buster so at least it's gone to a good home .

Well done Jess ;)

Yay it's only a week away. Yesterday I thought I wasn't going to be able to go because of work(my manager couldn't decide if she was coming or going) and I even advertised my spot but as of this afternoon I can definitely go . I think this seminar will be great for my current training motivation slump - It'll be a new challenge ;) .

No idea Sounds interesting though! Looks like a teams event! I know who will be in the WA team..!! and no, it's not me How fun would that be. So the WA team would be bedazzled, Ptolomy and ?

Lottie's gorgeous . I see you've picked up huski's hands in the middle position .

Sometimes I wish I was just content in enjoying them as just pets and not worry about training, cos then I'd have no hesistation in looking to expand my fur family ;) But I'm afraid I'm just far too addicted to this whole training thing, so 3rd dog comes when I'm in a training position to do so I'm seriously considering giving up training(well with competition in mind anyway) because I've never had the motivation for it that you guys do and my dogs have a happy life with our long walks and cuddles on the lounge ;) . I do enjoy training but more for the fun of it than training for competition. This week I've started asking the dogs for a hand touch when I recall them when they're having an off lead run it's like tag then off you go again, they love it .

I'm going to try shaping Banjo to tug when I have food to. Banjo does love to tug but not always if I have food on me and at agility training I had this new chicken and ham polony for treats and he refused to tug .

I have to laugh Tiggy - I emailed Strauss's breeder yesterday, she lives in Norway and I was complaining about how cold it was in the mornings here 1 degree Brrrrrr. She came back with.... a good laugh now... Thinking about our - 32 degrees last winter, and three hole months without once the temometer showing + degrees. :-D I wrote back and said I promise not to complain again I could never live there My dogs are currently on the lounge wrapped up in wool blankets with the reverse cycle heating on :D

I'm not feeling very motivated to train at the moment . I'm loving our long walks and just enjoying the dogs as great pets. It's too cold to .

Banjo likes to track to . When I get home from somewhere he'll come out and track my exact route I took from the car and sniff along the ground right up to my feet :D .

My Canine News came today :D

For those who train agility and obedience do you find you train them pretty evenly or one more than the other, I tend to train obedience more, love them both but .

Okay my circle heel work I do isn't duration heel work as I still reward frequently, it's fun though . My dogs could both definitely handle starting duration heel work so I must add that to my long list of things to train.

I should be there Thursday . It's going to be freezing though .

Smell Distractions On An Agility Course..how To Train
Tiggy replied to sheena's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Keeping in mind I know nothing (and I emphasize on nothing) about agility, I find with my dog once I get her 'up' and working in drive she simply doesn't notice distractions lying around. For example last night at training we put an open bag of stinky luncheon roll under a cone. Simply walking her past it Daisy went crazy, she could smell it instantly and went mad trying to sniff it out and had she not been on the leash I am 110% certain she would have tipped the cone over within seconds. I revved her up and got her in drive and walk her around the same cone so close she was touching it and she didn't even glance at it never mind put her nose on the ground to scent out the food. It wasn't a conscious decision to ignore it - but because she was so focused and switched on and aroused, she simply didn't think about it. I can do the same thing walking past people crouching on the ground waving food at her. How cute would Daisy be doing agility -
Yes. But I was hoping for my $50, it might come with an extra day in the week so I have time to train it afterwards The only part I understand is yes . What are you saying?

RubyStar did you end up registering for the Rally seminar ;) ?
