  1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xn1W-WJA2fo Video from today. We're off screen alot sorry . At the last sit I accidently dropped some food and dumb me said "did I drop some" and Banjo dropped. I was so happy that he dropped so fast because we've been working on the drop but hopefully I don't let the "D" word slip again because I don't want him dropping from a sit. Banjo thinks he should be training me .
  2. I'm reading Sheila Booth's book 'Purely Positive Training' and she says to teach the verbal signal first then when the dog is reliable add the hand signal because the hand signal is so much easier to learn for the dog if you teach them at the same time the dog won't learn the verbal.
  3. I tell a lie I just watched the video again and I think he caught that last treat I threw him .
  4. I wasn't using a clicker in the video but I do use one when training new things but otherwise I use 'yes' as my bridge word. I don't tend to use it at club training.
  5. Just filmed my first video. Keep the volume down low I have a high pitched voice . I've noticed I'm holding my left arm funny. I need to hold it in close to me. Banjo's usually pretty good at catching food but he didn't catch it once in the video . http://www.youtube.com/user/Tiggystaff
  6. Yeah Banjo sometimes tries to join in to .
  7. I feed three meals a day until six months but some pups may drop down to two earlier if they start refusing meals. I then feed two meals until 12 months maybe then feed once a day. What are you feeding? If you feed dry I'd recommend feeding two meals a day as an adult but if you're a raw feeder like myself you can feed once a day.
  8. I've been working on heeling, turns, signals etc without my dog(he watches me like what are you doing ) but now I find myself even doing my obedience turns at work :D . I'm wondering if anyone else does it :D . It's good for my posture at least.
  9. Banjo will be in the ring next year .
  10. RubyStar that clip of Ruby was really good .
  11. I don't know if you like rope leads or not but I got rope leads made by Lodgeropes and they're the best. I've got 10mm 4ft leads but they could make whatever length you're after. The leads are strong and I got the brass snaps. Lovely people to deal with.
  12. I love your yard. When can I move in ?
  13. That's what Brian Fielder said to me at our first attempt at CCD. Great dog (for a poodle) - shame about the handler. He was so right! He's going to be my judge in CCD. It'll be my first trial .
  14. Luckily Banjo is very laid back and I don't think my nerves affect him too much.
  15. I've entered my first obedience trial and I'm already nervous even though it's not until the end of February . I keep telling myself it's just a trial etc but it doesn't help. I think all I can do is put in the training and be well organised on the day and hope my nerves don't get the better of me. How do other people cope with nerves? Please tell me it's not just me .
  16. I was wondering about that to RubyStar :D .
  17. I got my membership card and Canine News etc today and I'm feeling :p that I'm actually entering a trial . The vetting is only for bitches isn't it? I'm a complete newbie at this so sorry for all the questions :p . I was about to enter the obedience challenge instead of the trial, I figured it out .
  18. Go Ruby . The SFE is a real bugger isn't it.
