  1. So sorry about your girl Amstaffs4me ...& 7 is so young, only 1 year older than my Bailey Yes a dogs life isn't long enough, that's why we have to love them every day,& give them the best life possible. :)
  2. I currently have 4 dogs, & I find that's easy to manage, as all my dogs are house dogs, I would go maximum 6 dogs, but would prefer to stay with 4. :)
  3. Hi everyone, I just thought I would ask this question as my beatiful Bailey is turning 6 tomorrow & I'm actually feeling really sad about it. I just can't believe how fast the time has gone, & it only feels like yesterday that I brought him home as a 8 week old puppy.I'm lucky he is a breed that can potentially live to 15-16 years old, but it's just so scary how quick the 6 years have gone. Bailey is my heart dog, & I don't even want to think about not having him in my life,I just wish dogs had longer life spans.
  4. Exactly this :) ....I also set the whelping box up a couple of weeks before the puppies are due & put my bitches bed in it, to get her used to sleeping in the whelping box too. :)
  5. Hi Ramona, if your a registered breeder, you can ask Troy to allow you to have access to the breeders forum ( you just need to give him your prefix details )Alot of the registerd breeders don't come into general that often, so may not have seen your post...So it might be more helpful if you asked in the breeders forum for advice :) I hope the surviving puppies & the mother dog are doing well, I agree with the others that your friend should get the puppies & the mum checked by a vet asap.
  6. Gorgeous Congratulations!! :)
  7. Will be looking at this thread with interest too...would love to import from the US sometime in the future aswell. :)
  8. Once again Renae!! :) Looks like she had a great day Jules...I also saw the pics on FB, they are gorgeous. :)
  9. Oh esky you a truely a inspiration & an angel for giving these little oldies a 2nd chance in life. Beautiful photos of your gorgeous pack. :) Will be praying that Penny pulls through Hugs from me & Aussie terrier licks too xx
  10. Awww that's so sweet Jules, I think dogs have the best healing powers when we are unwell. :)
  11. Great post Jules, & gorgeous pics, & I agree its great to see you back on Dol :) Even though we still chat on FB all the the time!! :D
  12. That's just so sad SM ....I've met a few Grey hounds, & they where lovely dogs.
  13. It is sad, ...My inlaws have had Rotties in their family for years, & all the ones i have met have been big gentle affectionate sooks.
  14. Yep I hear alot of newbies on this forum call them english staffies all the time.
  15. That's a big one, you can always pick a BYB when they refer to having golden lab puppies. :)
  16. Hi everyone, I was in a discussion the other day in my Aussie Terrier international FB group about things we hear get said about our breed that we find we are correcting people about. We where all in agreement that the main thing was the colors, alot of people refer to the blue & tan color as black & tan & the sandy/red color as ginger. Also we agreed that alot of people mix up the Australian terrier with the Australian silky terrier, & we have to expain to people that they are in fact separate breeds. So i was just wondering what things are said about your breed that you find you have to correct people about?? :)
  17. I've caught my dogs eating kangaroo poo, & they try & eat my horses poo too. I just think its something dogs like to do. They would also eat my horses food if I let them :)
  18. Another vote for the Lowchen, & for the litter that Lowenhart is referring too , gorgeous puppies :D If the Lowchen is not for her, I would also recommend a Maltese or a Mini Poodle. :)
  19. :) This is pretty much my answer too I usually say as long as the child is taught to be gentle & respectful with them, then there should be no problems. When my Nieces come over,my dogs get so excited & love them, but my Nieces have also been taught how to behave around dogs, & treat them gently, so we have never had any issues. I also always warn my puppy owners that adult supervision is also highly recommended with dogs (of any breed) & children.
  20. We paid about 15K 3 years ago for a bit over 330m of 6 foot cyclone fencing fully installed with 3 gates (two double). It was properly installed too, with the posts in concrete and strainers etc plus standoffs around the outside to keep livestock off it. It was expensive, and we've only just finished paying the personal loan off we took out to fund it, but the peace of mind has been worth its weight in gold. We've never had a dog get out and it's still in really good condition. Agree with Sir WJ re doing it thoroughly the first time. Wow that's exspensive So that would roughly be about $45.50 per m..looks like we will be saving for a bit more time then, as we really wan't it for our house yard & we love it in black. We don't need 330m so it will be a little cheaper, so hopefully it hasn't gone up in price too much in 3 years. We currently just have farm fencing with chicken wire half way up.
  21. They also haven't included the beautiful dogs from Eight Below or Best in show.
  22. This is not a terrier thing, there are plenty of terriers with a recall, and plenty of other breeds without one I agree with this,Brandy my Australian terrier bitch, has fantastic recall. :) Australian terriers might be a breed to consider, they have a big dog personalities, are very fun loving, mine love a game of fetch & a swim in our dam. I find with my dogs that they have a off switch too, & all of them like to have a snuggle on lap too.
  23. This is what I'd be doing too....or is it possible to build a dog run, with a roof & a padlock for you to put him in when your not around?? I really feel for you, it's awful that you can't even leave your dog in his own backyard these days without the fear of him being stolen. I hope they catch the lowlifes that are doing it very soon.
  24. Another vote here for Wayrod ....he organised transport last year to fly one of my puppies from Melb to her new home in Cairns last year, & I agree his service was extreamly professional, & he is just a lovely guy to deal with too. Will definately use his services in the future. :) So yes a big thank you to Wayrod from me too.
