Yep there is definately some loonies, We are dealing with a living creature here, not a tv or fridge. Maybe these people should walk a day in a breeders shoes to experience the time, love, tears & hardwork a breeder puts into raising a litter before they start yelling stalker. A breeder asks nothing in return, this hobby is pretty much a labour of love so is it so bad to want a little update every 12 months? Its funny if a breeder ignores an owner when they have problems with a pup it is considered unethical, but if they show an interest in the pups well being they are a stalker, it sure can get a little confusing. If you don't want to have any contact with your pups breeder, that's fine just delete the email, no need to accuse them of stalking.

Funny girl!!

My girl is a funny one, while she screams the house down during a tie, she whelped her 8 pups without uttering one single sound, she made whelping look easy.
-
Thanks Greytmate I was pretty much going to do everything you have said anyway. I think for the 3 owners that have not kept in contact with me, I will send their pup a card & some treats, & the other 4 I will send them a little more, like some toys aswell as a card & some treats. Aslong as I acknowledge all of them, I'll be happy with that.

Funny this thread came up as I was thinking of starting a similar thread myself. I bred my bitch for the first time.. this time last year, we got 3 x 20 minute ties but for the first 5 minutes of each tie she screamed the house down. The result was 8 beautiful healthy puppies. We bred her again this week, this time we got 2 x 20 minute ties, once again she screamed the house down for the first 5 minutes. Like your bitch she is always really happy & playful after it is all over over..running round the house doing zoomies & playing with her toys. I guess some bitches are just real "drama queens" It is a good thing that my boy doesn't seem to get bothered with the screaming, as I heard that it can really upset some studs.

You sound like a lovely owner Rubystar & your dogs breeder is very lucky to have you as one of their puppy people. The 4 owners that keep in contact with me are also alot like you & I'm very lucky to have them, the other 3 people are lovely too & are perfect homes for my pups, but some people just don't see the importance of their pups breeder once theyactually get the puppy home unless there is actually a problem... which is fine with me, some people just don't have the time to sit & do updates all the time. I'm just hoping by acknowledging their pups birthday it will remind them that I still care & that I'm still here for them if they need me. raz there is no way I'm sending birthday presents to drum up business I don't breed enough litters to be looking for sales for starters, & my Dol listing & website is enough to give me enough enquiries every week. There is only about 23 breeders listed on Dol for Aussie terriers & only 2 puppy listings advertised at the moment so I definately do not need to drum up business. I want to send my babies presents simply because I love & care for them, not to get sales or anything else.

Thanks dyzney, I'm certainly not sending my puppies presents expecting anything in return, but I want to do it because I still love & care for these pups that I brought into this world. If I hear nothing back from the other 3 owners ... then so be it, like I said I don't want to appear pushy or as someone said creepy, I probably will have no more future contact unless of course I hear from them again some time in the future. I suppose by sending a present the owners still know I care for their dog & its a reminder to them that I'm still here to give them support whenever they need it. I also know that alot of people like to just buy a good quality puppy, bring it home & not even think of the breeder again unless there is a problem...which I can understand as well. :D

Hi everyone, I would just like to get some dog/puppy owners views & opinions so that I can make a descision. I bred my first litter of 8 puppies last year, & it will be their first Birthday in a couple of months time. I kept one of the boys from the litter & found fantastic homes for the other 7. I am in regular contact with 4 of my puppy people via facebook , email & have even had a home visit from one of my owners & puppy. Unfortunately the other 3 puppy people have not kept in contact with me other than the first week of taking their puppy home, its a little dissapointing but I don't want to be pushy either, so I only hope that they love their pup & that the puppy is having a great life. I would like to start putting together a birthday present parcel to send to each of my puppies. I know the 4 owners that keep in contact with me will be delighted to receive the parcel, but I'm not too sure if I should send one to the other 3 pups, as I don't want to look pushy, especially because the owner hasn't kept in contact with me. I know the 3 pups don't care about being left out, as they are dogs & don't care about birthdays. But I personally would care & feel bad about leaving 3 of my pups out as I still love each & every one of them. So I'm not to sure what to do, Would you feel uncomfortable receiving a Birthday present parcel from your dogs breeder if you haven't kept in contact with them? Thanks everyone Nicole

What's The Most Ridiculous Thing Your Dog's Been Called?
Baileys mum replied to ~Rumour~'s topic in General Dog Discussion
People always call my Australian terriers, Australian silky terriers, I seem to always be explaining that they are in fact 2 different breeds. I even get puppy enquiries from people looking for a an Australian silky. ;) -
I don't like to vaccinate every year, but will be boarding my dogs soon for a couple of days & need to get their C5's up to date. My local vet is going to charge me $82.00 for each dog including the consult charge.

Just Got A Lovely Surprise Visitor!
Baileys mum replied to Baileys mum's topic in General Dog Discussion
That sounds like a lovely idea, there are a couple of owners that don't really keep in contact, but I could organise something with the owners that do. I have been thinking of putting a birthday present parcel together for all pups for their 1st birthday in April, so it would be nice to give it to them in person. -
Just Got A Lovely Surprise Visitor!
Baileys mum replied to Baileys mum's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thanks guys, It was very lovely, even though all my pups left me at 8 weeks old, there is never a day that I don't think of them & wonder how their going... I just love every one of them (I think a breeders bond with their puppies never goes away ) so its just lovely to see one of them again. Photos are lovely, but seeing them in person again is much much better. -
I just got a lovely surprise about an hour ago. I was just sitting on my recliner in front of the air conditioner, watching tv & browsing through DoL on the laptop, when the door knocked. Answered the door & there was one of my puppy buyers, with her 9 month old puppy in her arms (my sweet little girl Nellie ) It was such a lovely surprise, I haven't seen any of my babies since they all left (except for photos ) so I was very excited. She has turned into such a lovely little girl & her owner is very happy with her & totally loves her. I think she remembered me, as she just kept coming up for cuddles & kept kissing me. She ran around my family room & smelled everywhere like she was remembering the smells from when she was a young puppy. I brought her brother Jasper inside to reunite them & after they did the usual smell greeting, they quickly started running around the room playing with the toys together like puppies again. I then brought her mum in & I couldn't believe it but Nellie went straight up to her mum & went looking for one of her teats :D I really didn't think that dogs would remember that far back & that the instint to feed of their mum would still be there after all that time. Brandy seemed to recognise her aswell & they had a little play together too. Now that they are gone, Brandy & Jasper are now pacing up & done whimpering & looking for her. So it was such a lovely surprise & I just wanted to keep her here & not let her go (its amazing the bond you still feel with one of your own pups, even after so much time) I'm so glad she looks so happy & well cared for & I couldn't ask for any thing better than that. So they have promised to visit again soon & I have a few other puppy owners that keep saying they will visit soon, so it would be great to get them here all at the same time for a family reunion. Just thought I would share my excitement & as I am still a very new breeder, this sort of surprise makes me feel very proud & makes all the hard work of breeding/raising a litter very worth while. Is A Blue Stafford Breeder Unethical?
Baileys mum replied to mr.mister's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'm not too sure how to link but there is a 20+ page thread in the puppy problems forum that might answer your question. -
With the puppies I've had, if we had to leave them, we attached a puppy play pen to their crate & set it up in our family room. We got cheap lino from bunnings to line the play pen to protect our floor, put food, water & toys in the pen & some news paper or wee pad in the corner of the pen in case they have to go to the toilet. We always make sure the puppy has a nice long play before leaving them & find that they sleep for alot of the time any way.

I'm pretty much the same busterlove, yeah I know dogs don't know its christmas or when its their birthday, but its wonderful to see the delight on their faces when they get a new toy, (I don't think it affects them negatively at all ) I will put my hand up & say that I'm one of those owners that calls my dogs my kids, the dogs know my OH as dad & they know me as mummy (yep flame away if you want) my dogs are my life, I love them with all my heart, but I do realise they are dogs & not human & can respect that. I always make sure My dogs basic needs are still met, they are all well trained, get lots of excercise & stimulation, they sleep in their own beds in our bed room are fed nutritious food, & get the right veterinary treatment when needed. I won't go as far as dressing them up in clothes though, I love the look of their natural coat too much... I'm not ashamed of loving my dogs & seeing them as more than "Just a Dog" (a term I personally hate as there is so much more to them than that).... my dogs all seem well balanced & very happy, & at the end of the day thats all that's important to me. ETA: I just thought I would add that I'm beginning to put together a birthday parcel for each puppy from my first litter (their bithday is coming up in April ) Of course I realise my babies don't know its their birthday, but I love each & every one of them...& it makes me happy that they are going to get something new aswell as putting a smile to my puppy owners face.

Can A Male Dog Wear Purple Collars?
Baileys mum replied to Bubitty's topic in General Dog Discussion
My dogs all have matching collar & leads for going on walks (they don't wear collars & leads while at home ) Bailey has a brown collar with matching lead, Jasper has a blue collar with brown paw prints,(I think its a rogz collar) Brandy wears purple & Jessie has pink. ;) with my first litter last year I included Rogz puppy collar & leads in with their puppy packs, one little girl got purple & the other little girl got pink, all the boys got either a brown with a black paws pattern or blue with a brown paws pattern. ;) While neither of my male dogs wear purple, I don't think there is anything wrong with it,I just love the colour... I used to own a grey horse (Arab gelding) & I was completely obsessed with dressing him in purple, purple weethabeeta rugs, with matching neck rugs (summer & winter) purple halter with matching lead rope, purple bridle & saddle cloth. He looked fantastic in it, I now have a liver chestnut QH & purple doesn't look as good on him, ;) but the colour does look fantastic on my hubbies black standardbred gelding. -
Yeah thats a good breed Very, very biased here, but I totally agree..a very good breed!!

This is just so sad & so true, some people think dogs are that disposable. I will make a vow that none of my dogs will ever be put in that situation, & if anything where to happen that was beyond my control that I couldn't keep them anymore, I will either find good homes for them or get them PTS my self, no way would I ever abandon them at a shelter. :D
