  1. Hi everyone, I just saw a story on the Morning Show about PETA using a nude supermodel (I forget her name )to raise money. Apparantly if you go to their site...after paying a certain amount of money (I forget exactly how much, but I think it was $5.00 ) You then get access to nude photos of this model. I don't know,I really don't like it ...I reackon it is exploiting women...& in a way it's like their using pornography to support their cause. I'm not a supporter of PETA at all, but I do agree with one of the woman on the Morning show panel when she says that PETA have probably offended alot of their supporters..as alot of people that support PETA also support woman's causes too...& it will be seen that they are using a woman's body like it is a piece of meat. PETA have defended doing this by saying that this particular model is a vegetarian..& are trying to say that you too can have a beautiful & fit body too if you don't eat meat. I was just wondering what you all thought about this.
  2. I will most likely be having to do this too. I have a puppy person on my list that lives in Innisfail Nth QLD, so I will be posting my puppy pack from Vic. This puppy person is being very reasonable & has offered me extra money for postage & my trouble. I am probably looking at getting one of the packing boxes from Australia Post & sending it either by Registered post or Express post. I see you can buy a packing box for $4.50 that is approx 20cmHx40cmLx30W...I have alot in my puppy pack so I think this might be the right option for me. My postage will be approx be $26.50 for my destination for regular post up to 8kg...So I will have to ask them what it will be for registered post. I see they have smaller boxes aswell, so it might be a good thing to have a look in your local Austalia post office & see what is available. I will probably try & post my puppy pack atleast a week before flying the puppy up.
  3. I was disgusted with Jazzy4's post too. Yes I agree mice are a pest & need to be controlled..but I am appalled that someone can come on a dog forum where most people care about living creatures & gloat about cruelty & torture to a living thing. No creature deserves to be tortued & die in such a way...just absolutely disgusting!!
  4. Thanks to all Breeders who replied & participated in the poll. Looks like the majority are with me in saying Bitch puppies seem to be more highly in demand. I also agree that you usually get enquiries for the sex you have least of. With my last litter we had 6 boys & 2 girls,& we could have sold the female puppies 20 times over. :D This time my pups aren't even born yet & I've already got more people on my list wanting a girl than a boy..It will just be our luck my bitch will have a whole litter of Males. I'm hoping if this happens I can convert some of the people to getting a lovely boy as I do believe they can be trained to be clean inside. I have 2 entire males inside & neither of them cock their leg over everything....& males make such affectionate pets. I thought I would also mention that I thought it was interesting that the results of this poll are very different to the results in my poll in General..where the preferred sex for a puppy where totally even for both Male & female. :p
  5. Thanks to everyone who replied & also who participated in the Poll. It looks like going by the poll that both sexes are evenly preferred & that their are many different reasons for preferred sex. Also interesting to see that pet & dog sports seem to be the most popular for choice for getting a dog. I do find it interesting that the results of this poll are very different to my other one in Breeders forum, where 21 breeders have voted that female puppies are more higher in demand...compared to 7 breeders voting that Males are more preferred. Only 4 have voted that the sexes are even. Interesting that differen't polls show such opposite results. :D
  6. When my Aussie terriers kill a mouse they die instantly, they do not suffer. I would never let any creature suffer & do not agree with inhumane traps like glue traps.
  7. Tha's exactly right Leema...& I do have a couple of people on my list that do want a bitch for their preferred choice.. but are willing to take a boy if a girl is not available.
  8. Yep, I get that all the time too TS, "I just think little girls are cleaner than boys" "I don't like how boys cock their leg on everything & hump everything in sight" or "boys escape more & roam the streets" Personally if I was just after a pet, I would much rather a boy as I think they are more cuddly & affectionate than bitches...and I usually try & explain this to people, but most people have their heart set on a girl & its usually impossible to change their mind.
  9. Hi everyone, I have a poll going in General asking the Dol community what would be the preferred sex for their next puppy. I have stated on my other thead that with my last litter & my pending litter that the majority of my enquiries have been from people looking for a bitch puppy. So I'm interested to hear from other breeders if you have found that there is more of a preferrence for one sex over the other or do you usually have an even no of enquiries for both sexes.? Thanks everyone
  10. Sounds like you get the same sort of reasons as I do dunnwarren... I too try & tell people that if they are just after a pet that the sex doesn't really matter & if anything the males are more affectionate & cuddly..but alot of people are set in their ways & yes most probably there will be people missing out with this litter too. I haven't heard that one before though... Males poo more than females.
  11. Hi everyone, I'm very curious to know if you where to get a new puppy or mature dog in the future what sex you would preffer. I have had alot of interest in my pending litter..with about 70% of people preffering a female puppy over a male. Most of these people where after a pet puppy only, a couple where looking at getting into showing & breeding , & a few where looking at getting into dog sports. Alot of people have told me they would preffer a female, because that is the sex their family have always had, some said they thought females where cleaner & easier to house train than a male & a couple have thought that males tended to stray more than a females. Some wanted a female because they already had a male, some wanted a female to breed with & some where not fussy with the sex as long as they got a healthy puppy with a excellent temperment. Even after me telling them that these facts where untrue & it comes down to how you train your puppy..most people still would preffer a female. I still have quite a few people on my waiting list wanting a male...but I probably have more people wanting a female, & more than likely there will be people missing out. So I was just wondering if this was just happening in my breed ( I could have sold my 2 females 20 times over with my last litter too ) or if females are also preffered with most other breeds. So just wondering if you where to get another puppy or mature dog in the future what sex would you prefer?..Is there any reason for your prefferred sex?...& what will your new puppy / dog be for? Thanks everyone Just thought I would add that I will either be keeping a female from my next litter or buying a female puppy from another breeder for my next puppy for my breeding program.
  12. Maybe PM Doler Wayrod....I'm pretty sure he was selling brand new ones (all sizes ) in the market place forum.
  13. This is a great idea! Yep I did that with my litter of puppies last year. When they where about 6 weeks old I joined 3 play pens together on the lawn outside, put an old plastic dog kennel in it with blankets for pups that got too cold, put water & toys in it & put the pups out in it for atleast 3 hours a day when the weather was good. This gave the pups the chance to get used to the outdoors, stretch their legs & get used to toileting outside on the grass...so I'm sure this can work for your puppy. Good luck ;)
  14. I can't look at at a dead mouse in a trap & always have to get my OH to dispose of it. :D It freaks me out when one of my Aussies kills a mouse & brings it to me for a present. ;) I thought cats only did that, but my Aussies do it too...they always look so proud of themselves.
  15. Bull mastiff x chihuahaua :D how is that even possible...how do they even mange to mate with that size difference unless they do AI, but I can't imagine a BYB going to that trouble. Gee I hope the female was the Bull mastiff & not the chihuahua. :D
  16. Yep & I've got a couple of Aussie terriers that would be more than happy to help you with your problem. Although I think a trap would do the trick too.
  17. Yep this happened to me... Brandy came in 3 weeks earlier than we had predicted this time & completely surprised us...but doesn't matter she is now pregant & currently on day 40. ;) But I agree about the waiting,it can get on your nerves sometimes.
  18. All My Aussie terriers jump on & off beds & couches with no problems. My 13 yo Aussie x likes to be picked up now, but still jumps off herself.
  19. My old girl was desexed when she was 6 months, & pretty much setted done by 12 months old after she had got over the puppy stage...so nope she did not have to have a litter to settle down.
  20. Thanks Staranais, I personally thought it was fair price & we did seem to get alot for our money, but after reading this thread I thought there would be no harm in posting & seeing what other Dolers thought of the price.
  21. My 13 yo girl recently spent the day & overnight at the Werribee University animal hospital to get some work done. I wanted to post a break down of the bill...but I can't seem to find it at the moment. Because of her age & the fact that the Vet had detected that Jessie has a heart murmur we did get the bloods done as well as the fluids. Our bill included: -Pre op Blood work profile - anaesthetic - flushing out & cleaning both ears - Iv fluids - Removal of 2 decayed teeth - Full clean of remaining teeth - chest x-ray to find out grade of heart murmur ( thank god we have found out she has only a grade 1 ) - day & overnight hospital boarding - medication...including anibiotics, cortisone & ear drops All of this cost us $765.00 I was just wondering if this amount seems fair, or where we ripped off. I have to say that the vets at Werribee have been fantastic for our old girl & have done more for her than our regular vet has done for her in 5 years.
  22. I am in the Pentland Hills ...30 minute drive from Ballarat.
  23. I'm very biased but I think Australian terrier puppies are very cute too.
  24. Poor Charlie, but I'm sure he was fine & just slept all day. My old girl Jessie, who is 13 & totally deaf is always accidentally getting locked into rooms. She tends to follow us everywhere..but is so quiet that we never hear her half the time, & she is always sniffing under a bed or something that we don't see her either. Because she can't hear us either she never knows when we leave the room & ends up getting locked in. She's funny though she never barks or cries to be let out..& it is only when we realise we can't find her anywhere or when one of our other dogs starts barking or scratching at the door to let us know, that we realise that she has been locked in. Silly old girl, we really have to start remembering to check rooms properly before leaving them.
