  1. I took Banjo to agility training for the first time lastnight. We had so much fun and Banjo was a little star. We have to decide on our left and right voice cues. What do you guys use? My instructor uses freck(short for freckle) and patch because of his dogs face markings which I love.
  2. I'm getting one for my doggies when I finally get my $900. I'm a bit confused on the sizing because there doesn't seem to be a large on their website but I'm sure I sure a large at Better Pets and Gardens but maybe it was something different  . I'll be getting the x-large otherwise.
  3. You can try stuffing the chicken frames with chunks of meat/offal so it's a meatier meal.
  4. I want to get mine the heavy duty bungee chook. It looks better for tugging. They already have an aussie dog tucker ball they push around to get treats out.
  5. Give her fish oil capsules. At first you can pierce the capsules over her food it she won't take it whole but most dogs will take it like a treat.
  6. So for agility do you teach the sit, drop and stand from both sides? I was thinking the both sides thing isn't going to be a problem because I walk the dogs on both sides but then when I tried to reverse all my signals for the right side I was so un-co , poor Banjo. I'm also wishing I never taught him the automatic sit in obedience, I'd rather he stands beside me when I stop. I'm going to practise my hand signals without him so I don't confuse the poor thing.
  7. Does anyone subscribe to the Clean Run magazine? Just wondering what the postage costs.
  8. I'm sure he'll be fine. Some dogs are just lean no matter how much you feed them. Check with your Vet if you're worried.
  9. I can't belive you have a flyball club in Esperance and there's not one in Perth . I wish it would get up and running here.
  10. Could be a rotten baby tooth. Banjo had one and it stunk!
  11. Hey Boxagirl ! I'm sure you could start a week later especially since you've done it before. I rang Tom for the training info. You can PM me for his phone number if you like.
  12. Air dogs sell a few tug and treat type toys. http://www.airdogs.com.au/agility/home.php?cat=249
  13. Yay I'm starting at Perth agility on the 1st of May . I'm so excited! I spoke with Midland to. The lady said they haven't really been doing agility this year.
  14. Hello me again . I've decided to do agility only . I'm having so much fun with Banjo's agility foundation training. Can't wait to start training at the club. I felt like I was forcing myself to do obedience when it's not my thing. It's all about having fun with your dog .
  15. I've got Banjo up to almost CCD level in obedience but I got bored with it last year and haven't been training this year. I've got my motivation back now though. I've always wanted to do agility. Sophie did her cruciate ligament before she was a year old so that ruled her out. Banjo was a slow maturing dog, I didn't want to start him at one year old, he's almost two now and looks good. Still debating if I want to do agility only or the both. Time is definitely a factor. Thanks for the replies .
  16. Sophie(Staffy) got it as a puppy after being vaccinated.
  17. Does anyone know what Midland is like for agility? I've only done obedience there?
  18. I'm just wondering peoples thoughts on doing both obedience and agility. I know some parts of obedience(eg left side only, focus on handlers face) can be detrimental to agility. I'm tossing up between doing the two or just focusing on agility which I have fun with where as obedience feels more like a chore. I have no doubt my dog is smart enought to know the difference between the two it's me that's the problem .
  19. Wow you're doing so well with your dogs . You're really motivating me to do more with Banjo. Ed's a spunk to .
  20. I'm ordering a few things from Leerburg and saw they have belt leashes. The smallest one would be too big for my waist but I thought I could wear one over my shoulder when we do off lead training. I thought this could double as a trialling leash as it's about 1 metre long. What length leash do most people use at obedience trials?
  21. I know there's a few DOL Perth members I just can't remember who.
