    Barf For Pups

Type BARF/Raw feeding into the search engine in this puppy thread or the health and nutrition thread might be better. There is loads of posts about BARF/Raw feeding and loads of information on the internet.
  2. Most people on here seem to feed their dogs twice a day myself included but I've noticed most raw feeding books/articles sugguest once a day feeding, random meal times and fasting. I'm reading Dr Clare Middle's book 'real food for dogs and cats' in which she talks about the benefits for liver detoxification. Liver detoxification will never occur completely if the dog is fed twice or more a day, seven days a week, week after week. More than six meals a week may compromise the liver's ability to ever fully detoxify. Just wondering other peoples thoughts.
  3. Sophie is also desexed. I just took photos of her tail. She's actually probably had it for about a month this time. Sorry the photos aren't very clear but it's hard to photograph ranga tails especially when the don't stay still.
  4. Sophie's hair grows back in a couple of weeks. I see Molly has had hers for longer but it does look like the same thing. I'd try something like the Vets All Natural dermal ointment or something similar which will help with the dry skin. You could try washing it with Malaseb that seems to fix most things. Molly's not ugly either .
  5. Sophie gets it to. It doesn't bother her and goes away on it's own.
  6. I buy the Camel and Sweet Potato purely for a treat. It's $5.99 for 600g. If you can source game meat cheaper I'd be interested.
  7. I saw whole kangaroo tails into meal size pieces while still frozen.
  8. Good advice about stuffing the chicken frames :D .
  9. I switched from BARF to Raw(prey model) feeding this year but I'm still nervous . Happy with the no vegies but nervous about feeding so much meat off the bone. I've seen people say they feed 80% meat, 10% bone and 10% offal. I'm still feeding raw meaty bones as the bulk of the diet. I thought excessive meat off the bone wasn't balanced . Please enlighten me.
  10. I saw Artemis have a Power Formula.
  11. Sophie got a golf ball size lump after her OP but the Vet said it was because she's an active dog and the swelling did go down. Just keep an eye on it and try to keep her quiet.
  12. There's Obedience and Agility at Midland Dog Training and Perth Dog Training holds there Agility in Ashfield. All local to Bassendean.
  13. I probably only wash my dogs(Staffords) four times a year maybe. I don't find they get dirty or smelly. They do swim most days though. I'm going to wash them tomorrow because it's going to be 35 degrees. I think I've only washed them once since last summer.

    Eating Habits

I'd stick with the three meals a day until she's six months old then two from then on. As long as she's putting on weight I wouldn't be too worried.
  15. The RSPCA won't get my business. PetPlan seems popular. I know some people don't like to have a credit card but they come in handy for unexpected vet trips. I had to put Sophie's crutiate ligament operation on my credit card . I should have had insurance .
  16. Pookinuk is now selling Artemis. http://www.pookinuk.com.au/pet-products.asp?categoryID=116
  17. I feed my Staffords Eagle Pack Holistic and they do really well on it.
  18. I don't feed pigs ears. I'd rather give them raw meaty bones to chew on.
  19. I think Better Pets and Gardens can order it in for you. Natural Paws sells the cans and can order the dry food. http://www.naturalpaws.com.au/food-treats-subcat-70.html
  20. Pookinuk sell it. Postage is only $5. http://www.pookinuk.com.au/pet-products.asp?categoryID=67
  21. I'd try to get a liquid because the capsules I got say easily fed as a treat but the dogs won't eat them so I have to pierce the capsule which is messy.
