Love it!! :p

That is very funny :p I have a couple of photos taken of Bailey wearing sunnies, I must dig them up.

Thanks Jules, yes he has blue pigmentation on his tongue. I am told by one of the Aussie terriers top breeders, that it is very common in the breed. It's funny though none of the litter of 8 puppies I have just bred have got it, even though both parents have it. :p

Hi everyone, I thought I would start a new photo thread, where people can post funny/ amusing photos of their dogs. I will start by posting this one of Bailey doing his best impersonation of a werewolf. :p

Hi everyone, I too have hardly any photos of myself & my dogs, this one of Bailey & me is actually my facebook profile photo. :p This one is of Bailey & my hubby Steve

Congratulations gapvic & Kaffy Magee on your gorgeous litters!! :D :D OMG Ashanali that is a horrible wound, I hope she she is doing better today.

Yep that's the types of food I was feeding my bitch during pregnancy (she refused to eat dry food) & now that she is feeding 8 puppies, I have really upped the quantities & am feeding her around the clock, as much as she will eat, aswell as good protein like eggs, I'm also managing to get her to eat some puppy dry food mixed into her mince, with cottage cheese. Her overall favourite is goats milk, raw egg & yoghurt milk shake, especially just after feeding the pups. She also gets a couple of chicken wings & necks during the day She seems to be coping alright & her condition has surprisingly stayed reasonably good (she certainly doesn't look like a bitch that is feeding 8 pups.

Alot of the general public don't even know that sites like Dol even exist & often some people are intimidated contacting a registered breeder directly becomes they think registered breeders only sell to show people. So it is just so much easier for them to look for a pup in the TP or dare I say it a pet shop. So it would be nice if more registered breeders advertised their litters in the TP, especially their pet puppies. It would also let the puplic know that buying a pedigree puppy doesn't actually cost you an arm & a leg.

x 2 :D x3 If would be good if they could have a separate section for registered puppies though, instead of being in amongst all the BYB puppy ads. I will probably be advertising my litter of Aussie terrier pups in there in a couple of weeks time, I will see how I go with the DOL listing first & a few other websites I have listed them on. How would you word it to sound better than the BYB's? Would you have to include a price to remain competitive I think by stating that you are an ANKC registered breeder & that you are offering purebred pedigree pups that come with VCA registration papers, makes your pups stand out better straight away from a BYB puppy. I would also state that my pups come with breeder support for the life of the pup, & also put in the advert all the extras I offer, like 7 days worth of food, Info about the breed, toys for the pup, a puppy blanket, a book on caring for & training pups. All these extras make my puppies look so much more attractive in comparison to a BYB pup that is advertised for the same price & come with none of these extras, & believe me there are so many BYB litters advertised at the moment, many of them x breeds that are priced at the same price & even more as the price I am asking for my pups. I also forgot to add that I don't have an issue including my price ,as it is the same price that most registered Aussie terrier breeders are asking for their pups at the moment. good on you! There is nothing wrong with advertising a price. You can either afford it or you cant, and ultimately you find out the price anyway. Why stuff around? Exactly, & by being up front about the price, it eliminates me receiving alot of emails from people that just want to know the price & nothing more. I then only get ph calls or emails from people that have seen & accepted the price & are actually serious about a pup & not wasting my time.
-
That's one of the things I am actually going to request from my puppy buyers, if they could please keep in contact with updates on how the pups are going, especially photos of when they are fully matured. I have just bred my first litter of pups ,& I'm already very attached to them & am dreading about having to say good bye, but the only thing that will make me feel better about it is the fact they will be making some other person or family very happy, & one of the most satisfying parts of breeding would be to get lovely updates on how a puppy I have bred have made someone so happy. I am so sorry your breeder doesn't feel this way, :D but maybe they are away at the moment or something is wrong with their computer & they haven't actually received your email yet.

Earliest Age To Introduce Solid Food To A Litter Of Puppies
Baileys mum replied to Baileys mum's topic in Breeders Community
Now that is probably very significant Tris, the pre birth condition of the mother. Nature allows for them to fatten up then produce milk and feed the pups. A debilitated mother would have starved the pups inutero and would have low supply because they would be so ravenous post birth. That has always been my view. The bitch whose pups started on solids at 2 weeks was emaciated and full of worms - she actually had to have a c-section as her condition was too poor for her to be able to whelp naturally. She definitely didn't have the condition - and seemed to HATE being a mother. With the greyhound litter we had culled half the litter at birth because the mother had severe birthing complications and wasn't expected to survive so I think Mum had supplies for double the pups she ended up with. As 8 pups is a really large litter for an Aussie I'm wondering if BM's bitch's milk is not enough now they're getting older. I know that she was in excellent condition pre-whelp and is being fed high quality food and she will create more milk the more they feed but I can't help thinking if they're trying to eat her food it is because they instinctually need it. Does that make any sense? You probably have a good point there Trisven13, Brandy's milk suppy still looks to be reasonably good, & I have been feeding her great quality food around the clock, & Brandy herself still looks IMO in fairly good condition, however feeding 8 puppies for a dog of her size is a huge job, & yeah maybe all the pups are just falling short of being completely satisfied. All the pups are still gaining weight, so I haven't really worried about it before this, but I suppose it would help Brandy a little if the pups do get supplemented with a little bit of solid food every day. :D -

I agree with you But sometimes you just get wee one's who are so eager, that they will dive in mum's bowl. Or you have a really 'into it' mum will regurgitate for them. I figure if they are that keen so early, they are ready for a little taste or gum on a meaty bone. Hey Bailey's mum, how did they go with pink slushie ? fifi Hi fifi, well I tried them with the pink slushie this morning, & I have to say it was a very funny & messy event. Four of them dived straight in & took to it straight away,(eating some of it as well as getting a hell of it all over their face & bodies ) a few were not interested at all , & a couple where interested, but didn't actually know what to do with it & ended up just getting it all over them (with these ones, I put a bit on my finger & they licked it off, but they still haven't grasped the concept of eating it out of the bowl yet. So all in all I thought it was a pretty good first attempt at solid food introduction, & Brandy just loved going back into the box & cleaning them all up. :D So I think I might give this a go atleast once a day until they are all used to it, & then I will need add some soaked puppy food & start offering it to them several times a day. with the ones that were'nt interested this morning I might try & give them a little of it individually tomorrow. -

Thanks fifi, Ok I think I might make up some "pink slushie" for them later on today, & see who's interested. This should be interesting, & I'm sure very messy. -
OMG !!I was away from the computer yesterday & just found out about this. My heart goes out to Jed & all my thoughts & prayers are with her & her family at this moment,& I'm praying for her to have a speedy recovery. This is just so devasting, all her beautiful animals. I have never met Jed, but I feel like I know her so well with all the amazing stories she posts on this forum, & she is always so helpful & always seems to be the voice of reason in so many threads. It is very obvious of the commitment & love she has for her dogs & all animals. I will most definatly see what I can do about sending a donation. RIP to all Jeds animals that where lost in this horrible tragedy.

Hi everyone, as some of you may know my Australian terrier bitch Brandy whelped a litter of 8 puppies 2 weeks ago. Brandy has been doing an excellent job & so far all puppies seem to be thriving & all of them have just about tripled their birth weight. So anyway I gave Brandy her breakfast this morning as usual in the whelping box as Brandy likes to eat all her meals near her pups, I walk out of the room for a couple of minutes & when I come back to my surprise 3 of the pups have their head in the Brandy's bowl licking & trying to eat some of the food. So I put some of the food on my finger & offered it to a couple of them & they licked it off my finger & seemed keen to have some more. Anyway I was wondering what would be the earliest age to start offering some solid food to the pups? I have some Biolac, & I was thinking of adding a little bit of raw mince & some natural yoghurt & blending it all up to make a smoothie & see if any of them are interested in it. However I was thinking that it might be too early to introduce solid food to 2 week old puppies, & that maybe I should wait till next week. So I was just wondering what all you think about this, I'm still amazed how these 2 week old babies where trying to steal their mums food, they are just growing up so quickly. Thanks everyone Nicole

Thanks Austerra, ;) Yes they are incredibly cute ,at the & at the moment I would love to keep them all, but I wonder if I will be saying that in a few weeks time when they become very active, & my whole life is spent cleaning poo, & wee & mixing food for the little terrors. :D

Congratulations Ahanali on you new babies I hope she gives you the boy that you wan't.

These ones where taken at 10 days old.

Couldn't of said it better myself, Aussie terriers are so much fun to have around, I would never ever be without one now. They are so intelligent, cheeky, funny, so full of personality. They really like to think for themselves, but you have to make sure they understand that you are the pack leader, or they will quickly take over the house hold. They are so loyal to their family & love being with their people & they seem to love kids. They never chew or destroy things that they know their not allowed to touch, but they get great pleasure in deboweling their soft toys. They love getting about half an hour walk a day, but are equally happy with a game of fetch, however my dogs favourite thing to do is to go for a walk down to our dam, & go for a swim. I haven't had any problems with mice, since I've owned Aussies, they a are fantastic at hunting vermin. They really do have the easy goiing fun loving Aussie spirit, & it is such a shame more people don't own them. My Aussie bitch whelped her first litter of 8 pups last Wednesday, & I know we are going to have so much fun raising them. Nicole Congrats on the litter, must post some photos. Thanks Sheridan & Austerra My pups are 12 days old today & are all thriving & all have more than doubled their birth weight. Brandy is doing an excellent job & seems to be enjoying motherhood, although she is looking tired, & I think having 8 pups to look after is starting to wear her out a bit. I am so in love with them , they are just so cute & the little terrors are just such time wasters as I spend so much time just looking at them. At this stage I adore them so much that I just wan't to keep them all, but I have decided to keep one of the boys, but I don't know which one yet, I am waiting for their personalities to kick in & for them to grow a little more. Being my first litter, I have already taken about 250 photos of them I just can't help myself I love them so much Any way here is some of them for you all to enjoy. These ones are taken at 7 days old

Here is some taken at 10 days old.

Hi everyone, I just thought I would update on how my litter is doing & post some piccies. Well they are now 12 days old & so far so good, all pups seem to be thriving & have all more than doubled their birth weight. Brandy is doing an excellent job, & seems to love motherhood, but I do worry if the 8 pups are going to really take it out of her, & my biggest fear is Eclampsia, but so far she seems to be really coping, so I will just keep a close eye on her. All my pups are so adorable, I am just so totally in love with them, & at this stage I just wan't to keep them all. But I think I will have to settle for just keeping one of the boys, which one I don't know yet,I can't choose at the moment, I will just have to wait until their personalities kick in & they grow a little more . Being my first litter I have so far taken about 250 photos of the cute little terrors , I just can't help myself. Here is just some I would love to share with you all. These photos are of the pups taken at 7 days old.

Good luck Ashanali, I hope your girl whelps freely & you have lots of lovely healthy babies soon.
